Thank you for the experience! I know people hate it for the **** loot but I had a blast completing it(and probably will hate it after multiple times). Yes I hated it. Yes I felt devestated when the boss was at 2% and still died, but the feeling when the boss dies and the message shows that you completed it. I will not forget that for a long time!

Thank for having something hard and unforgiving as maelstrom!

Unlike everyone here, I would like to see Maelstrom nerfed.

It's a single player DPS race, designed like it, and the weapons are required for DPS optimization. That ain' right.

DPS must PVP until rank six for a decent heal and complete a DPS race to maximize DPS potential. This game, man. If I played DPS I'd likely have left a long time ago.

My friend did vMA as tank. So its not dps race

I won't argue that a monster DPS will make things much easier for you down the line, once you know the ropes and can cut loose a little-- I recently had my easiest run yet after taking a few months off from it, finishing off an old run still in progress, and getting a sharpened inferno staff-- but maximizing DPS is a distant concern while you're still learning the arena.

Those first few runs, you figure out what gets you killed. You stay alert, you play cautiously, and you figure out the little things that keep messing you up. You figure out the best time to use sigils. You don't just launch into a furious burn and go ham, because you don't have the muscle memory for it yet. Until you're damn familiar with the mechanics, you can't afford to split your attention in the fashion required to maximize DPS; you'll die mid-rotation because you're not paying attention to a ground effect or a telegraphed heavy attack.

VMA is the most clever, finest crafted piece of PvE content in the game. The learning curve is substantial, but it's also sensible. Unlike most other pieces of content, you can't just ignore the mechanics once your DPS is high enough. In that regard, it's so much less of a DPS race than most dungeons. There are even rounds where too quick of a burn could ruin your life. So if you're summarizing it as a DPS race, I doubt you've spent much time trying to learn the arena. It's much more complex than a DPS race.

Congrats on beating it!

I've only played through the first few levels before i get annoyed and stop... memorizing the mechanics and playing the "run for your life" game isn't fun to me.
As much as i would love to get some mal weapons, it just does not seem worth the crazy time dump/bank destroyer you have to invest.

I do enjoy the solo content... but not a dungeon style like this. the updated DSA will be more interesting.... too bad the weapons won't be that great from there I REALLY hope they revamp a few of those pieces eventually.

I was in favor of the token system (obviously)... gain so many "tokens" from each stage (increasing token numbers as you progress) and eventually get enough to turn them in for a chance at a weapon kinda like the undaunted chests. Just my opinion anyway. I just never have it in me to put in multiple hours in one sitting to go from stage 1 to stage 9.

VMA is for sure a learning experience. That first clear takes a long time. That second clear takes about half the time as the first. By the 5th or 6th time, it's now on your farm list and becomes ridiculously easy.

Keep your hopes up buddy I started the run weeks ago(accidentely but thats a different story). I went through stage 1-4 fighting and dying alot but still i got there round by round and stage by stage.
Then my hell started Stage 5, the ice stage. I kept dying and dying even though my dps was pretty high. It got to the point where I was done with it. I left it, didnt touch it for a few weeks and started earlier this week again. I found my way to beat it and then I was back to clearing round by round and stage by stage. I got to the last stage "fairly" easy (of course I died alot but I learned from my mistakes. I acknowledged that I made mistakes and it killed me)
Then it was puzzling to find a way to beat the boss that worked out for me. It took me 3 days to find a tactic that gave me consistent results (getting up and at least coming down again) until I finally killed him.

TLDR; dont give up hope. Try to find your mistakes and dont make them again and if you are sick an tired of it just leave it for while(make sure you grab the quest at the start it will save your progress through the stages)

Its a huge DPS race. Extremely hard towards the end. The incoming damage is just way too high. Most player will never get a chance to beat it. You also need a shield stacking toon as MA doesnt favor all classes. Or you can just burn if your a top player who doesnt need much shielding.
