I used to name MMO toons with slight puns from my name.
Like May Onnaise, May Poles, May Bush, etc. It's boring.

But it wasn't boring enough soooo... I threw some money at ZOS and renamed my toon after my last name.

Now it's mega boring and ultra unimaginative.

I find naming policy in ESO ***. There are, as Zos said, 7 000 000 + players that made an account. And we all have to make different name? I understand why accounts must be unique, but with names, its simply ***. As if every single person has unique name irl.

I initially just wanted my character to be called Shiva (naive I know), but because that name was obviously already taken I turned to Ta'agra for something with a little more oomph and finally decided upon Mor'khrass, which translates to Darkclaw. So, Shiva Mor'khrass.

Asardes

My characters are:

1) Asardes has been my gamer name since the early days, when I was playing Counterstrike and Starcraft at local internet cafes because the keys are very close together and the pronunciation invokes a certain antique feeling. This has been the name of my chars in Morrowing, Oblivion and Skyrim, and he was also a Nord. I made this char to look like me, but I was fatter back then so he looks somewhat chubbier than me now.

2) Alxaril Nelcarion - elven version of my own name, only superficial resemblance to myself though - I don't have pointy ears IRL; neither do I shoot bolts of lightning or summon mini-dinosaurs to assault people.

3) Dro'Bear Three-paws - I have an old orange tabby tomcat called Bear which I adopted from a shelter where he was brought after he had an accident which completely severed his left back limb. He was probably a stray most of his life but he is a very happy house cat now. He is very sneaky and snatches any available food, so I've made him a Nightblade in game.

4) Veronique Nicole - french version of my wife's name. They look very alike, but the game version is much feistier. My wife would never use puncturing or radiant on anyone IRL.

5) Ervesa Neloren - simply a combination of two common Dunmer names. She loves to set people, beasts and demons on fire with her breath, sweeps and whip. An evil relative of hers is rumored to be lurking in an abandoned Kwama mine in Deshaan.

6) Fendar Khodwin - similar to Frandar Hunding, he looks a lot like Shaft (the 1970s version) in game. He moves like a hurricane and strikes like a thunderbolt.

7) Surilanwe of Lillandril - a tall, timid, blonde girl, with a typical Altmer name, who nevertheless would swallow soul and impale on any foe.

8) Joleen the Swift - a petite, agile Redguard girl who will mercilessly jab enemies to pieces and then repent their stiff bodies.

9) Plays-with-Sunray - a deceptively cute name for a lizard who would use that ray on any enemy missing more than half his HP.

Kelces

Due to the fact, that in the culture of some native americans tribes (where by the way some sort of serpent race is highly revered), the letter K is of much importance. So I chose the name I came up with some years ago and already used in other MMO games and here gave my argonian, Kelces.

I figured, it would be appropriate, because there is a character, I remembered from Oblivion. And a master wizard therefore of course.

The other characters are combined names and surnames I gathered from the wiki, nothing really creative there.

The names I have for my characters are mostly inspired by the book series Malazan: book of the fallen by Steven Erikson. In fact even the builds and gear I try to keep to themes found in that series like the malazan marines, sappers, necromancers or the mage assassins.

My gaming nickname has been "kamikaze" for my "if I can't win, I'll take you with me" style since TradeWars games back in BBS days, now I make some variant of it for all my character names.

Kamimark is "mark" for marksman (and also my first name), usually used for a hunter type, here a Dunmer archer.
My current main is Kamillon, an Altmer glass cannon Sorcerer.
My sneaky assassin is Kaiamia, had to really anagram the name to get something fit for a Redguard girl.

Coming up with a personal theme and working from it means you never have to try "xxxAragornxxx".

I go to UESP and derive names from the prefixes and suffixes, like the Arena names.

My main is Lilelle, and my second character is Vaynothah. They're both Dark Elves.

I also have an Argonian Nightblade named Swallows-The-Sun.

I like having names that are at least mostly lore-friendly.

So, eight of my toon names are Daveheart or character variations of Daveheart (Ðaveheart, Däveheärt, Dåveheart, etc.).

Of the four toons I've got that are named differently, I have two named after baseball players, one is a Khajiit named Lion El Richie, and the last (and my first toon in this game) is named after Helaran Davar, one of the lesser known characters from Branden Sanderson's Stormlight Archive.

Fun topic. Mine are:

I've got eight characters, but only a few are worth explaining:

Dru'Silla: a dunmer (soon-to-be) vamp named after one of my favourite fictional vampires, Drusilla (of Buffy the Vampire fame); the apostrophe gives it an Elder Scrolls sorta feel, obv. I even tried to make her look a bit like her namesake! Don't have any nice red dyes on PS4 yet (sweet mother of Talos, I miss my PC account dyes), but I'm working on it:

Necrotic gra-Nuloma: Get it? Necrotic granuloma? This is (obviously) a lady orc. I plan on giving her a cancerous build, worthy of her name.

Bartleby the Shrivener: My RL cat is named Bartleby, after the Herman Melville short story, "Bartleby the Scrivener." (Trust me, if you've read the story, you'll know why that's a perfect name for a cat.) So my Khajiit inherited the name as well, and to give it an ESO-feel, I turned "Scrivener" into "Shrivener." Because, y'know, soul-shriven and all. I regret not having ESO on PS4 when the IC anniversary pack went on sale, as he obviously needs the skin.

Forgets-To-Block: An Argonian DK that I plan on turning into a tank. Heh.

It's nord ladies all the way, the wife prefers it as it means she can justify ogling polldark on BBC lol. Name wise it's either Scandinavian or Russian as they just seem to fit and I've known a few folks from that general area when I was in university. The appearance is mostly based on the uk lady gladiators I met at a signing event after the live show in 1995. I still think the wife reminds me of Jet from the show only taller so one is basesd on that, of course my better half says she looks nothing like her which isn't really true

My 1st character was an Imperial sorcerer, but i later changed him to Breton. He still has the Imperial name from the Skyrim character i named him after. I also added the last name from Audens Avidius from Oblivion

I named my NB Shrödinger's Khajiit (obviously a refrence to Edwin Shrödinger and "Shrödinger's cat")


Other than that I've used a name generator and change it around to make it a bit more personal.

I like just about everything about the khajiit so all my characters are khajiit and have khajiiti names (except the NB that is)


My DK is called Dra'Nahla (it is not intended as a lion king refrence. I got something similar in a name generator and then I changed it a litle)

My temp is called Dra'Athara

And my crafter is called Dar'Akihn

I was considering naming my dk on dovahzul(Dragon language) but decided a normal khajiiti name would be better
