You guys remind me if the supreme court and um explicit photography (dunno if the actual word is gonna get me in trouble)

The justices said, "I may not be able to define *it* but I know *it* when I see it"

The differences posted above may indict how difficult it is to say one thing is an exploit while the other is not. Either way, "I know this was an exploit when I saw it."

I'm more mad now they fixed this and not issues that have plagued the game longer. Wtf are the priorities?
Raising floors and lower ceilings by zos standards has created an iron maiden.
No matter how well you played, when the game is over, the king and pawn go back in the same box.
Be careful what you ask for from zo$, you always get punished.
Call me toxic, your the one being slowly poisoned by greed.

    Its not difficult.
Killing the boss without aggroing him clearly isnt an intended mechanic.

    A magnificent comparison.
My only real issue with COA lava is it does almost no damage. You go anywhere else in the game, especially above world, lava tends to kill you in 3-4 ticks. But I feel like I could stand in the lava in COA for over an hour and I'd never die.

I guess thats because insta-killing lava would've made Skoria fight impossible for very low dps groups. At least now you can execute him even if you run out of platforms.

This. I have no idea how a person could seriously argue that skipping trash in COA is the same as going outside the map and killing the hardest trials boss in the game without pulling aggro. That logic is just pure defecation.

Just fyi i wasn't saying any comparisons, just making a point while trying to avoid an argument

Oh I know, it's just that some people do believe that the maw exploit is on the same level as skipping COA trash and think that if maw exploiters get banned then so should people who skip trash in dailies.

It's hard to know what Zos will ban for though. No permabans for survey banker exploit and apparently hardly any for the use of third party cheating programs, but permabans for too much swearing and the salvation/werewolf exploit. I guess it's a mystery and we'll have to wait and see.

I didn't argue anything other than the precedent is the same. Of course people just FREAK OUT because How could I be using terrain to exploit?!?!

In-game punishable offenses should generally follow a set of rules. Fortunately, anyone who used this exploit did not take away anything from any other player (ego notwithstanding) outside of potentially robbing them of a legit completion of the trial.

Now, ZOS retains the rights to...do whatever they please. Where this comes in is that there is precedence showing that exploiting terrain to bypass mechanics has not been regarded as a punishable offense and then retroactively smashing players who exploited said mechanics.

Now, we have a pile of salt on the forums demanding that that precedent be retroactively put in place because of the prestige of the content and to appease the salt lords. This is functionally no different than a classic lynch mob attitude.

A good case-in-point is the exploit (which still exists 7 months later) wherein players can gap close into keeps, bypassing mechanics designed to ensure players could not enter an enemy owned keep because they felt like it. There was no precedent established except to the whole "DK Leap can and has received the developer's blessing in bypassing keep wall mechanics" fiasco which was the player justification for abusing it with other gap closers. This is essentially whaat Woeler is doing.

So, what did the Developers do? They made it very clear that at of the time of their post, it was now a punishable offense. What happened? People continued, were temp-banned, and now it's a rarely seen occurrence even though it is still possible.

Aside from anecdotal evidence, we'll never really know the metrics of how ZOS handles its temp/perma bans. I guess its a matter of which customers are "acceptable losses".

Guess we should ban everyone skipping trash in COA II. Using terrain to ignore mechanics.

Guess we should ban everyone magnum shotting to the Illambris twins. Using terrain to ignore mechanics.

Guess we should ban everyone who doesn't face tank everything vs. Hiath. Using terrain to ignore mechanics.

Please think about the precedent you would be setting before you start begging for bans.

Skip trash / tanking adds away from the boss == sniping raid boss from outside the map while the boss stays still and can't do anything. Also, taking a shortcut route through the lava is totally the same as skipping over invisible walls to go into a chessboard land to walk around a raid.

    A magnificent comparison.

And whatever that illambris thing is, if it involves killing the boss without the boss actually doing something/not entering combat, yea ban em, why not.

    A rose is a rose....is a rose.

It's exploiting despite whatever excuses or fancy intellectualizing you managed to come up with. Because you are salty some dudes exploited their way to Dro'Mathra Destroyer is your personal issue. ZOS should not heed something because you are angry. Asking for punishment that does not follow suit for like exploitation in the game is nothing more than a testament to the meteoric rise of salt levels.

Ok let me elaborate then on the ridiculous comparisons you make in order to justify exploiting.

    1. Skipping trash in any dungeon is not exploiting. Dungeons like Elden Hollow and city of ash even have mutliple routes, so you always skip trash. Or are the people not going back to kill everything exploiting? Also, they stay WITHIN the designed mapspace which is totally different than actually leave the map space.

    2. Taking the adds on Hiath to the back of the room is exploiting because? Off-tanking is an exploit now? Staying within the designated battle arena is an exploit? "Hey guys, we designed this arena for you, but don't go to the back, that's exploiting!".

    3. Whatever that ilambris thing is, if it involved bugging the boss in walls or making him stuck out of combat, yes that is exploiting and yes that should be bannable.

I don't like it at all that people exploited this, but I have the TOS to backup exploiting should be a banable offence. You on the other hand, just do it because you have a personal problem with me voicing it.

So you're saying none of the examples given are utilizing terrain to ignore intended mechanics?

Got it, we have nothing left to talk about.

So you're saying that utilizing the terrain, which have no invisible barriers, inside the map to bypass a few trash mobs is on the same level as completely leaving the map to bypass the entire trial and kill the boss without aggro.

    Got it.

You know its hard to feel much sympathy. The competitive integrity of PvP has long been destroyed. This game originally had the potential to be an e-sport in PvP. But then ZOS let the quality down, allowed PvP to rot in 10FPS for half a year and then allowed ACTUAL CHEATERS, not just exploit users, back into the game after they were caught actually using cheat engine. Cheat engine also allowed people to cheese maelstrom and get weapons.

I'm sorry that the PvE community had the integrity of a very difficult challenge corrupted by this exploit but PvE leaderboards have been cheesed before. Certain guilds have bought and sold runs and exploits.

I think its time for all of us, PvP and PvE to come to the conclusion that there is NO real integral competitive endgame environment for either of us in Elder Scrolls Online. This game lacks the quality, integrity, and desire to sustain an endgame PvE or PvP community. ZOS cannot provided us with an exploit free, cheater free, or even bug/lag free environment that is essential for competitive hardcore PvE/PvP.

If you want some perspective, League of Legends has 150 champions and immediately suspends them for competitive play if there is a know bug or glitch. Meanwhile ZOS struggles to balance just four classes. I can't think of a PvE Example but I'm sure there is one out there.

This game will forever be a casual game unless there is some severe changes in upper management. Trying to play this game at a competitive or hardcore level will only result in frustration.

Ah OK I didn't know that, so they did 3/4 legit then exploited the last boss. Kinda sad as they could have simply pushed on if they got that far and beaten it legit. Stupid really as the skin is for bragging rights but everyone in their group/guild knows it was from cheating for it.

Well, if that's true, they kinda cheated themselves. A group that is organized enough to kill the twins is capable of killing the last boss after some practice.
Its actually very satisfying to kill Rakkhat/Rakkhat hm for the first time, but those guys will know that they've just exploited it. :/
