i had to read the players comment to see what the fuss was about, and im sorry but i agree with the O/P.

and before anyone trys to bash me about being insensitive, then consider this.

my aunty lost her son, my cousin, in afghan 9 yrs ago fighting for his country, 5 years later she couldnt cope any longer, and ended her own life, leaving behind 2 other children, all grown up with there own lives, but still her children none the less.

at the time there was nothing but anger and disgust at what she did, doesnt mean we dont miss her, and we werent upset, of course we were but it was a cowardly act and cowardly way out.

she did the deed by saying nothing to no one, no one had a clue, people who want to commit suicide and mean it, dont say a word, they just do it, people who let it be known, want to be stopped, a cry for help if you like.

so from experience, the o/p is correct in his comment he made.

    in respect of the guildmaster..

who made you god? who gives you the divine right to demand an apology? if you get that offended, i take it you dont go outside or watch tv in the case the material you hear or see offends you? as someone else said previous, offence is taken its never given. Time to grow up mate.

I think the problem here is that the OP confuses his right to have an opinion with a duty to express it at the most inappropriate times as well as some non-existent right to express it without consequence (apparently a wide spread problem all over the internet).

Well he got consequences and is now having a bit of a cry about it - I would hope maybe a lesson had been learned but it appears not.

Mind you give the number of other tasteless fools that chimed in on that thread he may not be alone. Quite a few people who seemed to think that hiding behind an online identity and calling someone in pain a coward was not possibly one of the most cowardly thing anyone can do as well as being a deliberate and cruel attempt to add more pain should that person then have read that thread.

If they'd have been in my guild I may done the same but I would not have bothered requesting the apology.

This is a global game an views vary on suicide & death in general depending on culture, religion and individual experience - is it really so hard to just think for 5 seconds and say to yourself "maybe I disagree here but maybe now is not the best time to troll a thread".?

Straight-forwardness and sensitive nature are on opposite sides of the personality table. None of them decides whether a person is good or bad. Freedom of speech and expression is increasingly turning out to be hypocritical in nature, where people pretend to be liberal but hate it when someone expresses an opinion which they dislike, which is something I realized the hard way. I am not even twenty five but I have been disowned by my family but for pretty much expressing the same opinion as OP in a similar case in my (former) family. No matter how bad the situations is, if you do something, you are the only one responsible for that. And that includes suicide. Speaking the harsh truth is a personality trait and there is nothing wrong in that. As for OP, you shouldn't even be bothered by the fact that you were kicked. Why bother staying in a guild where you are not wanted.

WTF did I just read, bruh? You, OP, or anyone has the right to feel however they want to feel. And express it however they feel like. It doesn't matter if: You, me, Raheem and Tyrone down the street, etc. don't like it. N'ah. It's their opinion. And I'm not saying there won't be consequences for voicing said opinions, but still. Whether or not the consequences matter to the person stating their opinion is a topic for another time, but still. People can say what they want to say. And if it breaks a law or rule of something, then so be it. Let consequences have at it. But, the key point remains that at the end of the day — people can voice their opinion(s) whenever they feel like it. It's their right to.

Lol. "Tasteless fools". Bruh, are you serious? For voicing how they feel about a topic (regardless of how serious the topic may be) on the Internet??? What? :D You should come chill with me in New York, bruh. And after observing such a diverse and opinionated population of all classes of people, see if your statement is worth it's weight of gold.

This thread has done nothing but create more bad blood between a lot of people for a few different reasons. This wasn't the intention of my choice. This topic has also once again brought suicide into the spot light, this isn't the place to discuss these things, and if someone reading has been adversely affected I can only apologise.
@Zolexi See here is the thing, someone in your guild probably laughed at the joke, and then probably someone like yourself hated the joke

The thing with running a guild, you should only enforce rules in game, if people are making suicide jokes in guild that can be seen as bad taste as it is going to directly affect your guild in game, and then you proceed to silence them or something in the guild or if the worst happens, remove them.

I guess this is something to learn, because you removed him based on something he said on the forums, the forums don't make up population you see in game, and another thing, I still don't even know what guild this guy is in or what guild you run. Lesson learnt I guess, if anything I would give this guy a warning, let him back in the guild, keep all dark jokes out of game back do whatever you want, if he keeps doing it on the forums ZOS will remove his posting rights anyway.

Is this the post that everyone is making a fuss over? https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/3344799/#Comment_3344799

To be honest I thought it was going to be far harsh and severe. I completely disagree with e1team on the suicide topic, but I'm not going to send him to the flaming torch death over it.

What e1team did was to show his complete and utter ignorance about the truth of mental illness, and what people have to deal with on a regular basic. The people who liked his post also showed their ignorance, but unfortunately we will never get to see who liked his post due to the anonymity.

e1team, Let me give you some education about the reality of suicide. This is coming from personal experience and someone who suffers from mental illness. We do not choose to be this emotional. Something happen in our brains to cause us to have strong emotional feelings. It could be a chemical imbalance or something else. I've tried every medication on the market to try to help me with my depression, but it only made it worst, and not better. I realize a few years ago that my body started rejecting an anti anxiety medication (Xanax/Ativan - benzodiazepines). This drug was once my friend now my arch enemy. This drug caused me to have strong suicidal feelings. All I could think of is how to kill myself. I've spent close to 3 days curled up into a fetal position on my floor fighting the impulsiveness of death and self destruction. I do not consider myself to be weak or stupid. I was drove to become suicidal due to a severe allergic reaction caused by the drug. This is common issue with anti depression drugs as well. Please look at the blackbox warning on an anti depression drug and you'll clearly see that sometimes it can cause someone to become suicidal. If you don't mind please read this article that the FDA released to the public.

    http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/InformationbyDrugClass/ucm096273.htm

also please read this article http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/child-and-adolescent-mental-health/antidepressant-medications-for-children-and-adolescents-information-for-parents-and-caregivers.shtml

Please read this popular story about woman who choose to commit suicide to avoid going through a painful process of having terminal brain cancer.
    http://www.lifenews.com/2014/11/02/brittany-maynard-the-29-year-old-with-brain-cancer-has-reportedly-killed-herself/

As for the concern OP that wanted to bring ZoS attention about a suicidal player. We don't know what was going on with the player. Maybe he is also experiencing a drug effect? Maybe hes experiencing tragedy in his life like a loss of a love one? Who knows. Suicide is not weak. Please educate yourself on the issue.

How hard is it to write, "I'm sorry that was insensitive"?

Offense is never givem, it is only taken. Nobody should be told to apologize for offending another.

If that were true then "offensive" wouldn't be a word.

Yes it would, it is used by the offended to try amd label others are wrong when the error is really themselves. Then again, it is a philosophical statement, not a definition. There is no such thing as a universally offensive word or statement. Offense is subjective.

They weren't asking for you to go back on your opinion, even though -IMHO- it would have been nice if you did so. They were asking for you to realize how insensitive it was to put it in a public comment. You can sleep like a baby because you think you have nothing to regret, you say that you won't apologize for the comment itself because it's your own opinion and no one can take that from you.
The thing is, not every time we have our own opinion on something and we can express it it means we should do so. You could have thought what you wrote and kept it to yourself instead of sharing it. None of this would have happened. In the future, always think of the consequences of what you might say.

So, your to big a person to not apologize for what your not sorry for and just a small enough person to publicly post your not public apology.

I would say you must be swell kid but your probbably actually an adult.

Kudos to your ex guild mates for putting consequences to Internet behavior.

Now why you hating on OP for? Lol. Why you trying to chump him for? He just had his former guild try to play him, and now you're taking shots at him? N'ah bruh. Hop off OP's case. All that isn't even needed. Man got kicked out of an in-game guild over HIS opinion, that he voiced on the forums. And the GM was cocky enough to ask of a public apology. And you're coming at OP like that...? Is you serious, bruh? N'ah. Hop out your feelings, and understand that he has every right to make this thread AND voice his opinions. How that man feels, is how he feels. Not me, you, or anyone else. Stop being salty that OP was strong enough to expose those lames who tried to clown him, and won't buckle.

If you don't mind please read this article that the FDA released to the public.

also please read this article http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/child-and-adolescent-mental-health/antidepressant-medications-for-children-and-adolescents-information-for-parents-and-caregivers.shtml

Please read this popular story about woman who choose to commit suicide to avoid going through a painful process of having terminal brain cancer.

The big question is: How it all ended? You are here after all. It says a lot about you...

And yes sometimes its mental state, and sometimes external factor. In my case I was beaten by the whole class every day for four years, starting from fifth grade. Just because I was not country native. Ooh... I had suicidal thoughts, no doubt about that. But I am here. I chose life. I won.

It sounds like you're guild is Tumblr. You've triggered them and your opinion doesn't matter.

I am not hating on the OP.

He made a post. The post offeneded his guild master who has posted here. The guild master asked for a public apology. The OP wouldn't make an apology but instead made a very public non-apology.

All within his rights and abilities to do so but the facts are the facts and he couldn't just let it go and ride off to another guild with a story to tell nope, that was to easy back to the Internet forums to let everyone who cares to read this thread; this is me not apologizing.

The OP has the right to do and say everything he did.

The guild master has the right to kick the OP and ask for an apology.

The OP had the right to post about his non-apology.

And everyone in here has the right to banter back and forth about it.

But if your claiming the OP took the higher road here to be the better man your way off the mark.

    Small behavior is small behavior.

No one made him make a joke in good or bad taste, no one made him be offeneded someone asked for apology, no one made home post his non-apology. He made every single one of those choices himself.

    EDIT;

For the record; it is not weekness to realize that even without you can seriously offend or hurt someone but the inability to account for that a pounce soly upon the grounds of our freedoms and his own and your own righteousness is not strength.

Neither the OP the Guildmaster stand squarely with both feet upon the moral high ground but when you read theis thread you see one man willing act like a man and another willing to act like something else entirely.

This just proves how much more insensitive your comment was. You had suicidal thoughts, so you know it's something not to take lightly. You won, it's true, and I'm very glad you did. But if someone loses that battle rest assured it's not because of weakness or cowardice. Instead, I suggest you do a little research on minor and major depression. Maybe read something on other psychological disorders too. It may give you more insight and maybe it can change your view as well.
