I'm glad they are non unique and can be traded among characters! But I play on console - no happy red x to mark the map for me.

Probably what this means is I'm going to stack all the surveys on an alt until there is absolutely no more room - then spend a weekend running down surveys all across Tamriel using Google/YouTube.

This kind of remembers me of the Dark Deal changes, where Wrobel said that he wants it to feel awesome if you manage to use Dark Deal in combat. Do you want it to feel awesome if we find a survey location where we have never been before?

Does not sound fun to me. Sounds really lame.

maybe the first time you find a location it would be fun - having like successfully used google. :-)

With stacking it really means waiting to go to a given site until you have enough to make the trip worthwhile - like maybe 4-5. other than that i dont see much of a change to the way i play.

main diff will be not having tons of "boxes" with surveys in them i cant see so this will be nicer in that regard.

So instead of lotsa "unidentified boxes" holding surveys, i will have stacks of surveys and when i get any one at 5 i go to the zone or if another daily quest takes me to the zone then i grab them.

    Ok lets do some math:
Say you get 100 blacksmithing surveys. What are the chances that you get 5 identical ones?
    Result: about 4%.
Instead of reward boxes with double surveys you will now have different surveys blocking your inventory. The chances are pretty high that your inventory is full before you even get 2 identical surveys if you do all crafting dailies.

Uhhhhh... right now i have plenty of boxes of surveys in my inventory. Many wrothgar. Have to click to pek to see which ones.
I will be much happier with maybe 20ish slots devoted to surveys, surveys stscks I CAN BANK and swsp between characters, unlike those stupid crates.

As for your math, how many different surveys do you assume? If i assume 3 survey types per zone inc crag, cold and 3 dlc thats 60 and if the odds are 59 in 60 to not get a given survey, i dont get 96% odds for 96 fails to get just wrothgar#3 specifically.

I assumed 48 unique surveys per profession. 3 per zone, 3x5 alliance zones plus wrothgar. Forgot about craglorn. Not sure if there are survey locations in coldharbour, hews bane and the Gold Coast. Having more zones only makes the odds worse.
The math was done to find one special survey 5 times out of 100 boxes and not any survey 5 times. For any survey the chance is much higher (1-0.96^48=86%, assuming 48 unique surveys). On average you will start getting duplicates after 51-60 surveys.

    Thats what i thought.

But once i start seeing the survey dist, i will decide best way to manage it.
But right now the frustrating unique so boxes stack is the most time consuming part.
Being able to stack and bank is great. I forsee dumpingbsurveys to bank and then grabbing them when an appropriate char is nearby. Esp true for alchemy where mostly theblevel is less imp so even non-max alch can likely harvest.

I do like the latest changes in the PTS but like others I don't feel this is enough.
I'd rather they just be in one zone like before and not all over the place, I would be happy if they could be stored in the crafting bag AS WELL as the bank so they don't take up valuable space as you have to be mad to do the surveys one at a time, It's much better to do a load at once but to build up enough of the same ones from different zones will mean a lot of different surveys taking up loads of space.
