Noticing the painfully low item count, what house are you getting for your goals? What will you build? More importantly, what houses are you liking and why?

I do want a place for a stable and a kitchen with a larder. I'm sure that alone will eat up every item I have so here's my plans:

-Strident Springs for stable and garden
-Hundings for bedroom/lounge area
-Velothi Reverie for the Kitchen+larder

I wasn't too impressed with the mansions.
I REALLY wanted to love the Ebonheart Manor considering I've been staring at it for years now.
But it's loud. In between the insects and the constant volcano noises, I decided this isn't a relaxing place to live.

Khajiit Styles :) since I'm from Indonesia where their architectures looks heavily inspired from.

Would like to grab the Dawnshadow homestead but im still lacking few hundred K's gold, I guess I'll settle with the medium version.

My favorite is Hunding's Palatial Hall, but that's third on my to-buy list and I'm not sure when or if I'll actually own it. It's got a lot of space to fill and I'd rather start with something cozier and more manageable. Also I know I'm going to have to spend a lot on furnishings, so the less I spend on the house itself the less likely I am to go completely broke.

The first two I'll buy are Autumn's-Gate and Mournoth Keep. The former is a nice balance of indoor and outdoor space and appealing ambience for a relatively low price, and the latter has a lot of space with an interesting layout and a nice rustic atmosphere. I'm not sure which one I'll start with, but I may just buy both and furnish them as I feel like it as I go along.

Same for me, I love Hundings, but it's too big to furnish, and I'm not good at furnishing huge open areas.

    My favourites are:

Velothie Reverie; its indoors is nicely divided in different rooms, which makes for easy decorating. And the courtyard isn't so bad when you realize you can make a nice overview over the city, by creating a raised terrace.

Twin Arches; I would have liked it a whole lot better if it came with a stairs to the rooftop as most Redguard small houses have, but also here you can make your ow view of the desert with a nice raised terrace.

I've also got my eye on the Black Vine Villa and Autumn's Gate.

I used to have Cyrodil Jungle House and Domus Phrasticus on my to-buy list as well until: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/314042/why-were-colovian-furnishings-removed-now-imperial-homes-have-no-furniture#latest
Especially the lampposts are currently eyesores. :|

Hundings hall in stros makai, a fraction of the cost of the big homes and almost as spacious, also the views are stunning, it's out of history's way, as it were, just perfect for my little family :)

Sleek Creek will be the first house to buy day 1. It's cheap and very close to Rawl'kha services. It suits for learning and experimenting. View is nice from the terrace.

When the patch has stabilized I'll switch to Serenity Falls. It's the best manor overall.

Both have ample area for functional use and less for , um, decorating.

I don't know. There's lots of houses I like but none which are perfect for me and my characters.

Serenity Falls Estate is the one I'd pick if there were no considerations except how it looks. I really like the khajiit architecture style and the grounds are beautiful. But there's no way I can afford a manor, I don't know what I'd do with all the space (especially inside, outside is easier) and my main characters are in DC so I really wanted them to live there.

Twin Arches is the right price and in the right alliance zone, but I don't like the desert look. Hammerdeck End would also be perfect except there's no outside space. There's lots of small houses I do like (Autumn's Gate, Black Vine Villa, Cyrodilic Jungle House and Humblemud) but they're all in the wrong alliances.

In the end I settled on Mournoth Keep as the best compromise of all the factors. It's very expensive for me but not impossibly so (I think I could save up the gold in months instead of years), it's in the right location and the setting and grounds are beautiful and have a lot of potential to be even better and it's about the right size if my characters share it. I didn't expect to like the orc style but with some colourful furnishings it can look really nice.

But now I'm having 2nd thoughts because I could get all the small houses I like for less gold. But then I might end up spending a lot more furnishing them...

I really wish Grymharth's Woe had some sort of yard...that would have easily been my first choice since it's the only house in a cold, snowy area. Instead I'll probably settle for Autumn's Gate, since it's the Nord style which I like.

I can only afford one large home at the moment, and that will probably be Hunding's Palatial Hall, since that house has everything: lot's of usable space, beautiful views, a beach. I'd rather collect a decent amount of furnishings before springing for that one though.

I like Hunding's Palatial because I love the ocean views, but I also really love castles and Daggerfall has an amazing ocean view too (if you stand on the little wall platform), so I think Daggerfall Overlook will be what I get first. I know it will be forever until it gets furnished unless the current system changes a little, but that's okay. The outdoor space is beautiful and peaceful.

    Strident Springs Demesne.
    • Huge outdoor space
    • Cozy interior (with actual ROOMS)
    • Attractive architectural style
    • Waterfall with natural pool
    • Watchtower
    • Beautiful surroundings

It ticks all the boxes. The only drawback is lack of furnishings to match the house style (since ZOS removed Colovian furnishings from Homestead for whatever reason). However, I've managed to get it to look quite nice by mixing and matching furniture from some of the other racial styles.

    There is also no stable.

    Honorable mentions:
    • Hunding's Palatial Hall - love everything about it except that strange walkway behind the building
    • Serenity Falls Estate - it's basically a bigger Strident Springs, but a bit too big for my liking

I'm being realistic, for me the real estate/location that come "with" the house is just as much of a factor as the the house itself, having to leave and run all the way down the street to a wayshirne every time is going to get old, quick. For that I can't really justify many of the large houses also the cost isn't something I'm willing to afford at this current time, I've got pve/pvp gear to be upgrading especially with how rare and costly making furniture is going to be, maybe in the future when furnishing mats are cheaper and I have the money to drop on a large house I'll consider it.

For these reasons I would've gone with the House of the Silent Magnifico if they made the roof area buildable or just got rid of it completely and give me the extra space where the stairs are, which ain't going to happen because ZO$ reasons, I mean I'd rather spend the extra 5k to get Mournoth Keep which has like twice the buildable area.

For all this talk, I'm probably just going to cut my losses, save the money and get Cyrodilic Jungle House as the location is absolutely amazing and having an outside area makes it feel just that little less bit like a prison cell even if the house itself is very small , I'm sure I can make the inside feel reasonably cosy.

Favorite small home is Twin Arches. The cap of only four collectibles for the small homes is awful, though. (Why?!??!? Is it because Zeni doesn't want us to enjoy our homes, or something? Do they want to put a cap on how much fun we'll have with the small homes?!?!?)

wait, only 4 collectibles for a small house????

that is really not enough!! the house is not so totally small. are you sure about that?

was it stated in the PTS patch notes? or you tried it on PTS?

Yes, I played it on the PTS. The cap is only four even for the largest of the small homes, which is Twin Arches.

    1. Strident Springs Demesne (1.3 mil)
    2. Hundings Hall (1.3mil)
    3. Mournoth Keep (~325k)

The first two are my preferred, but Mournoth is really great value at 1/4 the cost.

I wonder if people at ZOS are surprised by our choices.

I can imagine there's as many different opinions among the developers as among players, but I also think they expected some houses to be more popular than others and I'd love to know how their expectations match up to what we've all been saying.

Even better would be if a few weeks/months after release they told us what percentage of home owners bought each house and how that compares to their expectations.

Yeah, that's why I made this thread in the first place. In my mind, there was no question. Only these three:
    -Hundings
    -Strident Springs
    -Forsaken Stronghold

A couple of tiny inklings like the Velothi Revere, but I wondered what other people were interested in since my top 3 were so ingraned.
Maybe ZOS needs to revisit some of these homes that are not listed here and make them more attractive. Especially those top of the line homes.

As I said, I really want to like Ebonheart Manor but there's no rooms save for one in the basement. And there's no good pieces to even wall off your own room. Believe me, I tried very hard. :(

For me, what makes these homes attractive is solely what we are given.
    -Lots of beds
    -Lots of kitchen items
    -Lots of library items
    -Lots of outdoor plants
    -The ability to place mounts

This means at the very least, the house must have a garden area, a stable, a kitchen PLUS a larder. A library/study and a bedroom or two that is not in the middle of a room where everybody walks.

There are some very creative people here that can make do with anything. But for me, if there's 200 plant items in the game, a damned garden is kinda needed.
