Not enough purpose to housing at the moment to shell out real money for it.

It was a 2 week long process for me to break down and spend in game gold for a decent house. I currently have about 4 items placed in there.

To get me to spend $120.00 on an in game house, it will need to do MUCH more than it currently does.

My free apartment has a stool I bought in game and a painting I found somewhere- no idea where it came from, but it covers a whole wall. It's the Craglorn loading screen. My camel and pocket mammoth are hanging out, too. Mmmmyep. Oh, there's a candle on the floor.

Assuming your guild only has 24 members that is.

If you guold has more than 24 members, or even more than 24 members who might want to get together, then its just about the worst guild-hall imaginable.

Somewhere on an old back up drive I have screenies from LOTRO of a guild event my guild had at their Guild House about 5 years ago, there were about 50 of us.

So a ten year old game, had better guild halls 5 years ago, and that only cost in-game currency.

    Well done ZO$.

I have a feeling that the pricing had ESO+ subbers in mind, to create exclusivity in housing, but between the crates and these prices, its just laughable.

    like seriously...

IF housing supported guild sharing etc... properly, then I could see it as being aimed at guilds for guild halls and stuff ; but as is. just no.

This. Housing like the Cave and Manors would be much more appealing IF leadership roles and ownership were able to be distributed throughout a GUILD, and NOT solely one person (guild leader) owning the home. As it stands, if a guild all pitches in to buy guild housing...that home still belongs to one player...now, what's to say that player doesn't throw up the deuces after the home is bought and leaves the guild!? See what I'm sayin?

I'm too spoiled now by other games like Minecraft and FO4 and Skyrim's Hearthfire DLC that let me build all sorts of stuff, including storage and farms and other items directly useful to core gameplay. I looked into the tunable crafting stations and, wow, that's a grind, innit?

Even the notorious No Man's Sky had an update to allow base building and farming. I think there's vehicles now, too. I should probably go update it.

NMS base building puts Homestead to shame. Completely customisable, NPC's that give quests, huge storage space, access to the trade network, grow your own resources, completely free...

Homestead, decorate a dark and unimpressive copy of an existing building with either items that take forever to grind for or be charged an extortionate amount of real money in the crown store.

Personally I think it was just the update ZO$ marketing used to milk the crap out of people silly enough to fall for it along with brand new RNG gambling crates....but that's just my opinion....along with Zo$ focus is now more about their microtransactions and less about keeping a long term player base, fixing long term game breaking issues or future content, even that is not enough they need to start changing the description of subs from "all downloadable content" to "DLC Content"....then call the next DLC a fake "expansion" to throw the next big patch of content behind a pay wall....it's ok no one will notice....then are even going to not give free character slots when releasing a new class...

And still people fall for it....

What's next? Start charging real money for tables and chairs that they just copied and pasted with white knights actually defending it? Oh wait nvm....I think we are already there...

Tbh I have a feeling they will put all the new Bis items and make Warden OP just so people jump at buying their fake expansion...because ZO$..

Plus I seem to have more fun decorating the small spaces.

I finally pulled the trigger on the banker last week and it has been pretty sweet. I've been sitting on 6k crowns since DB. My first crown store purchase other than DLC.

I'm almost tempted to buy some crowns in the next sale to get the merchant. But not quite.

Yeah, and I thought Sony was the worst before Swg shut down, now look where everyone's $ got them nothing now, even if people can spend this kind of $ and don't really care just a warning that games do end.

I don't have much time to play as of late, plus I enjoy the small place I have and am trying to furnish it.

Also, any money I spend on the game will be acquiring the Morrowind expansion.

I admit I bought the ebonheart chateau. I spent $60 instead and while I think it was still overpriced, I don't regret it like I surely would have had I bought the Cavern. I mean that is a lot of damn money for a single pixel instance that provides no special housing services available in other mmo's.

It is a nice space, but sincerely I believe it not to be worth it.

Now if they increased furnishings limit far above what is now, increased the amount of visitors to actually allow a decent sizes guild, and added available merchant and bankers that function EXACTLY the same
as ingame ones. Then absolutely I will buy it as well and turn it into a gladiator realm

Was willing to pay a good amount for it since it would mean I'd be pretty much set for housing across my toons with that huge cavern but even with that, no, it's too much.

Hmmm, the results of the poll looks fairly conclusive but I would imagine from ZOS perspective they are more or less as anticipated. The business model that is 'whale hunting' relies on sales from a very small percentage of the game base.
The interesting poll would be 'how many of you would buy Earthtear if it was 8000 crowns'? Many of us will think this is a bargain if they do a sale on these items in time to come or at least if not a bargain, will encourage us to go for it because of the perceived discount. If so, that's a very clever model by ZOS. If they went on sale initially at 8000 crowns you would still have people complaining about paying 60bucks for what they perceive as a cosmetic item and they would have to put it on sale at 4-5K before the masses would buy it. By putting it on the store at 16K and PERHAPS (and perhaps not) reducing it on sale to 8K (or doing a crown sale), they will be getting a much higher proportion of people buying at much higher prices.
    That's my thinking anyway!

I didn't buy any house yet (only got the free inn) because I wanted to live in Balmora. I already seen a video where a dev was waling in Balmora and gthe housing icon was on his rader so I know I can.

But for the poll.. No, I will never pay more then 50k crowns for a house. The cost is more then a triple A game and then I rather buy a game.

Also know, you pay 16k crowns to RENT the caverns for using it in your game. You still don't own it. Zenimax has the power to remove it, change it as they see fit.

I will buy the Balmora house with gold if I can. And else I will stay in the free inn or live from what the lands have to offer me. I heard Azura coast is nice this time of year.
