How to make an attractive female imperial face?

Hello,

I am very choosy in the character select screen and I cannot make a character until it is perfect. I am wondering if there is any pointers to creating an attractive imperial female face? I have a lot easier time creating elf races in comparison and I cant progress past the character select screen because I am terrible at making an attractive imperial face.

This is rather hard to answer since attractiveness is a personal matter... so without some outlines of how you want her to look, I highly doubt anyone can really help.

Click the "Ebonheart Pact" icon, and underneath that, click the "Dunmer" icon.

      You're welcome.

You just have to play around with the different sliders. Things like hair color and style and eye color will completely change the way a face can look. Also eyebrow type, cheekbones, chin height, how soft or angular a face is etc.

On Imperials, if you go towards the "soft" facial features (lower left of the triangle in the character generation screen), that seems to be a good start on an attractive face. It does take a little time ... sometimes even using the random selection button while locking the face selection triangle in place. Good luck!

It just takes time. You would have to know facial structure to be able to get a perfect looking face. First i would start off my randomizing until you get a face that fits closely to your desires.

I've notices that a lot of the sliders look perfect if you keep them in the middle. Only when adjusting size of your eyes and features that i would slide it to the left.

Then picking eyebrows and nose i would say is pretty crucial.

Best suggestion would be to take a picture of someone online and try to replicate it.

I posted a picture of three of my humans a while ago (my Breton isn't there). The last one is the Imperial:

      Q3J7jdk.jpg

Basically, I went all the way for an angular face, gave her a little frown, a square jawline and high cheek bones. I wanted her to have a severe look, being a Priestess and all (see the contrast with my Nord right next to her, who is supposed to look younger and more relaxed). Her hair style is that one that has a few curls on the back. I regret her eyebrows, I don't like such thin ones, but I don't hate them enough to buy an appearance change token (those are kinda pricey, come on!).

I don't know if you will find her pretty, but I do. Although I think my Redguard is the prettiest of my human characters.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

      Meet my characters:
      Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

My tank, I wanted her beautiful but strong she is a tank
She is between angular and soft but middlish but not bottom line towards the centre but below it.
She not the tallest or the shortest and athletic but not super thin
I still wanted the imperial and tankyness in there not slight. But still beautiful.
So soft with a touch of angular but a dash of heroic too boot.
Old pic though can't get better as she's one of those vamp tanks now (not so pretty.)

There is no trick to making attractive faces. You just fiddle with the looks until YOU find them attractive enough to be your visage in the game. Sometimes that takes a while, depending on how you imagine your character to be - beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all.

At least these days, you can spend crowns to adjust things if you after hours in chargen find out what looked all right there may have a previously unwitnessed suboptimal feature when seen in game... ;)

      Hey OP

As someone who has been making character models in games for nearly 20 years now I can only give you this advise. Try and start from the most neutral thing the artist made. That's what I do with these systems anyway. Put every slider everywhere in the middle. What I'm trying to look for is the initial model they made, the one they spent the most time, effort and love on. Everything else is just an amount of change from that source mesh.

So in this case I would stick the triangle into the centre. I would also do a google image search for "human facial proportion". You will want a picture that will be, invariably hand drawn, will be of the face from the front and have lots of lines on it. This shows how parts of the face line up together in an average face. You can use this to check you haven't made a mistake when messing around with your sliders.

In the case of your Imperial I would turn OFF the hair and any adornments and choose the eyebrows texture. The former to give u a clear view of things and the latter because the relationship of the eyebrow to the eye is important to attractiveness and the textures they use jump up and down on the face. Too much space or too little will throw things off and you will have a face that feels off without you realising why. So use the uppy downy eyebrow slider to return to a natural amount of space.

Once you've done that I would go back to the triangle and start pulling it around and then start read adjust thing things again. Sounds a bit arse about face, but they are doing some stuff with these bits that fight against each other so you will need to adjust it twice. Or not. Just go straight to the triangle moving phase if you want, but I think its best to move from a correct neutral pose. Up to you though.

Other than that just gently and carefully play with the sliders while checking the picture I mentioned earlier. If you change the size of the eyes, you'll need to move them out as well as their inside edge has a relationship with the outside edge of the nostril. Height wise the same applies to the ears as well. Get the eye area right and you should be set though.

That's probably less helpful than I wanted. But hopefully helps a little.

      Cheers

Sorry to say but the only way to get what you want (because beauty is subjective) is to spend a lot of time testing and testing. Some of my characters took more than two months to make them (I hate you 24-hour waiting time). The only advice I would give you is that you are not afraid to move the creation bars to extremes, sometimes you will be surprised by the result. Luck ;)

I did it a long time ago and just for fun, the only thing I kept was this image that I went to the forum a long time ago, but I think in the shape of the face I put the indicator in the lower right corner and then I moved it only to the left until the facial features change two or three times (i do not remember well). Sorry I can not be of more help :(

Yes indeed, I have a perfect solution. If you have one, place the cat mask on; problem solved and so much more attractive!

All kidding aside (or am I?), with the rather limited range of modeling ; hair colors and facial structure on many races, it becomes real difficult to achieve a completely satisfying look.

I was trying to make a female look as close to Morticia Addams as possible, especially for the Halloween event. I was relegated to choosing a Breton, since that race at least has something close to long, straight black hair.

However, I could not get the face elongated enough nor the lips the correct shade. She is not as lovely as any of my Khajiits (I mean come on now, how can any race hold a candle to their natural catsmere fur coat look); but she is lovely in her own way.
