Problems joining group if name or race changed

Changed name and race on toon - now unable to invite or join a group,

Tried it on an unchanged toon and no problem

First, suggest creating a bug report ticket.

Second, suggest providing details on how the invite was being done. There are multiple ways someone can invite another to a group and this info helps Zos figure out what's going on.

Tried numerous ways,

right click from friends list, etc.. still same "Failed to Join Group"

Also if invited by friend, you think you are in a group but friend doesn't also now impossible to leave group unless friend logs out!

I had this same issue today and I did not change any race or name. At one point I was stuck in a group and unable to leave, even though for the other group members it appeared as though I was no longer in the group.

Then later on a different character, we had an issue where I could not invite or accept invite to group even after reloadui and restarting the client. Kept getting the same error "Failed to Join Group"

Did not change race or name for either of these two characters that experienced the issue.

I have had this issue before. Or something similar. Where i could not invite from friends list or accept invites. But i could invite from the guild list. Was odd.

I dont remember relogging fixing it. And i had it happen on and off for a while. So much so that now i always invite from the guild page and never use the friends list anymore.

When in a Hughes group like this travel to another zone. There has been a bug from 2 years were players would end up unable to leave group. Traveling t a different zone cleared it up.

Did you send in a bug report? That will give them a bit more info to work on.

I had the issue yesterday where I invited two players into a group, they saw the group and I didn't. They could chat in group and I could read it, but I couldn't type. They left the group and I can't remember if just the reloadui fixed it or if I had to zone as well.

And no, I have not changed name, race or anything else.

Have this issue... had my @name changed a few months ago. Tried to invite someone to a group today, message on the screen said he accepted and then immediately left. Didn't show me in a group though partner said it showed me in our group. Was unable to share quests.

Was invited to group on another character, same as above.

Quality out sourced programming at work here guys. Joined grp zoned said I left grp, but friend said I was still in the grp. Then I couldn't join a grp the rest of the night.

Same thing happened to me this morning setting up a group in the Lost City public dungeon. Invited someone to a group, they joined and saw that they were in a group, to me it looked like there was no group active. I've not yet done any race, name or appearance changes.

Its just on one of my characters (the one with the name and race change, so is nothing to do with my @ name

People seem to have grouping problems all over, unrelated to name or race. I've helped people today to get groups going because some characters seem to be unable to create groups. Then I have myself been unable to hand them crown, but leaving group and a relog of all remaining group members seems to fix it. >.<

tried that, a bunch of my friends tried invites, etc. Every other of my toons has no problem except for the one with a name and race change

I continue to have difficulties grouping on only one of my characters as well, my DK DSP toon. He cannot invite others into a group, when grouped with others, he can not be assigned lead. This makes it difficult as I often lead raids for my guild. I've had these problems in the weeks leading up to the patch. I've filled a few bug reports, but so far no resolution.

This is scary. I'll hold off on race/name change until this is sorted out. Needs fix ASAP, like game breaking ASAP.

Had more trouble with this last night, still with no race / name / appearance changes on my part. Tried to form a PUG for the silver pledge, group finder was not being helpful so I started calling out in zone. Found a DPS and tried to add him, just straight up did not work at all. We tried going to Wrothgar (he said he'd had luck when inviting people from there), tried adding him to my friends list, tried meeting in person and grouping through the little interact wheel, nada. Ended up just walking away frustrated, no undaunted xp for me

Strangely enough I had just finished running one of the new dungeons with some guild mates and we had no trouble at all forming the group for that. So it seems quite hit and miss, or maybe being in a guild together changes something. Plan on testing some more tonight.

No - But it was an old name i used from another toon (basically swapping names)

I have this but I havn;'t changed anything... I'm in the group. sometimes see groupchat but cant chat back or join a group... relog is the only fix

This happened to me last night without having done a name change. I was in a group in Cyro, left the group, left Cyro and then was unable to join a group when trying to group for a pledge in Stormhaven. /logout and then log back in fixed it. Annoying though.

I play everyday with the same 3 friends - we've all played since launch everyday with no problems since the games release


yesterday we could not play together because after the hotfix we were unable to group - unable to group finder - unable to do anything

i changed my race - the other 3 did not

the other 3 could not invite each other nor me

we tried from friends list, guild list, @name, character name and group finder

it was as though the group system was shut down entirely for the day
