Here's why I'm burnt out right now.

Foreword: I am still playing ESO, I still actively log on and get my hirelings, feed the few horses that aren't fatties yet, and list stuff in my guild stores. This IS NOT a post flaming the game, this IS NOT a "!&% ZoS, I'm leaving the game" post.

Currently, I am CP 600 something. My main has his 2 gold farmed sets, and his monster set. I have millions of gold (vague for a reason). I have all nine traits on all armors. I have done all (emphasis on all) the non-repeatable quests in the game, have most of the achievements, and have/can complete most of the vet/hardmode dungeons/trials blindfolded. While I am a mainly a PVE'er, I do PVP but the lag and the proc set B.S. has me avoid Cyrodiil and only doing IC in small spurts.

The last content we recieved was One Tamriel - and while I enjoyed this... it was nothing but a reflush of the same content most of us high CPers have done before. Nothing new was added (save some re-vamped dungeons, and repeatable Guild quests to make us do content most of us have already done).

The content before that was Shadows of the Hist which released August 1st and was pretty much 2 dungeons. I have now done these so many times (especially since they pop up every other day as the DLC pledge), that my ears bleed when I hear Vel call me "sweet-meat".

The content before that - and in my honest opinion was the last REAL content we received with any meat on it - was Dark Brotherhood which was released May 31st, 2016. That was 206 days ago, rounding up. And I loved this xpac, even though it was as meaty as say Wrothgar. I played it and the storyline, I explored, I did world bosses every day and did the bounty boards every day. I loved it.

But that was 206 days ago. And now, the next "big content" release is going to be Housing. In February. If they released Homestead on February 1st, it would be 40 days from today. That is 246 days I have played the same content, and done the same things in game - over and over. Even counting SotH, I would've done each of those dungeons at least 50 times each by now, had I played every day and done my pledges.

But let's reel-it-back, a bit. Take into account I do not count either the Witches' Festival or the New Life Day Festival as new content. Take into account I do not count repeat-ables (that we've ALREADY DONE, aka new Guild 1Tam stuffs) as new content.
Homestead will drop in 40 days though, right? Then I get to get my house (or houses) and decorate them really nice, and sink some gold into it, and then..... what's next? Probably nothing. There will be class balancing, and such - but nothing will change in the tasks I can do.

So what's after Homestead? I'll be generous and say they drop a real DLC on April 1st, 2016 (extra-ordinarily unlikely, but I'm being pretty generous here, ZoS). IF, that happens, we still will have had the same quests, PVP map, and other misc tasks to fill our time for 305 days.

305 days of nothing new. Nothing exciting. In all honesty, I've enjoyed more of my time watching the forums rage about crown crates and broken sets than doing... whatever I do now.

So, I don't really understand the point of this post but give me feed-back. Say I'm wrong, say I'm crazy. Tell me how you spend your time in game meaningfully rather than eye-balling what other games are on sale RIGHT NOW (cough). Please, for the love of Nirn, just don't tell me I'm possibly, probably right.

Sincerely,
A Concerned Argonian

There really isn't anything new here over every other MMO in the history of games. The advantage here is you know you have new stuff coming in update 13.

WoW you had to wait another maybe 18 months for anything new at all most of the time. So while I understand the issues (I've reached them as well in other games) nothing is going to be done about this, nor can it be really.

Then why pay $15 a month for 18 months or so? And, if we're talking WoW, there xpacs are all the size of Wrothgar. I'd settle for one of those every 18 months.

At a guess, Murkmire in Update 14. Granted, that will probably be May, so almost exactly a year after Dark Brotherhood.

I'd say get into PvP. Put on some heavy armor and the proc sets aren't that bad. The lag... well, its awful. Try to play during the slower hours if you can. It helps a bit.

I do a few months of pve til i get bored then a few months pvp. repeat until new content.

It's fair for you to feel that way. You have consumed the content they have, and now you want more. This is fair for a game you enjoy.

But you shouldn't expect to get a constant stream of new content or zones. No one has the developing time or budget for that. One dungeon's worth of content that takes a player an hour to knock out needs dozens of development hours of layout, art and story design, voice acting, testing, and programming. The fact is that the devs just can't create new stuff at the same rate their players consume it. So, at some point, any highly dedicated player is going to bottom out.

So... go play something else for a little while. When I feel burned out on something, I go do something else for a while... either boot up a different game, or pick up a book I've been meaning to read, or write in my own fictional universe. Such breaks are refreshing, and give the game time to build up new content. I did that to ESO about two years ago, and when I came back, I had TG and DB to start chewing through.

So maybe accept that you've done pretty much all you want to do in the game, and go try a different game for a while. This one will still be here when you come back.
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

To be fair, One Tamriel probably took some doing.

Not new content, but a change that needed to be made.

They didn't manage to do that. After Craglorn they went into a content freeze in order to get Unlimited out.

There's also been a lot of "iffy" content releases. The Justice System and Champion Ranks were 3 month content, for instance.

One Tamriel is weird, because it is new content, just none of it applies to players who've been playing the game for a significant amount of time.

For newbies, it appears to tripple the amount of content, and allows them to skip stuff they're not enjoying.

So it is "new" content. Just not for us.

Same here. For now I just do the daily New Life quests, some PvP and in the meantime play Path of Exile, there's not much else to do. But I don't mind, I've played MMO's long enough to understand their cycles and planned out my gaming time with it in mind, as I will always have backup games to play at any given time.

I felt like that a while ago on my main but managed to breath new life into the game for myself on my tank but its slowly getting old already its still same stuff just from another role but maybe that an idea for you.

If not maybe its time to take a break. I'm not even sure how much amd especially how long any new dlc will take that feeling away.

It all depends on how you play.

I fish.. or wander... or do a side quest and then get distracted by gathering stuff.

I have been playing since about a month after PC release and have not yet done all the original content, never mind all the DLCs (I sub).

I do agree, if you are bored, take a break. for me this can mean working and not being able to play, or playing one of my lowbies, or someone from a difference alliance (I know, with One Tam you CAN go everywhere, but usually I don't).

Or I play a class I haven't played (and leveled) in a while.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
      ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
