I never subscribed and never will. Saved a ton of money never subscribing + bought all the content separate.

Games that had an add on to content before were always called expansion. Only in maybe the last 10 years did the term DLC even start getting used and I believe it was just because it was easily accessed through a download rather than purchasing it in store....

So the term DLC became super common. You all have the right to future DLC for free as long as you are subscribed....

They flipped the script lol. Went back called it expansion and are sticking so hard to that term for legality reasons that people are actually confused and asking questions like wait what is that?

It's the same thing just worded different. Yes you all got screwed. RIP.

I'm sorry.... :D

Edit : $40 isn't bad if it's a decent amount of good content* I will buy it.

You try and take ZOS to court for consumer contract breach, the Judge will say there are physical editions in store and therefore does not constitute a DLC.

Speak for yourself. I'm on a horse.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Also most companies make you pay for Dlc as if it were expansions, even non MMO games as well look at Steam the majority of games make you pay for the dlc no matter how small or big they are.

I subbed for the crafting bag. I get 1500 crowns each month.

So yeah, I am still getting what I paid for plus some nice bonuses.

I also plan to buy Morrowind and keep my sub.

You buy crowns sometimes I guess but you don't get the craft bag, so you get to deal with the headache of bank space management.

Actually, they aren't calling it an expansion - they're calling it a "Chapter". Just to confuse people even more.

But yeah - I no longer see the value in ESO+. I'll buy the Morrowind DLC (because that's what it is), but I won't be subscribing anymore.

That means... I'll be £20 better off after the release, and ZOS loses £20.

I will miss the crafting bag.

Obviously, cheap non-sub folks stopped buying crowns for DLCs, so to get the next "Chapterdlcexpansion" or CDE we should call it, everyone will have to buy it or no bear for you, subs already get more than they pay for, non subs don't pay for anything... ZOS wins, well played.

It is a good plan. Because chapter has no real meaning. So in the future anything they wish to charge you extra for will become the next chapter!

They must have been losing money with crowns. They kept raising the price for mounts and motifs. 3k for a motif, then 4.5k, then 6k for a mount.

Probably ran some of their notorious "Statistics" and discovered how many people could just pay for Vvardenfell with crowns outright, even if it cost 6k, which would be reasonable because its twice the size of Orsinium that cost 3k crowns.

Figured they wouldn't get enough new money that way so they decided to betray the subscribers again. I say again because the ORIGINAL subscribers (back when subscription was mandatory) all paid for console development and NONE of that money went back into the game. Game stagnated after craglorn.

    Funny how history repeats itself.

Jokes aside, I can understand why many people are upset about this. No one subs just for the crowns, that would be like people asking to pay almost two times what everyone else gets crowns for once you consider sales and pack discounts. The crafting bag isn't even a year old yet and people have been subbing long before that. They thought they were getting all future content and supporting a game they believed in. Now they know they aren't getting all future content and the belief in the game/ZOS may be lost as well.

It isn't about getting something for free to them. It's about getting what they thought they were paying for the whole time that there was no reason to pay. I think many of us though saw this coming in advance with the data mining and expected it not to be included with standard subs and it's not hitting us all the same way.

Just seems like there is a huge lack of empathy in the world today. You don't need to agree with someone's opinion in order to understand why they have it.

This looks like a HUGE expansion. It doesn't surprise me that they don't want to give it to several million people for free. Bethesda has NEVER considered expansions as "DLC." I've played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim (as well as the Fallout games) and DLC and expansions were always treated differently. DLC has always been a smaller amount of content than an expansion.

Interesting that you're bragging about playing the game for free. Who do you think pays all the employees to make this game that you love so much? Someone has to pay their wages. They don't work for free. I'm proud to be a subscriber, because it means I'm helping to support a game that I really, really love. If businesses don't make money, they go out of business.
