I don't care. Even if I did my writs in Elden Root I pre-make my provisioning items.

Elden Root is probably one of the worst designed major city in the game.

The get the whole tree thing and that's fine but it's faster to wayshrine to another city to craft than to take the hike the the crafting in the tree.

    Yes .
It would be nice, but I don't bother going to the first floor provisioning station I do my daily writs, then leave Elden Root for the pods which have both a chef and brewer, who have the recipes I need, and a cooking fire.

Then I leave and deposit my writs.

I bought Snugpod precisely to avoid climbing the Elden tree for Master Writs (now I have an enchanting and alchemy stations there). There is a cooking fire near the wayshrine anyway on the bottom floor of Elden Root.
