ZOS, this was such a stupid idea to do the festival like this

There is so much lag in Eastmarch you can barely move at the quest location and even away from it the delay is so ridiculous you have to wait for enemies to die. There should of been a momento that once you got you could use from anywhere to get the double XP. With the need to come back to Eastmarch every 2 hours this lag is never going to get better until the Festival is over.

its like this in every mmo. it will die down once people get their rewards.

I've crashed twice already just getting from Breda to the closest wayshrine on PS4 Pro.

I wouldn't say every MMO. I remember thousands of players packing into "dwarf city" in World of Nerdcraft on Christmas and it never lagged really.

Why is the number of players per instance so high to start with when it's obvious the servers can't handle it. The game would run much better if they lowered the population per instance.

I didn't even get to do any quests, I ported into Eastmarch, couldn't talk to Breda, DC'd and now I can't log back into that character. Absolute amateur hour by Zenimax. What were they thinking? They mean't well but they really should of known their servers couldn't handle this. Should of made more then one quest giver instead of just Breda.

    Horrible implementation!

One NPC gives the quest out (LAG). Gives 1 out of 9 quests randomly until all 9 are complete (RETURN TO LAG). Can't share with group members so we can actually PLAY TOGETHER. I could abandon each quest until we get the same one but that could potentially take forever.

I'm not participating. You can if you want but I don't want the frustration.

Edit: Stand corrected. One of the quests shared for me, while others would not.

except it won't because everyone has to goto the 1 spot repetitively to do the quests.

I'm not surprised really. But they should have put her in more zones to dish out the quests, and/or like you say, given a memento for the XP. There's a nice empty desert in Alik'r, so she could have also been put just outside Sentinel, and I'm sure there's somewhere near Vulkwasten that she could be. Like, on a tree.

They just now learn these things, maybe next events would be better. This is better then previous events (not just double exp not just drop) but now quests too.

This event is good, but just don't do that the first day :) We have lots of time to do this :)

Outta curiosity, is the lag only affecting Eastmarch? Or is it chugging in like Glenumbra too? I ask because if it is isolated to that region then I will just skip doing the festival all together and simply go about my merry business as usual in the game.

Could be they saw a chance to stress test some things, get some valuable data, and have a backup in place to activate to ease off.

"We believe this can handle X. It's supposed to be a beast that can take it. Here's a chance to road test this thing and then we will not be guessing, we will *know*. We will have hard knowledge."

But most forum commenters instead question whether the devs are smart enough to know the diff between a square and a triangle.

In most cases, i would agree with this however with the xp buff as a keg next to the npc, i doubt it would calm down until after the event. Everyone will hang out, afk and just 'be' there on top of those active on the quest.

Either way you want to look at it, it is a bad design to funnel everyone into one zone/area for a quest. It is an absolutely horrible idea for any game that is already suffering lag and other code based issues.

Think about it this way, we're only 2 hours in the event and during the business hours for the NA audience: How bad do you think it will get when it is prime time tonight, or better yet when it is the weekend?

The one thing i dont get: The Halloween event had the ability to apply the buff when and where you wanted for a holiday that traditionally would have someone going door to door (aka trick or treating). The holiday/new year event on the other hand has you going to a npc for a treat???

Is it me, but isn't this a tad backwards?

If you were in the Crown Store, where you are supposed to be, instead of Eastmarch, this would not be a problem. Buy a few (hundred) Crown Crates to keep yourself busy.

One Tamriel isn't the problem, the number of players they have set per instance is.

Doubt that. There are, and always have been, population caps. I can't speak to whether or not they have been increased or decreased with One Tamriel, but there were most definitely similar issues with getting the cake on the Anniversary event. And that event could be started in any of the 3 starting zones.
