If you knew that if you hard casted frags, about half way through started a heavy attack, that the frags will not have an animation and land exactly with the heavy attack (say from a frost staff) just like wrecking blow of old,

Would you consider that a bug?

Anx would that make you wanna use a sorc more?

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the feedback in this thread. We are going to be making tweaks to Velocious Curse for the next PTS build:
    • Velocious Curse – This morph will still cause an echo, but now the explosions will occur at 3.5s and 8.5s, instead of 6s and 12s

We'll enjoy the staff buffs, but curse is pretty much the same as it was before. Unless you're CC'ed or dead, you'll keep a 3.5s curse on your opponent.

@Minalan yeah... I was just jokin because I got use to the idea of using Prey with the buffed Atro and Familiar. Now it's actually not a slam dunk choice lol.

I remember the old math that Prey only beat V curse when all 3 pets were out and hit all attacks during the duration. Now that it will boost the familiar's AoE I wanna see how it compares. Then obviously gotta see what Atro's numbers end up being.

This even works with DDW sorcs. On my Stamblade I run Defensive posture and if you do this which is a bug and reported to zos they just ignore it the CF will go through my reflect.Only a few sorcs know how to use it so I have have that problem to many times.

So I had another idea, too bad no winterborn staff...

    But what about:
    x2 Tremorscale
    x5 winterborn
    x3/x5 something else

On heavy attack we're hopin for a Tremorscale (3kish dmg) + 70% snare, an Ice pillar for approx 4k + 60% snare, and you know the HA damage.

Could time it with Curse for big burst damage (or even maybe a frag?)

    Pulse could also active Winterborn...

Huge amount of snaring (does the 60% stack with the 70%?)

I do like familiar too, but that's not a part of the combos.

Anyway, could be just as bursty as the Stam proc builds. Low cost (zero technically) can go on any class/race.

    Like my idea?

So Tremorscale is gonna do what? 5.5kish damage now? Bringing it to 2.8kish in PvP

    It's getting a 10% dmg nerf

Dunno if that changes the idea much.

    But I'm now thinking

BSW x5 (using jewelry and weapon)
    x5 Alchemist
    x2 Tremorscale

    Using Frost staff backbar.

The heavy armor changes don't change much either way I think.

Poor armor of the trainee, sell that NOW

I tested frost staff on pts and found it impacts too much on magika sustain and I need like 2400 magika regen to use effectively in duels. I could just be playing it wrong though. I did like the cc's frost staff provides.

I am happy with all the changes they made and very happy they actually buffed curse and staff damage rather then nurfed it. I was dreading the purposes curse change.

I will be using these sets. Same as I am on live. I am very happy with this high damage and quite high magika build that involves no pets.

40k magika, 4000 spell damage and 2k magika regen when buffed.

    Destro/restro in use

    1x Grothgar
    1x Infernal guardian
    5x burning Spell Weave
    5x clever alchemist

You mean using block with frost staff? Because that's why desert rose skyrocketed - to combat that sustain issue. You're build doesn't look like it wants to block.

I'm going to use the frost staff for the ranged Tremorscale effect. That snare is just monstrous (having faced it many times), added bonus of damage, and synergies really well with burst.

The downside will be the uptick in abilities that remove harmful effects, such as shuffle (though it is receiving a slight nerf), wyrd, and purge.

There's plenty of choices to be made :)

    I don't know - I really don't know...

I main a DW magsorc using Trainee and heavy armour(at the mo)..

They changed curse/buffed staff , and I was like.: 'Damn, need a new build'

They fixed curse, and I was like ' Yay I can still use my build'

Then they nerfed Trainee and heavy and I'm like 'Damn, I need a new build'

idk, My fairly tanky(and unique) build takes a hit on all sides while the alternatives (destro) just gets stronger..
I'll probably have to drop my fun, unique and interesting build and just go for something really vanilla like VD/lich/monster destro/resto - just because I happen to have the gear for it and won't need to farm.

I'm bored with farming now so won't be going out looking for sharpened BSW fire staves or anything like that... But it just seems like the only interesting(to me) builds that I can come up with now are all at the mercy of rng drops.. I can't be hassled with that.

Hmm. idk how many magsorcs use heavy and DW.. If you're curious, the tankiness isn't from heavy, its from pirate skeleton/shields - the heavy set is a damage set - and heavy is used purely for the stam return when getting hit(think of it as a poor man's Amberplasm). The *huuge* 17k resist I get from it aren't really what provides the survivability.... As I said, its *fairly tanky* it is NOT a tank and it sacrifices damage to get that additional survivability/stam recov.

Depends what you're using it for. To be fair, my resto staff is defending which adds another 5k to that when its out - and if I had the slot space, I could run Boundless Storm for another 5k(still experimenting with that - but I think it means too much of a dmg loss for me) - putting it up to 27k.. Which kind of goes to show that over 1/3 of that resistance isn't from the armour - so with 5 heavy/2 light vs 5 light/2 hvy, the actual difference in resistances when buffed up isn't really that huge.

But as I said, the defence comes from dmg shields/pirate skeleton so rare those armour resists are actually needed, therefore stacking it seems a waste.. But since most of my deaths before this build came from running dry on stam and being unable to break-free (and so unable to shield) - the heavy armour addresses that.
