Do you think zos should raise the gear cp cap to 180?

We can get everything you asked for without raising the cap.

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to raise the gear cap, unless ZoS wants to drive players away from the game. It would only force players to grind out all new sets of gear, just to get back to exactly where they were before the change. It would be a massive headache for every CP 160+ player in the game, and would ultimately give them nothing back in return.

They're going to at some point. Every mmo ever has raised its caps.

For this being an mmo a big section of the community is dead against what keeps an mmo going: change.

The change that keeps an MMO going is stuff that shakes up the gameplay, and makes the game feel fresh and new. Not stuff that makes players do 300+ runs of Maelstrom Arena all over again for no reason.

Even if we could improve gear, there is no way to spin a gear cap increase that makes it a positive change.

The reason to make a change, especially a big change, is to improve the game. "Every other MMO has done it" is not a remotely good reason to force the playerbase to grind for all new gear.

Getting bored with ruby red weapons to be honest. I wish they'd make it possible to craft CP160 weapons with any material. I feel crafting needs a bit of a revamp in the direction of material diversity.

lol use a different style such as xivkyn, shriven, ect.

Most styles, regardless of "Style Material" used, will likely be red due to using the CP150~160 materials. Someone also mentioned weapon dying with colour restrictions, but I've always thought dying a weapon sounds silly, even armour sounds silly but I let that slide due to it making sense for cloth, so might as well just let everyone dye all armour.

My point is slightly off topic sooo...I'm gonna guess CP170~180 gear will happen eventually, unless they want to remove those parameters on gear? I'd have to think about how they could do that successfully it seems interesting to think about it, but that's a topic for another thread!

Please no, getting your CP 160 gear require work, time and gold, upgrading them to golden require even more resources. If the cap will increase to 180 CP most of us will get a lot of useless expensive golden items bound to character so we can't even trade them to recover some money, just to deconstruct and get less than our items worth when they were purple.

CP180 gear is when I will leave the game. Don't bother asking for my stuff, it will all be CP160 anyway.

Thanks to content scaling there is simply NO EXCUSE to ever raise cap to CP180. Gear was attached to vet levels and there was no Vet 18. CP has nothing to do with it.

Raising gear cap would only be a disgusting gear grab and time sink to sell some DLC, the moment that happens im gone.

dido, i'd have 100s of useless pieces of junk, plus another 50 VMA weapons, a year of work down the tubes

here in lies the problem...when they released Imp City, they actually had Vet 18 mats in the game...it was data mined.

so we know it actually exists...it's just a case of do ZOS do the right thing by the players and release new content (not half-zones, odd dungeons, and SIMS), or just try to make people keep playing the same thing over and over and over again, mindlessly grinding out gear and mats

Please don't raise the gear cap. I won't invest the time I spent in grinding the gear again, I'd rather quit. This would basically destroy the game for me. I'd be okay with it if they let us scale up the gear we have.

LOL "progression." If you are going to use that word can you at least make it meaningful? How bout I just delete all your stuff and make you grind it again? Is that progression? Is that what keeps an MMO going?

A gear cap raise does NOTHING for your character. You get slightly higher stats but then you fight CP180 mobs that have slighting higher resistances and hit harder. NOTHING CHANGES.

This is just a stupid vertical progression treadmill. I cant believe that anyone that plays this game is fooled by it. There is a way to have meaningful progression in this game, its called Horizontal progression.

There is another word for horizontal progression: Content.

Making everyone's gear useless and forcing everyone to grind the same content at a higher level is NOT content. Some of us are actually happy playing the game for the game's sake and not spending every hour of precious game time grinding.

Using this logic we should all have level 1 characters and no champion points and ZOS should have just scaled the game to level one. I find it funny how more levels suddenly becomes "pointless progression" once people reach the current max level.

You really don't seem to understand the problem, do you?

You see, we already had "level increases", from V12-V14 and from V14-V16.
They followed what we know from other mmos: A way to progress, to improve.
And you know what? People hated it, the endless farming or improving equipment to legendary, that took so long and suddenly the invested time was worth sh**. People were super frustrated.

Now, to avoid another Desaster, we had CP introduced as a way of progression and wrotghar + cyrodiil as first zones with experimental battle leveling.
It worked out and was expanded on all other zones.

Now we have the possibility to play every content at any level, progress just by playing (CP) and no more fear of increased equipment Level.
There is simply no reason anymore for that.

The progression happens trough CP now, everything makes sense and works. What do you want to change or achieve by having higher CP Gear introduced?

The frustration will be crazy (think about endless vmsa farming, set farming, everything. Everything AGAIN).

So again: What do you think will be "progress" if gear is on CP180 suddenly?

I prefer CP160 which works out fine, where CP is the way to "improve", and where the Devs don't have to worry about endless rebalancing and focus on new content instead, thanks to Gear Level 160 being the maximum.

Now I understand your point of view.
ZOS sees People at maxed equipment and current max CP.

Your next logical step is increasing CP cap, max gear level , making everything currently useless and forcing a grind to make the stuff that became useless, useful again.

    My next logical steps:
    - Increase CP Cap
    - Introduce Housing
    - Introduce new content, like a new zone. vvardenfell, clockwork city, mephalas realm, murkmire, we got lots to chose from.
    - Introduce new Skill trees
    - Expand current skill trees
    - Introduce the highly anticipated "Warden" class

And all of this happens, without a equipment max level increase and still it's lots to do.

There is a way to get people to play more, and it isn't making every piece of gear in every maxed player's inventory useless. Give us a new landmass to explore, new quests to complete, new trials to figure out, new dungeons to delve, new gear to grind.

Raising the gear cap would force us to grind the same content that many of players have already spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours grinding. I guarantee you that all these maxed level players do not want to do another few thousand runs of vMA to get all of the Maelstrom Inferno Staves and Maelstrom Daggers all over again. It wouldn't get people to play more of the game, it would get them to leave the game in droves.

I prefer CP160 which works out fine, where CP is the way to "improve", and where the Devs don't have to worry about endless rebalancing and focus on new content instead, which is at CP160.

Idk why it is so hard for you guys to understand that there will never be a point in an MMO when you have the best gear, max skills and never have to get another piece of gear ever again. The name of the game is progression pointless or not. We will be getting higher CP gear at some point because eventually ZOS will look at the data and see everyone sitting at max cp in all gold gear and not playing as much as they used to.

Edit: Also this isn't happening anytime soon.

Lol when did CP become the only acceptable form of grinding? I remember people crying about how Vet levels were a pointless grind, now armor is a pointless grind. Is it because CP is just so easy to get that everyone is fine with that grind?

After spending so many months farming the gear I have now, and still not having it all gold... This would be enough reason for me to just start playing a different game. Don't want to start all over on gear.

i would 100% quit the game. It's took me so long to gold out all my gear on different characters. That would be the final straw for me.
