There's no need for 3rd party videos. Every house is previewable for free (And in the current interface, requires you to preview it before you buy). You'll be able to walk around the house both unfurnished and furnished.

Don't worry: you'll know exactly what you're getting before you need to spend either gold or crown.

Don't forget that to furniture for the house going to be expensive enough, and even if you stay away from most expensive options (attunable crafting stations, target dummy, statue of Molag Bal and so on), you easily will spend on furniture about same sum or more.

I wanted to live in Marbruk, it's the most beautiful city in the whole game. They placed the house outside the city. :'( I am very disappointed, and I won't buy that one, no point in living outside the gates.
Also wanted to live in Khenarthi, as the view is simply stunning there, and they put a house on a farm in the middle where there's no scenery at all. Disappointed again, shame. :( Dunno what to buy now...

That's Dunmer stuff, which I suppose I am newly intrigued by.

I was all about the Nord stuff but they are a little underwhelming. Mistveil would be the one.

Gonna quote myself here because as we learned in the Chateau specific thread today, they are giving it a usable tower. This solidifies it as my most desired house.

It makes me wish it was a bit like Skyrim, where you bought the base house and could purchase these features as upgrades over time.

Currently they are like any new electronic gadget that comes to market. There are always 3 slightly different versions with unique pros and cons so that none of them is satisfactory no matter which you get.

I spent days trying to decide just which house I wanted.

Yard, no yard. Small vs large. Location, view. So many decisions.

I finally settled on the large Nord house just outside Riften. Riding distance to town, a little outdoor space and a nice 2 story house with a decent view and balcony. Perfect. It also gives me wintery/Skyrim feels which is what I wanted.

I have enough gold to buy the house, but I'm waiting to see if the Crowns option furnished is justifiable for me. I'm still leaning towards gold though.

Hmm Imo that khajiiti house in Rawl'Kha is pretty decent (havent checked them all tho). I love khajiiti style! :)
I have another problem - I want the title from one of manors, but I absolutely hate the way it looks and have no desire to decorate it etc XD Probably I'll end up with a huge empty house with a dps dummy. :(

I'm curious what else they have planned as far as manors ,etc. I'm sure they will put some in DLC zones by the end of the year.
From the videos I have seen the large homes on the AD side look much better than the manor. So I believe they have plans there for sure.

Not sure why that's relevant, but no, so feel free to correct me if I made an incorrect assumption.

I would just find it much more satisfying to preview the home myself. It will come out to all Xbox One players at the same time, so you might as well preview the houses on your account instead of waiting for other Xbox players to do it for you.

View and garden would be perfect combination (with perfect location and your favourite racial style, of course :) ). I'm quite sure small redguard house has roof top balcony, so roof top garden is an option.
A bunch of smalls and mediums is my strategy, too. My plan is to give each of my nine characters their own place to live. Given that there will be two cases of "roommate" pairs, that's seven houses I need to buy. And with how big the large houses are, most small (and a few mediums) are entirely sufficient to give all my girls a cozy home . :)

Fortunately, I feel little need to buy a big, empty manor, or else I'd have to spend Crowns on it, since I could never afford that much, in-game. XD

Good plan. A house per character (or two) make the selection easier. It is funny and wonderful, how easy it is to know, which house belongs to which character.

I very much agree with this. Moonmirt house doesn't have a view nor garden, so it could have just as well be placed in the city. But I still concider buying this. The short walk from the house to Mistral felt just like arriving home.

I am starting huge and buying a manor. After that, I will probably start working towards another manor or 2. That "Count" title sounds nice. The Count of Monte Cristo Tamriel

Wow, lucky you! and wealthy too. That limits the options a little

Yes, I am lucky enough to have started at consoles launch. So I am a wealthier citizen of Tamriel.

I am still torn on which manor to purchase.

It's funny, the one in Port Hunding is my favorite of them all. Lucky for me it's only going for 1.3m :)

Khajiit has many considerations on this subject too.

This one she thinks perhaps it is better to have a small dwelling rather than use up all the slowly obtained coin on a big place that will then remain mostly empty of the furnishings yes.

Khajiit she thinks perhaps the small house in Bangkorai may make a suitable place from which to run a modest tavern yes while keeping a room at The Rosy Lion for business back in town.

This one also considers the possibility that more dwellings may become available later that perhaps may be more suitable to the needs yes.

View and garden would be perfect combination (with perfect location and your favourite racial style, of course :) ). I'm quite sure small redguard house has roof top balcony, so roof top garden is an option.

Unfortunately it's not an option. For whatever reason they made all of the maps the houses are in only just large enough to fit the building - the tallest pre-existing structure is the tallest point of the map.

Which means the invisible ceiling in the small redguard house is just above the roof and there's not enough space to get up there. A lot of people have asked for this to be fixed but I don't think it's an easy thing to change. If it's anything like the map editing programs I've seen you can't change the size of the map you're using once you've started, so they would have to start over from scratch - create a taller empty map and then put the house and everything else back into it.

Redguards seem to have gotten the short end of the stick with small and medium homes. The small one has a little courtyard and a roof that would be perfect for a terrace/roof garden but is inaccessible. The medium one has stairs from the inside to the roof but it's not instanced so although you can go up there you can't decorate it and have to share it with everyone else who has the same house. Maybe ZOS realised they had one of the best (or guaranteed to be more popular) large houses and wanted to make it 'fair'?

More generally I agree that the big walls around the houses are a disappointment and it's definitely affected my choice. I think they did it to help with immersion - from outside it hides the fact that any decorations you've placed in front of your house aren't there until you enter and from inside it hides the fact that the outside is empty of people. But given the choice I'd rather have a low wall or a fence and deal with the lack of immersion than a big wall blocking the view.

That's part of why I chose Mournoth Keep (the orc medium house) - it has a 2nd floor terrace which is high enough that you can see over the wall (and a beautiful view beyond it), and it looks like a small fort so the wall looks less out of place.

Alchemy bench in the garden, cozy fireplace in the kitchen and some design items to play with around, sounds perfect to me (flowers, etc.).

Had storage in other mmos, but that was somehow not practical to visit the house every time you need it a.s.a.p. then go back to the bank where the other stuff is ... so maybe just a local "bank" access then would be sufficient?

I will be buying the house in Bal Foyen, it has a nice little house and a nice garden. The area is great for my farming of mats and i can just pop in for a drink or lunch on one of my rounds..

I also like the house in the north of Bankorai, it is a nice size and has a huge outside area and is reasonable priced at 325 000g,

I dont think i will need a manor quite yet,

Which house I buy will probably depend on how much gold I'm willing to part with.

I tend to be a bit of a hoarder when it comes to all things collectible. That includes gold.

I have plenty of money to buy that bank upgrade, but that means parting with some of my gold. *sigh*

I'll buy that bank upgrade when I have amassed twice what I need. ***a bit later*** I'll buy that bank upgrade when I have three times what I need. ***a bit later*** I"ll buy that bank upgrade when I have four times what I need. Never know when you might need that gold.

I think I'll buy that bank upgrade when I have amassed twice what I need to buy the house.
