I was asked to join a guild after running a pledge with a random group. They were a trials guild so I thought it might be fun. First trial I was told the rules are if the trail leader is looking for gear and someone else gets it then they have to give it to the leader. Asking a few questions I also found that you had to be an officer in the guild to lead a group. So I didn't even make it to the first mob before I was out of the guild. I still have a few members from that guild on my ignore list.

The guilds I am in now if it is a training run we loot along the way and the leader usually takes the time to point out where chests and heavy sacks might spawn. If it is not a training run then we wait until the end and go back to loot.

Either way usually the person opening the chests is someone trying to get the legerdemain line leveled.

While I think it's selfish to focus on the guild leader, most progressive guilds will give sets needed for certain roles to those people who play those roles (ie mending goes to the healers). If its just a random run that you guys don't run together often, I don't consider anyone priority unless they are willing to pay.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you and apologies if I am, but no one should be paying for anything in group dungeons. If not needed by the finder, the gear is nothing but vendor trash once the trade timer runs out. Never understood why people refuse to sell an item for say 10k, because they think it's worth 20k. No one buys it so instead it gets sold to the vendor for 20g or something like that. People who do that are either very spiteful or just greedy *** in the first place.

I've never paid for any item in a group dungeon nor have I ever accepted any gold. If i don't need, it's just good to give it to those to will use it.

Same goes for those who organise these runs/farms. If they clearly state they want/need item X, if found, before starting off and i needed it too, I'd still hand it over to the person who initially organised the farm/run.

For the most part I agree with you, but weapons are highly desirable and often times more than one person wants a specific weapon. Especially when moondancer staves/swords drop in sharpened.

There are already several things wrong in this thread. Group Leaders do not have priority on what Loot I get. Everyone gets their own loot. If any trail/dungeon leader threatens or strongarms me for my loot. I will tell the idiot to go shove a turd into his wind pipe and die, before leaving. There are many guilds out there who doesn't impose such a dictator like and draconian rules. Loot tables are individual for a reason, to solve the problem of shared loot encountered in other mmos. Everyone is entitled to their own loot. No one else deserves to have their loot forcibly taken away.

I'll happily give stuff that I don't need away too, to guildies. Randoms, I'll usually do so IF they don't keep spamming - and spamming during any kind of fight, mob or boss. If you're taking time out to type (or even Up-arrow [on console] what you want in the chat while I'm fighting, forget it.

    2. Whoever has the loot passives opens the chests, to increase odds of getting better loot for everyone. Not sure if it is a myth or not but why mess with fate?

I wouldn't have necessarily kicked them from the group but would have stated the rules at the beginning so they were clear. Why should the trial take three steps from forever because one person cannot stop themselves from looting chests?

Im mixed because ofla lacking details. If this was already mentioned by the guild in their faq a kick before final boss is fair warning. If not then I'd keep an eye open for another guild.

I am not going to pretend that we are a highly competitive guild but we run trials in two tiers.

Our "raid team" is the same core 12 people that have been working together for a while and when this group runs we share loot based upon roles and needs. Any desirable duplicate/unwanted items are handed out for peoples alts. The group leader has no priority over anyone else.

Our open trials or training runs are a free for all.

So people can do a simple test to see if this is a myth. And it is. It only affects what there person with the passive gets. For a shared loot drop such as those in get trials that everyone gets to loot. His passive only affects him. For overland chests that only one can loot if he has the passive and opens it then leaves it someone else will benefit. But in trials just open it and not have this BS with passives lol.

Not only do opening chests and looting sacks means that they disappear after ~5 minutes but it also adds time and decreases the score. If people are running for speed run achievement or leader board they are right to get pissed.

Lol so i thought i was kinda a [SNIp] when it came to voting to kick. A lot of things irritate me when i Q with pugs but mainly its the dps that bothers me if the dungeon takes long im leaving.

Now i was doing vet hel ra with guildies that i met about a month ago we are basically approaching the last boss and someone in group chat said "CHEST"

So we all run to chest and outa nowhere the leader of group says "who opened chest?"

Player admitted he opened it and the leader of group KICKED EM LOL.

I had NOOO IDEA WHY until i asked why was he kicked? The leader replied "i have my loot passive for chests i want to open all of them".

Lol this guy or girl got kicked for opening a chest !! I thought i was mean but holy moly can u imagine how it would feel getting kicked for opening a chest?

Hope everyone has a nice day

Yeah.. seems like a crapping thing to do, and seems like an egotistical guild leader there. Although many members are helpful, trying to get along and trying make a guild work, it is still just a video game. Not like there's a an officially mandated code of conducts. People come and go all the times. There are good people and crappy people playing this game and same joining into guilds. Mostly, guilds are good for traders. If that guild you're talking about (with seemingly a crappy GM) has the guild store in a good location, I probably won't do too much stuff with them, but stay on for the guild store. If there are a lot of crappy members, I would leave, even if the guild store is in a good primary location.

I usually repeat several times that no one should take chests or heavy sacks until the end when we start and I do call people out for being A holes if they do anyway but I never kick em for it. But however, if someone puts that damn cake on a door and I know who it was I will kick that giant D bag.

No one tells me what loot to give to whom. I offer stuff I don't want if there are people looking for that set. On non speed runs, my guild does bags and chests after each room is cleared or before if the boss/mobs can be avoided.

Cake on the door is the best part! Lol. You get good at finding the door behind the cake  My guild usually does that upon completing the trial while everyone is going back through to get chests and heavy sacks. Especially bad in vMoL lol.

The Jubilee cake from the Anniversary Celebration. It used to give you double exp during that event. It has a huge radius for its activation promt and if you put a cake in front of the entrance to a trial or maybe on one of the many doors in Maw, you will most likely eat the cake rather than opening the door if you try to get through. If you jump and aim high you can go through even if the cake is there but its a HUGE PITA and is used by PUG trolls quite a lot.
