What a joke.

As long as people make an informed decision about whether to buy them (which would have been completely impossible if they had been released in the same way we first saw them on the PTS - that was the major problem I had with them), I don't see a reason to shame the people buying them. It's their money, if they like gambling on things and understand how much they're likely to have to spend to get something that they actually want, then I don't see the problem. I sure wouldn't do it, but not everyone has to share my opinions.

Earthtear Cavern (which will be released this month) and Topical Island (been announced, no release date yet) were shown from the very beginning and have always been crown store exclusives.

Both of them were available on PTS.

I'm just going to say this to everyone here: Don't blame the system for your lack of self-control. Gambling is just a leisure activity. A hobby, just like any other hobby. When you willingly choose to participate in the act of gambling, you accept the risk of not receiving ANY profit or preferred payout. Whining about it, as if it's the system's fault, just makes you look childish.

There is nothing inherently negative about the act of gambling. The major problem with gambling, is that many gamblers are poor losers.

I am frankly indifferent. I was very opposed to them in the beginning, but I dont think they were as bad in practice as they potentially could have been. Would I like a new spriggan mount? Sure, but I am not going to fork over a bunch of money to roll the dice a second time. I might take a turn at a few k worth. The reality is that I basically use 2 things from the last batch, the wizard hat and the mount I bought with gems.

I pretty much bought those 90 crates as a test, I just wanted to see if they would end up being worth it. My data gave me the conclusion they are a rip off. For anyone who thinks otherwise, more than welcome to have that opinion.

I'm still quite opposed to them, but the bold part is true. The form that we first saw them in on the PTS was absolutely horribly exploitative. The form in which they were introduced on Live isn't nearly as bad, but it still needs some changes before I can be truly OK with them. They changed enough that I'm willing to stick with ZOS, but not enough for me to be really OK with them.

I actually know a number of people who did exactly that. Bought a number of crates as a test (the exact number was different for each person I know who did it - some spent more on them than I consider reasonable for this purpose, and some didn't spend very much at all) to see if they ended up thinking they were worth it, and then after the test swore off ever buying them again based on the results.

I'll be excited when we can craft our own homes on a lot we purchase (or earn) in the wilderness... then have our hirelings show up and deliver our stuff right to our house ... while people travel from zones away to buy the awesome loot we sell on our personal vendors ... now that's exciting and I'd pay cash for that for sure
