ESO Server Issues - Data Collection (please fill it out; the more data we have, the better)

Since ZOS has proven that they still need help, let's give them some.

I have created a quick form for you all to fill; it's simple, maybe a bit messy because I'm new to this, but it should do. After this, I'll write up a program for a quick US heatmap and throw the data in there.

A requirement for you guys is to run two traceroutes to both the EU server and the US server. The data may be useful.
To run a traceroute on Windows, open up the command prompt, preferably in admin mode. Type in "tracert 195.122.154.1" for running a traceroute to the EU server, wait for it to finish, then type in "tracert 198.20.198.110" for running a traceroute to the US server, and then wait for that to finish.

To run a traceroute on Mac OS X, launch Terminal and type in "traceroute 195.122.154.1" for the EU server, and "traceroute 198.20.198.110" for the US server.

The result should look like this:


The first item outlined in red means that the traceroute is complete and that you can access the server; the second one is the IP address where the traceroute terminates; it's where you don't have access to the server. You'll need those values for the form if you're unable to access the servers.

EDIT: People, don't enter the full name of your state, and leave your city out of this; I'm glad that you're willing to provide such detailed data, but it'll break the consistency of the data as well as the heatmap visualization I'll be creating later. For those who have done so, don't worry, you can edit it by clicking the link back to the form, and if you don't, I can fix it after I properly download the data. For the rest, please keep that in mind: just enter your state abbreviation for your state, no more.

Hopefully this data can help ZOS pinpoint the issues with players not being able to connect. If not, oh well.

Quick update. Thanks for the responses! So far, we're seeing a trend where the pings to the US server terminates in an IP of 12.122-123.xxx.xxx.

I advise people to read the instructions carefully; if you are in the US, enter the state abbreviation, and leave your city out of this. This way, the data will be much more consistent and much easier to work with. You guys have the ability to edit your responses, so go back to the form and do that if you can. If you cannot, no worries, I will be making a quick inspection of the data before putting that through my visualization.

i dont want to do this, it looks like a hack and i would only do something like this in the event a GM directly from zenimax told me to do this and even then i probly would not do this.
why do we need this?
this is something Zenimax needs to be doing, not us the client

wont let me get past character screen. soon as choose character it just says ...

It's a Google Form; no personal data will be required of you other than your Google account which I personally cannot view; that is simply Google's own form of identification to prevent duplicate responses. All responses are anonymous to me.

While this may be unofficial, it is still data that may be useful to ZOS, and may also be insightful to the rest of us who wish to understand how the issues come to be.

I posted this is another thread. The problem is Level
3 had a fiber line cut in the 4th of March down in Texas where ZOS servers are. They had to dig and fix/replace the fiber that was severed. It's not completely fixed yet and probably won't be until tommorow or early Tuesday. It's a huge undertaking the required working with other utility companies, city officials, state officials, contractors to do the digging,. And network engineers. It's being fixed, just give them some time.

The error 200 message is because the route your packets now have to take due to that fiber line being cut is saturated which is why using a VPN (which changes the route of your packets) fixed it.

Unfortunately, tracert isn't that good to diagnose this issue. My tracert also times out. yet I'm logged in and playing anyway.

Wait ... Who cut an underground wire ? Where did this info come from and were the Mole people involved in any way ? I heard they are being spotted more often in Texas by George Norri .

Ok, so, all need now understand about VPNs, source codes, servers, a litle programmation...because ZOS cant fix the problem: server is overloaded because ZOS sold much to a bad structure (its really seems)?
