Yo momma so fat not even the dark anchors could pull her to Oblivion!

"Yo momma so fat, she's in all three alliances!"
I still can't believe how sorcerers pets make bosses look stupid.
How can a boss (supposed to be tough, smart, leader of minions or hell demon and/or probably a general of Molag Bal's army or so) attack a small pet like a complete idiot instead of focusing on the enemy (player) attacking and killing him?
"Hey! Look! I'm a big boss distracted with this small pet doing me nothing! Look how stupid I am! That player over there is launching all his/her fury on me and I'm still attacking this tiny scamp. I'm a so smart boss. Molag Bal should be proud of me!".

Same could be said of any tank? Tanks keep boss attention while doing a fraction of the damage done...
Its rare for bosses to prioritize sensibly - healer then dps then other.
But to be clear, the boss sometimes may just be the biggest or the most powerful or the most likeable or the loudest, not the smartest... at least judging by almost every election done in my lifetime.

Tank is a player specific role, a pet is a pet that is making bosses look stupid.
And when you say "sometimes...", 99% of the bosses in this game can be taunted, so that "sometimes" becomes "always", therefore, all bosses are stupid turning their backs to the real enemy (player) to focus on a pet.

yes a pet is not a player but a boss spending all the fight smashing the tank who isn't hurting and ignoring the 50k dps stabby stabby guys killing the boss looks just as stupid to me as the one pounding the clanfear or the scamp who may be stunning a lot of adds every 4-5s.
But, BTW, yes every boss can be taunted but some bosses have mechanics which let them ignore taunts for specific attacks - like i believe there are some who just pick random characters regardless of taunt for this special or that special and others i think even specifically target "the farthest" or "the healer" kind of things - but with special attacks.
I mean... Aren't your summons supposed to be distractions and added damage and or heals, while you (the caster/summoner) supply the uninterrupted damage?

I think it's the fact that all players can look imposing and a threat.
The light-violet tinted Scamp and Clannfear just don't look all that threatening in my opinion. Also, those particular Daedra are kind of the lowest ranking, lowest intellect beings from Oblivion. In other words, they are minion-types that we're used to seeing hacked and slashed through and tossed to the side without much threat. Not something you could really see keeping the attention of a being with higher intellect.
While we do of course hack and slash through a lot of Dremora, the fact that they are human in form makes it more threatening because we're used to seeing beings in that form strategize and therefore be of a higher intellect. So, it would be much more believable to have a Sorcerer summon a Dremora Lord or at least a Daedra with a human-esque form keep the attention of a "boss".

Again, tank is a role, not a pet.
And dont derail talking about mechanics because this thread has not intention in discussing mechanics.
My point is direct and clear; a boss, an enemy leader, distracted with a small pet is stupid imho.

This. It makes much more sense than a small scamp tanking.
