I posted this is another thread. The problem is Level
3 had a fiber line cut in the 4th of March down in Texas where ZOS servers are. They had to dig and fix/replace the fiber that was severed. It's not completely fixed yet and probably won't be until tommorow or early Tuesday. It's a huge undertaking the required working with other utility companies, city officials, state officials, contractors to do the digging,. And network engineers. It's being fixed, just give them some time.

The error 200 message is because the route your packets now have to take due to that fiber line being cut is saturated which is why using a VPN (which changes the route of your packets) fixed it.

does the 32 bit client follow a different route? why am i able to play just fine on 32 bit but not 64 bit?

I am able to log in about 1/4 of the time. Not sure if this is good feedback for this thread or not. Error 200 (7:4:178:597). Super annoying, gonna stop trying for the time. Fix this BS, because I didn't just spend money on this game to NOT play it. I already changed my password because I thought I was somehow hacked. At least I was able to log on long enough to get mount speed upgrades for my 2 main characters.

Just to echo what others have said. Trace route isn't reliable since it get blocked. In the case of the data on the spreadsheet, it looks like AT&T honors trace route, but beyond that is a black hole.

It is interesting that everyone is going through AT&T.

As for a fiber break in TX at Level 3, I am not seeing anything related to that.

Ok, so, all need now understand about VPNs, source codes, servers, a litle programmation...because ZOS cant fix the problem: server is overloaded because ZOS sold much to a bad structure (its really seems)?

    Nice!

You actually don't need to understand any of that stuff. You can easily set up a VPN without really understanding what you're doing just by searching on Google. And if the problem is with Level 3, then yes ZOS can't fix the problem because the problem is with a different service provider.

yep if its level3 then ZOS is just as boned as we are. You can't argue with the internet it just doesn't work

This is the closest to a direct source I can find. Supposedly individuals who have a business reliant on Level 3 have received emails as well, but I can't find much information otherwise. Level 3 generally seems very reluctant to publicly discuss outages though, so I'm not shocked that there isn't much information out there.

yea for level 3 to actual admit to anything it has to be well more than just taking outa MMO. I think last Oct they admitted outtages when phone/voice service was seriously compromised

Then why does Blizzard's servers work? And GW2. And... all the other mmo's out there? Why just us if it is the internet?

dumb question. Major providers are obviously simple and transparent. If a level 3 outage is causing this ZOS has no control over it. as for why no one else is affected well if we could gather all the sys asmins maybe we could get an idea, most likely not. The internet isn't simple and maybe ZOS hasn't thought about redundancy in the same way others have.

If I were to use a VPN, how should I go about changing the route? Would I pick a different state or something? I don't know anything about those things. :(
