Imperial City etiquette?

I know some people love grinding TelVar for whatever reason

I love grinding out my new characters in Sewers and City, I mostly stay to outside edges and I try to avoid flags

so the last character I was leveling up took me about 2 days, and I must admit I rarely go to IC as it is, and the last couple times I was there I never saw low level characters attacked and infact people that cared about the flags (at least on DC side) - stayed clear and only around flags and only attacked enemy players that went up against them

but this last time I was leveling a EP magicka Nightblade, and I ran into multiple AD and DC players who were geared, CP capped - and even aftter I went to Sewers or different districs of the city - followed and kept killing me - Id understand if they let me get some TelVar on me, but killing me 5 mnts later (after I had to respawn, go to proper gate, get through loading screen top side) - they weren't even making any TelVar off of me

that just makes you terrible PVP players, that you would go after a low level player with training gear on

I whispered a few of them and asked if they felt better because obviously they have a hard time surviving in Cyrodil if they have to go to City and kill someone who is just grinding XP (my XP from Ambrosia and Scroll were on so ANYONE could see them buffs) - and I was told that apparently I am a bad PVP player because I couldn't kill a CP capped Nightblade Ganker or Templar with gear equipped to kill other players ...

Lots more people are now farming in IC for the alchemist bags. You only give up half your tel var stones per death, so killing you a few times to clean you out is for good measure.

Seeing someone with ambrosia or a scroll going is a prime target for receiving hate tells - as you admit to doing in response. You encouraged their behavior by sending them tells in the heat of the moment. Many players play with the goal of people becoming angry at them.

AFAIK you're not gaining anything by stacking ambrosia with scrolls, unless they've made some change or the new 150% ones stack with scrolls. https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/30136/~/can-i-stack-the-bonuses-of-psijic-ambrosia-and-crown-experience-scrolls-with

It's a PVP zone. There are dozens of other zones you can grind in. There are dozens of other zone you can farm alchemy mats in. And no one knows what gear you are wearing, if you have an XP pot up, or whether or not you are twinked out on a low level character with max CP and lots of pvp experience.

I don't get the complaint that you should go to a pvp zone and not encounter pvp?

PvP zone. The whole point is the danger of enemy players. You really can't have a reasonable expectation of not being attacked in both Cyrodiil or IC.

coming across "cool" players in IC can be a bit of a hit or miss...most are seasoned pvpers and pretty chill, some are shoot first, ask questions later...

generally if you run across 3 or more players - someone's gonna try to light you up and the others will just go along...

get gud :) with your emotes though - they've saved me many many times over...and, solo means stay in stealth - always, if you have a stamina issue with that, fix it...

I leveled a character in about 2 days in the PvE zones, just chasing Skyshards, Dolmens and Public Dungeons in about 5 zones* . No quests other than those in the Delves that have Skyshards. I could have done some grind spots and made it happen even faster, but my way I get a nice amount of skill points from the skyshards that I would have to farm anyway.

*Lets see Auridon, Glenumbra, Deeshan, Alikir and Rivenspire got me to L46 just getting all the Blue Lorebooks, skyhards, the public dungeons and the 3 dolmens in each zone. I did do a Dolmen Rotation Pattern in Alikir as it is so easy to for a couple of hours to level FG. That would be the only downside, is not leveling FG for a Stam Character, but this is a Mage so there you go.

really not complaining about dying to anything, but repeatedly killing someone over and over? who cares what gear they are wearing, and low levels at that

I see this in Cyrodil too, I understand, that 200-300 AP you are going to get is going to break bank for you, carry on

I personally try and kill anyone I see. It is a war zone, and I have been trained to kill the enemy. If I see red or yellow, I think kill.

I'm not there to be your friend, i am there to kill you. Also, I go to IC not because I have a hard time fighting, IC is where I get my items to sell.

I mean, it's a PvP zone, you know what you're getting into.

Yeah, it's in bad taste to beat up on lowbies over and over again, but there's nothing stopping them.

And honestly, there is so little action in the sewers these days that those players will probably take anything they can get. As a magblade you should be able to avoid most unwanted encounters.

Lots of groups are just clueless in IC. Like a gank squad ganking people coming OUT of the base. Derp! You just got 0 telvar and alerted everyone that you are there.

But I'm not sure how they followed you - you can emerge from IC in 5 different locations, then go below in the sewers in 5 locations. If I see a group like you are describing I just go to a completely unpredictable location. There's no way they can follow you if you re-emerge in a completely different precinct on the opposite side of the city.

I try some basic etiquette. I was running a group of 4 others and myself earlier today and we pretty much dominated the districts. There was another group of EP that was maybe a little bigger and a few small AD groups. We pretty much only attacked them if they came after our flags or came after us and after we gave them a good few beatdowns they pretty much gave us a wide berth and we let them... Otherwise, I don't particularly enjoy running over players that have effectively 0 chance of winning. Especially in IC where I don't want to encourage the giant zergs to form and come kill us.

    Imperial City etiquette:

    Is it red? Kill it.
    Is it blue? Kill it.
Is it yellow? Help it, unless they start whining about you taking chests. (If they do that, block it and laugh at their corpse when they get ganked.)
Never carry more Tel Var than you can afford to lose.
Never message the enemy, except to say "good fight".
Inform people in /zone if you see a hostile zerg or group.
    Don't pull banners over friendlies.
    Have fun!

IC has no rules. Just common sense and faction loyalty. You don't like it? Grind somewhere else.

Also, if a hostile group is killing topside bosses by all means kill them. It is their choice to take the risk, and if they can't defend themselves they deserve to die.

You should definitely wear training gear while skysharding. It take me around 30 hours to fully skyshard a character minus DLC zones (around 315 skyshards in total) and they are usually level 40-45 when I'm done. This of course includes lorebooks to mage10 and doing delve bosses/dolmens. I only do world bosses if they are UP when I run by them - no waiting. It's a short ~1 hour grind to hit 50 from there, then focus on skill lines and morphs for another decent grind (4-8 hours sometimes). I usually get a good 30-50 champ points out of the skill leveling process, but I am OCD thorough and level all morphs that I have any chance of using. I don't level stam morphs on a High Elf for example but literally everything else I do.

And the Willpower/Agility sets are not nearly as important as they used to be now that most builds involve running jewelry pieces from a 5p set instead.
