just to let you all know, zenimax did a cradle of shadows showcase stream on thursday/friday last week, and i asked gina in the chat and she confirmed that the plan is for this event to happen each year.

    Good to know!

@The_Linderman While you do have a point this is a video game and we just providing feedback for the ZOS team to consider as they plan and test these events before they finally go live when the time comes with hopes of less bugs and horrible things going wrong. Limited time event are by nature Limited Time so all feedback is important to the ZOS team.

I hear ya, but I mean, on the other hand limited time events can be a fun thing too. It throws some variety over the course of a year to keep it from being too stale at times. Tho, I can understand achievements related to it being unattainable for a year afterwards and I would completely be upset if it was during a time I couldn't get on, but even if I couldn't get on for a limited event here or there, the idea is still a fun one.

I think that the best way that they could do it is to leave the possibility of dropping the achievement-related items as long as you keep using the collectible associated with the festival. Just remove the 100% experience bonus from it.

That way, people can complete the achievement at their own pace but not have a permanent 100% experience bonus.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

when is this "witches festival" going to happen or did it already happened?

it would be nice if they remember that there are a few players out of U.S. that don't know their holidays. at least it would be nice to have a date associated to it or an option to delete those achievements if the holiday already happened. there's no point on keeping a list of achievements that no longer are possible to complete.

It will probably begin around October 13th, which is the day of the Witches Festival in Tamriel.
    Here's the calendar.

The Elder Scrolls online is the most diverse franchise out there. Everything from races to timelines are inspired by real world cultures. I'm sure everyone feel represented with an aspect of the game (I'm Brazilian so I feel represented with Argonians and their South American-ish culture). With its robust lore friendly holidays (which were also based on real life holidays), we have the potential for amazing dynamic events all year around. Technically speaking the holidays will be like real life ones and there is no need to feel offended and/or excluded that your culture isn't represented, first because what you feel doesn't matter and second because everyone is pretty much represented in the game anyways. Just wait for your designated holiday.

I'm a New Zealander and I feel under-represented by the lack of sheep in this game.

On to more on topic matters:

I still hate temp content, time limited content...I left one game because of it....

Who wants to wait 12 months to complete achievements or burn for 7 days...

Nobody said being a completionist was easy. The fact is that there will be another opportunity to get the achievements (next year) and if they add more time-limited annual content then there will be plenty of such achievements that you would be handily busy throughout the whole year.
The only reason I would have an issue with this is if the event was a one-off and so if you weren't there, you would never have the chance to earn the achievements.
    Another day, another deathtrap.

As an achievement hunter I totally understand where you're coming from, as I get super anxious about nonrepeatable time-sensitive events as well. This will be the first one in ESO (that I know of). With that said, I'm still all for it so long as there's a decent stretch of time to try to complete it. Two weeks is ideal, one week is still probably totally doable.

These events are coming back each year as the time approaches. Rich Lambert said so at the ESO-Tavern.

Are acheivements really that important? Granted, I understand the drive some have to get acheivements and that is great, but is it a reason to get upset or leave a game as OP suggests was the reason he left GW2?

Achievements are semi-meaningful in gw2. There is no reason to get upset about achievements in ESO.
