I am torn - housing decisions

Houses are many but it'll be pretty expencive business however you will buy them. I can now afford couple of small houses or I could save for a medium one, so the decision must be made. The problem is the more I watch the videos and run in PTS, the harder the choise is.

I really want to live in Khenarthi's Roost, but I also really really wanna garden. So maybe Moonmirth house plus Autumn's Gate in Riften? That one has a beautiful outside area, but is it bit isoleted? I might want to live in a city. Snugpod is cute, though Elden Root isn't my favourite. Twin Arches in Hallin's Stand is congeous, as are Black Vine Villa and Cyrodiilic Jungle House in Malabal Tor. For some odd reason I'm deeply in love with house plan of small dunmer house, but dunmer are bit alien for me.

It won't come any easier with medium houses. Grymharth's Woe in Windhelm has perfect location and nice design, but no outside area. Sleek Creek House has everything, but do I really want my characters live next to Rawl'kha? Orcish small and medium houses are both great options too with good views but less suited for my characters.

Any insightful opinions? How will you make your choise?

I am starting huge and buying a manor. After that, I will probably start working towards another manor or 2. That "Count" title sounds nice. The Count of Monte Cristo Tamriel

I'll try to get a few smaller houses in strategic locations first and see how that goes...furnishing the houses is going to take a bit of time and if you buy a huge house you might get overwhelmed, there's so much to do.

I have almost no gold, but I will have the Gardner House in Wayrest to fulfill my sorceress city residence fantasy – similar to Triss Merigold in Novigrad.

Yes, I am lucky enough to have started at consoles launch. So I am a wealthier citizen of Tamriel.

I am still torn on which manor to purchase.

I would like a house with a garden and nice view. But those huge walls around the houses ruin the view. A wall half the height of those would be perfect.

I'll get the free Staple houses and sit on my pile of gold as it grows; while I watch others sink their hard earned gold into housing.

I am sticking with the free ones, because they are free, and furnishing sounds like an absolute pain.

I'm going the wealthiest route. Buying the earthear cavern for crowns. I plan on turning it into a massive assassin/ dueling guild. Going to build a dueling platform over the lake. And add an additional 2 tiers to it progressively making the arena smaller as it gets higher so it creates a more intense fight. Adding a pen to show off all my awesome mounts iv purchased all year. My pets. Going to build a wonderful torture room. Guillotine is on my list to buy. Going to create a round table meeting room for my officers. A dark ritual corner for my own dark sacraments. I would love for a delivery system to be implemented to homes for mail so as my assassin guild gathers renown people can mail my house requests to hunt down players in pvp and send me gold upon completion of said hit. This alone would make housing awesome! Even for crafters. If you build all the crafting stations in the house people could mail you armor requests and you just check your house mailbox at your leisure.

I'm thinking the three free rooms (storage closets) and one small with yard for now. Wait for ZOS to realize how totally nerfed up Homesick...uh, stead, is. Once they actually listen to players and make changes, then buy bigger.

Strident Springs and Hundings Hall are the only options for me. I don't like any of the other houses. Though I don't think I am going to buy right away anyway. They will come out with more houses after this and they might be better than what is initially released

A bunch of smalls and mediums is my strategy, too. My plan is to give each of my nine characters their own place to live. Given that there will be two cases of "roommate" pairs, that's seven houses I need to buy. And with how big the large houses are, most small (and a few mediums) are entirely sufficient to give all my girls a cozy home . :)

Fortunately, I feel little need to buy a big, empty manor, or else I'd have to spend Crowns on it, since I could never afford that much, in-game. XD

Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."

Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."

This is exactly the problem I've been having. Different areas and houses, but same problem.

I don't have much gold and I don't want to spend a lot of real money so I'm looking at the small and maybe medium houses. There are a lot of houses in both categories I like, but I have very specific ideas about where my characters want to live and finding a match between the two is difficult.

Before I saw them I was planning to get the small house in Daggerfall, but it's so...square. One square room barely bigger than an apartment, and in the same city as a free inn room, it's just not worth the price to me.

I started exploring all the houses and I'm not sure if that was a great idea or a mistake. I've tried really hard to like some of the sensible choices like Twin Arches or Ravenhurst but I kept on coming back to Mournoth Keep. It's more remote than I wanted, but the scenery is beautiful (and there is a waypoint right there and a town 2 minutes ride away), it's got more inside space than I know what to do with but I'm really excited at the prospect of the garden, there's so many interesting things I could do with that. I just wish it wasn't the 2nd most expensive medium house in the game.

(Although at one point I was considering the large breton house which is almost 3 times as expensive, so I guess it's an improvement over that.)

I'm thinking along the same lines here. I'll get 1 large or medium house, (which one will depend on which style/location/floor plan I like best. Then I'll get a few more smaller houses or apartments located in cities I visit the most. I'll even assign some of my lesser used alt characters to these "outpost" houses for light RP reasons.

Spend some time in all of them, before you make your choice. It took me three days of multiple visits to realize which one I liked.

I'd originally thought I wanted one of the medium houses (I have enough gold that any house was doable)- but the more time I spent, the clearer it became that one of the smalls with a yard was most comfortable and would be easier to furnish.

Plus, if I don't spend too much of my gold and resources on my own place, I can help more with my guilds and friends to share their spaces for things like crafting tables and test skeletons.

    Honestly, I was a bit "meh" on the Ebonheart Chateau. Then, I started putting in extra floors and walls on the second floor balcony on the PTS (Orcish platforms and a few vertically hanging rugs can do WONDERS), and I may have to find a way to afford it now, because a few second-floor rooms really make all the difference.. ;-;

I'm sad that the listing mentions "towers" and yet they are not accessible and also mentions the volcano which you can only see the lava from one corner of the yard if you climb up the wall a bit. There's a lot of potential there, it just needs some love from the devs.

Well, I already decided that at first I will buy the Mathiisen Manor in Auridon because it just fits my Altmer the most: it's huge, beautifully designed, has a pool, large courtyard and I looove Auridon and the Altmer architecture. Then I will start furnishing and decorating this one and will consider it as my main house.

When the above house will be fully furnished and decorated, I will start collecting gold for these houses: large Bosmer house in Grahtwood, medium Imperial house in Craglorn and small Nord house in Riften. And that's all I want. Nothing else. These houses I like the most, each one for different things.

Just start with only one cause you will need even more gold on furnishing and decorating than on a house itself.

My advice, don't rush it. They will come out with more options and you don't want to spend a pile of gold only to kick yourself for it later. See the sites, consider options, sleep on it, then buy when you are more certain. There is no rush, the houses will still be there in a month, 2 or 3 months time, but your gold won't be if you buy on impulse.

I was really excited about decorating a few homes - but my Khajiit feel most at home in Hew's Bane... and there's no housing there.

Also there's no real utility to having a home, barring the dps dummy and the attunable stations, so I may skip it altogether. I'm still trying to reach a decision.

In the end, I may pick the Stros M'Kai large home. Redguard architecture is gorgeous and open, there's plenty of outside garden room, and it'll be the closest thing I'll get to a Hews Bane estate.

Yeah, initially I intended to get a large house or a manor. But I think I'm gonna start with a small or medium house and see how I feel about housing. If I like spending time decorating and hoarding stuff then I'll buy my manor

I recommend buying the largest, most expensive house with crowns. That way you get most from inherent cash-to-gold conversion scheme. It would take quite a few repair kits and considerable time to convert dollars piecemeal into 3M+ gold and here you have perfect opportunity to do it in one big switcharoo.
