F Maelstrom. I'm never goin there again

Just f it. Spent 4 hours today trying to pass the 7 round argonian ***. I even ran an Ethernet cable across my house. I can't spend any more time in there. It's not fun. It actually makes me not want to play the game.

Fruit nut. I hate you. Zenimax I hate you. Locking the best stuff behind this poo show is just disrespectful. I go bed now. Cry myself to sleep.

I nearly had my flawless today but that damn 7th round got me. Mushroom spawned underneath the shield.

I learned after trying for so long it is best to stop and try again the next day.

If you get past that round then round 8 is a cake walk and you will only be left with learning round 9 mechanics.
I imagine there will be alot of people frustrated with vma for the next 2 weeks.

At least the majority of the game doesnt require you to equip a Maelstrom weapon, especially the story DLC which in my opinion is the most important parts of ESO in the end game. I highly doubt youll hate Vvardenfell when it releases because you dont have any Maelstrom items.

Also, welcome to the wont-touch-maelstrom-with-a-twenty-foot-poll club. Theres cookies and pizza by the door.

I like vMA for the challenge but hate the award RNG, when you finally do complete it and get handed a crappy award for going to all that trouble then thats where it loses it for me.

Hard content is great but make the prize for getting through it rewarding especially for the first play through.

vMA is hard and, because of the mechanics, has weathered the power creep remarkably well. It is true that the trash mob rounds are much easier now since they were essentially order of kill filler anyway that was way too responsive to spawn location memorization (and I am all for them being easier.) However, the boss mechanics are still fatal if ignored, often spawn at boss health numbers making them immune to breaking by high dps, and in many cases hard. vMA still gives many good players I know fits on many of the rounds and yea, the 7th is generally considered the most difficult due to both the really hard hitting adds, the heal debuff, and a lot of rng that can conspire on you in there.

Keep your stick on the ice man, it can be done with practice. Also, watch many videos, especially Deltia's. Very helpful. I apologize in advance for the loot drop luck you will probably have on your first complete but a complete is something to be proud of regardless and the title does still buy some respect. I for one don't expect any player to wet the bed who has it.

If it's that much of a struggle keep them both alive until one follows you into the pool. You'll never get a mushroom spawn there. You're most likely rushing it and killing them on top of a mushroom. Be patient and plan it out.

it is hard content, it is supposes to be, "end game content", only the best players can beat it and that is good so

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Even the very best players who clear his content repeateadly (with exceptions) hate this content.

Two of my guilds have players locked in there chasing gear and even those who beat it finish frustrated annoyed and generally less fun to have in guild chat then. He usually are.

If you guaranteed me everything I could ever want in one clear I wouldn't go there.

It for my money and in only my opinion may be the worst content in the game.

Breezed through VMA earlier, thought to myself "wow I've gotten a lot better at this game" (have only played for a month total and not been on May) then realized I had group dungeon set to Normal.
Set it to Veteran, couldn't get passed the final round of first level. After a good hour of dying i rage quit and went back to farming

I can feel the pain and actually this arena is designed worst!

Stage 7 is one of the easier stages for me. I dont often die there. Stage 5 is pretty annoying thougg.

Indeed, it's uniquely aggravating. They really shouldn't be hating such gear behind a solo instance. Folks play MMO so they don't have to play alone.

It would be cool if they made it a two man arena though.

I hate Maelstrom because all my toons are PvP builds and I really don't want to completely rebuild just to do one part of the game. And aside from that I don't have the patience for Maelstrom.

It's a shame the best weapons in the game are not also gifted through PvP achievements. Instead I'm rewarded with a mail box full of the same few useless sets that nobody wants to buy.

I actually like stage 7. I find it quite fun to manage the adds, boss, plants and those pesky plant summoners.

This is why I have never done vMA and probably never will. Even just going through non-vet it's long, and it's nothing but a long string of fights. Sure, some of them are interesting fights...but after about the third or forth one in a row I was bored and wanted to do something else. I honestly have trouble wrapping my head around the idea that people have done vet mode dozens of times just for a particular piece of gear. I doubt I could ever get enough enjoyment out of a piece of equipment to justify that kind of time sunk into getting it.

People generally don't hate the content, people hate the RNG behind the loot. The hate is just more prominent in this particular instance because it is harder to complete than most other things in the game.

People who genuinely hate this content for what it is and think it is badly designed fall into 2 branches:

- People who hate solo content;
- People who need a bucket of L2P

Real PvP builds are very good for learning msa, because they offer high regen, self heals and balanced dps.
You should be fine, except if you run one of these cancer proc builds without sustain or survivability, aka a useless gear choice.

Stage 7 is a pain, even on normal. 43k damage just from Argonian behemoths battleroar + an additional 10k from everything else that's going on? Who the !"%&//½!½! came up with that?

I did get 9 CP out of it, so I should probably not complain too much...
