Nobody's questioning the legitimacy of crates and your understanding of fairness is unbalanced and just the wrong word to use when describing a gamble

The people who visit the forums make up a very small part of the population of this game.

One thing you failed to understand, many of us have friends in the game. Friends influence friends to do things :)

Will I tell my 500 friends to buy crates? No. Will my 500 friends tell their friends to buy crates? No. Will their friends tell their friends to buy crates? No.

I think you get the point.

Tell everyone you want once people decide they want a mount or an aura they will spend the coin if you railed in guild chats for an hour.

I hate the crown crates, they are going to be spectacularly successful.

Going to Vegas and gambling is a suckers bet too, but how many of us adults have done that for fun? Hate the crates all you want, but don't bash any buyers. I get mocked by my wife for being 50+ and shelling out big bucks on gaming computers. I'm the one who got 2 degrees and earned a lot, I'll spend it on whatever I want. I'm more interested in the housing though, and that looks like in game gold.

wow a lot of crying over this

    1. You don't have to purchase the crates.
    2. the money helps run the game.
    3. and last they are really nice that you aren't stuck with the same item over and over again. You can at least turn them in to get and save for an item you don't have.

its funny I think a lot of you complain to define your life, cause if you could get these mounts or other "special items" that aren't otherwise purchased directly you'd either complain about the price of each item, the fact that they maybe put on a time schedule to be purchased, cry about the emersion factor of seeing these types of things, or all of the above. Some of you are never happy with anything it seems

I think you guys need to back off.

What you're saying is generally pretty rude now days. Before it was about "The Health of the Game"

Now what you're saying is, hahahaha daddy's credit card, suckers, morons etc etc.

Isn't it someones prerogative to spend money on what "the user" wants to buy?
The item is still intellectual property of ZOS but I think you should be able to spend money on what you want.

I don't see a massive issue with someone buying $200.00 pairs of shoes if that's what they enjoy? Different story I know as it's something you'll own theoretically "forever".

If people have that much of an issue with it they should just step away from ESO, agree they had a good run while it lasted and move on. Post after post of banter and crown crates you guys seriously need to grow up a little.

The end of the day, if it was my business I'd do what I could to maximize profit and obtain more and more cash flow and that's exactly what they have done to a Tee.

They have cornered people (including myself) which I take no for and against in this crap. That something is cool and something that is deemed exclusive with a game I thoroughly enjoy and now I and others like me want it.

I don't see the difference between this and needless advertising on TV for more "junk" that every tom $@%@ and harry runs out to buy every other week...

    Like come on... guys.

I just feel sorry for the new players, who didn't know about this and bought this game on the black friday sale - as intended...
I actually feel relieved - 3 months of waiting and feeling sad about this. Now it is done and I'm glad Skyrim was released a month earlier - made it all easier for me.
Sadly this is also a bad sign for Zenimax group - as all things are connected somehow... :(

"Crown Crates are purchased through the Crown Store, and contain a randomized selection of useful consumables that are valued more than the price of a single crate"

A couple of potions and xp scrolls aren't worth it..especially since you'll likely get some crap argonian or khajiit accessory with them.

Save your $, don't be suckered by shiny mounts.

Honey you're the one complaining about people's entirely valid criticism.
    1. You don't need to read the criticism.
    2. The people criticizing are saying that they are being prevented from spending money on content, not complaining that they would need to spend money.
    3. The items in the gambling boxes could just as easily make money in the Crown Store, possibly even more than what they will to incentivize gambling. It's all a huge risk on ZOS's part.
    4. Inventing a worse scenrio does not make the current scenario more palatable.

Or up till this Thursday consumers were able to see a product, see a price, and make a decision on if they felt the cost was worth the want and this was the way a company had conducted business for two years.

Then two years in the process changed and you can no longer buy the things you see in the store you can buy a chance at thing you see in the store.

Here is a thought, go to your favorite restaurant, order you favorite dish you have been getting for years.

When the waiter says you can't buy that but you can buy a chance at it and oh you can keep buying chances at it until you get enough stuff you don't want, then we will give your <insert favorite dish here>

See if you would keep going to that restaurant, then tell me how this is different.

Without making some smart ass generalization that undermines a lot peoples frustration with a rather significant way to the way ZOS is handeling the crown store moving forward.

I for one am really looking forward to the Crown Crates! Shut up and take my crowns! HYPE!

The items are bound to character so they cant be traded, and impact the economy - thus keeping the game from becoming PTW. ZOS has stuck by their promise of keeping consumables that are better than crafted ones OFF the store.
Crying foul so quickly is just silly guys. The sky isnt falling, this isnt breaking the game. Its cosmetic items. Its going to be the same game, I dont mind spending money I earn on a game I love to maybe get something awesome! Its kind of a thrill to be able to ride something that not many people can have. I mean, how awesome was the Guar mount and the Firey horse mount when you saw EVERYONE riding it. You're paying for exclusivity, which I can get behind. Anyway just my 2 cents.

I would rather pay 10k crowns for a mount I want than spend even 10 crowns for one that I don't.

I've played this game long enough to know RNG is not in my favor. Zenimax really wants me to put my real money in their hands?
Its basically gambling. Why not throw up an ESO Poker site.

I do NOT have an issue spending tons of money on this game. I horseback ride irl and my hobby is EXPENSIVE. Zenimax give me something concrete. The lottery is a poor man's game for a reason. I know better than to think I'm going to get struck by lightning.

Hey! I ride horses too! What breed are your horses/horse?

So they lied outright when they said they would not contain exclusive mounts or cosmetic items, that they would only contain ones that were previously in the Crown Store as Limited Offers so people had a chance to get them. I think many people assumed you'd be able to get the storm atronach mounts another way.

    Not surprised...

The sale of cosmetic items is what's keeping this game afloat, and they decided to take a huge amount of the items that have been developed and not actually put them up for sale, but give you the option to gamble for them. If you don't mind spending money on the game (and nobody here minds spending money on it) then why not argue that they should be put in the regular Crown Store? After all, that's the only way you'd be spending money on it. Otherwise you're risking money on it, which is totally different and awful. People want the items sold directly, not this BS roll of the dice. But ZOS is saying now that they're perfectly OK with people spending money and not getting content. If that's doesn't look like a falling sky to you then you might already be oxygen deprived.

If that's doesn't look like a falling sky to you then you might already be oxygen deprived.

*struggles to breathe* guess I am. I am not going to continue to argue this on the forums. Basically you are saying it is your way or no way and the people that WANT them don't deserve to be heard. I like owning something that others dont. I enjoy having something rare, and others dont have. I hope I get lucky, I might not. I am fine with that. I like seeing someone who looks different and think "wow he got the such and such what a lucky guy!" This isn't the first MMO I have played that has had these loot boxes before, but from t he sounds of it, many of you haven't. Trust me when I say what is in them isn't going to break the game, its just going to make you envious.

Not gonna lie, that's a pretty gross outlook.

Hundreds of dollars and you don't even get to choose which mount you want.

ZOS is defecating in your mouth and calling it dinner.

Gifv links are broken, like the bond of trust we had between developer and consumer.
