Was this cheating or just very very good?

Odd sight this evening. Chap in Dhalmora craft place just going round & round the traders' lock boxes & picking the locks in plain sight of ncps who utterly ignored him. Tried to interact & ask how was doing it as impressed but no response. Was he invisible to them & not to me? Tried to stealth in same places & was detected. (Have screen shots as could not believe it but lord knows how to post them here from ps4.)

So, were they actually <that> good - or were they cheating? And if yes, HOW?! This is on PS4 EU...

It's possible that he was stealing and was getting caught. Not all npcs will aggro on a thief. If there are no guards around, he may just be quickly forcing the lock and moving on. I'm not saying this is for sure what happened, but it's a possibility.

None of the npcs seemed to even see him, even when he was robbing them and they were standing next to him! Have done a lot of thieving so know the risks but usually someone says something - especially if doing it over & over again in the same place. Was just - incredulous. Never seen play like it.

I've thieved in that area before and it can be done very fast. He may have gear on that reduces his detection radius. There are one or two boxes where NPC's linger, but many of the others in that area can be quick grabs.

when i was farming for an in game achievement (sell 1,000,000 worth of stolen goods to a fence) so i could unlock a really really pretty colour

i was just forcing locks in plain sight of the NPC's, there were no guards, 1 of the NPC's would occasionally attack & i would just kill it

i managed to fill my inventory (200 slots) with purple & blue items (up to 50 of some item) used my gold edict from thieves guild reward, and it only took 1 day for the remaining bounty to disappear,

so chances are this person was stealing goods & didnt care about the bounty - no cheat just a reasonably easy way to make money in game

7 piece medium armor with full sneak passives and 3 piece Night Terror jewelry is what I use for thievery even on Magicka characters. Add in Thieves Guild final passive and you can practically steal from under their noses. Enchant your jewelry with potion duration and an invisible pot could last for half a minute, for the really tough situations.

Or they might not care about the bounty.

Thanks for the replies - so probably wasn't cheating. Just was so blatant!

So he was very good at thieving. Impressed.
