Can someone tell me why Master's Weapons should be on par with Maelstrom Weapons?

I don't have an opinion either way yet on buffing the Master's Weapons. Just trying to get an understanding of why they should be best in game.

Neither Master nor Maelstrom are "best" in the game. They are supposed to be very strong to reflect the difficulty of obtaining them, but their strength obviously depends entirely on your build.

Maelstrom weapons (besides the Sword/Mace/Shield) are strong. I wouldn't change a thing about them except for that Rampaging Slash enchant. Arguments can be made for other weapons, but it is not a big deal.

Master weapons are supposed to be no different in power than Maelstrom weapons. They are the unique ability-altering weapons for the entire first tier of weapons skills (Maelstrom weapons buff second tier weapon skills). Problem is, they were much stronger in the past. The upgrade to CP160 didn't help most of them nearly enough and need to be buffed to be viable on any build that uses them. The buff needs to target the values listed in the tooltips, not the enchants themselves. The values need some buffs!

Remember we have an enchantment that increases your Weapon/Spell damage. These weapons are very tough to loot with good traits so their enchants at least have to be more valuable than a craftable enchant.

Maelstrom and Master weapons also do not belong to any sets, so they really need to be strong to reward people for getting these difficult to obtain weapons and for fighting RNG for good traits!

I'd like a Master Shield that buffs Defensive Posture. Maybe reduce block cost by 20% for 15 seconds after its activated, or restore stamina when it blocks a spell.

Master weapons buffs only 1st skill in each skill line same like maelstorms buffs 2nd. To have buff to 3rd skills You will need to wait on some next content with new weapons.

According to fact master weapons improve 1st skills in weapon skill lines there is not much to do with buff that enchants gives due to fact in many cases this are not so strong skills itself if we compare them to skills that maelstorm weapons buff. IMO master weapons enchant could give weapon skill bonus + both stats bonus but in smaller number for example stamina weapons 600 stamina+129 wep dmg, destro staffs 600 magicka+129 spell dmg, resto staff 600 magcika+129 magicka recovery and 1h sword 700hp+129 stam recovery.

You know what would be great?

Bonuses on DW, 2H, SW/sh that would make them attractive to magicka classes. For example: bonus mana, spell dmg, penetration, or what not.
