I know how the 3 stats work  and I still argue that we use them in PvE too  plus, for completionists like myself, we just NEED them hehe

In PvE you have shrines and you can port. In PvP I have to ride in many occasions. It is good to have it but it is way more important for PvP unless you want to lose your time in riding.
    Because I can!

180 lessons, 20 hours pr lesson, if you time it perfectly.. 3600 hours.. Please let us share Riding Skills between characters.. Leveling up a new toon's riding is a nightmare

I don't like this idea, but that's my opinion.

...you could just park the toons you're not using at a stable master and log in each one and train them. I have done this with all of my toons - they all have speed maxed and carrying capacity maxed...but I am still working on stamina. Granted I haven't spent any money on the crown store boosts and I'm about 70 days in. Yes, it a little bit of pain to park my toons at the end of my adventuring at a stable master, but I'm used to it now.

Just a thought to lessen your pain.

Yes it could work, and I do this with the toons that I have and use atm.. The trouble hits when you create an entirely new one, and have to start from day 1

Well I know that you have teleports too, even though they are a little more scarce and hard to use  But this post is from a PvE perspective entirely, as I don't like this type of PvP.. That being said, I use it a lot for doing those PvE quests, books and skyshards all over the Cyrodill map

I don't know what is worse training a new horse or collecting all those books and skyshards again.

    1) horse.
    2) books
    3) skyshards

horse requires incredible time investment and poor return on investment. books are the only way to earn MG ranks, skyshards are not the only way to earn skill points

I wish they had made it similar to trait research an exponential
60 points @ 20 hours = 1200 hours fine, if it was points=X and time = Y and they used an equation like Y=X^0.882376

it would still take 1200 hours to reach a full 60. but you could also get the first 7 in a day. and in a week you could get your first 20. That to me is a reasonable investment/return. and gives you enough of a boost to be manageable/bearable. and also lets you decide what you want to invest in more proactively.

but yeah it probably makes money even though it is stupidly overpriced

I just came back the the game after a two-year hiatus. You know how mount training worked before that?

You trained the mount. So if you wanted to change your mount, all your training of the previous one? Poof. Gone.

I'm more than glad to have the current system. Just means I have more reason to take my time with each of my characters. :)

Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"

If I was a new player I would probably agree with you. As a veteran player that has 4 characters with all 3 riding skills maxed out I don't agree. I put in my time and or $ to get them fully leveled. What makes you this special little snow flake and get this deal?

Why would it hurt you to let other people have an easier time than you did? Yes, I could have maxed them all out by now, but I spent my time on other things.. Why does the thought of other people having an easy time make you bitter? It's evolution, simple as that  Our parents, and theirs, made living easier for us.. Not bitter. Just looking for fair value for my time, $ and effort. Easier and lazy are 2 different things. I did the time and reap the benefits because I earned them by investing my resources.

Asking for the quik and easy is just lazy IMHO.

I agree with you. It seems like some people want everything spoon fed to them without lifting a finger of effort to obtain it. Part of the fun of the game should be the challenge in obtaining it. If training (or anything) were universal to all characters, I want all my titles duplicated to all my characters - e.g., Monster Hunter title. What a pain to get...all that grinding. Do I want to do all over again on my alts? Not really...but will I? Yes...because if I want it, I know I have to put forth the effort to get it!

Eh, that's fair if you feel that way. I''m a "happy with how it is" sort of person in general, so it's easier for me to look on the bright side of these things. XD

Personally, I'd prefer the dev's attention be turned toward other, more important things, since this isn't even a blip on my radar (whereas something like the "NPC not looking at you" glitch drives me nuts while a lot of players don't care about it). But everyone has their own little pet issues where they wonder "if only..."

It makes zero sense that you have to wait 20 hours every time you upgrade.

Recently I deleted a character with maxed training for a new character. That's ONE-HUNDRED AND EIGHTY DAYS worth of logging in.

LOL! It's a good suggestion, but most of my poor horses would be level 5-ish because I never use them outside of PvP. The minute I get on a horse, I usually see a resource I want to gather, so I don't bother.

But I disagree that riding skill should be account wide. Pick the skill you want the most and start with that. The others are just added bonuses anyway.

Alright... so hypothetically speaking... if ZOS did make horse training account wide... would I get all that wasted gold back on my 3 alt characters that have maxed (60/60/60) horses? Or would it just be gone? 45K per character... 135K in total... and growing as I make new alts. And that's just me... what about the people who paid crowns to upgrade their alts? Would they get a crown refund?

    Do you think that's fair?

You have a better chance of winning the lottery than ZOS making Riding skills account wide. I would bet a fair amount of gold that riding lessons are one of their biggest money makers. I know I cant make a new toon without at least getting my speed to 30 or 40. Sucks, but it is what it is.

I think eso plus members should be able to feed all three skills once a day, but what do I know.

So, you want to do everything on one character, and basically have it all transfer to an alt?

What would be the point of creating an alt if you get everything handed to you, besides running a different class?

Champion Points are shared from 50. If you want to run with horses, pay for it, cheapskate!

For many of us that is exactly the point of creating an alt, though your generalization up to this admission was a fallacy.

Stating the system as it is, is not a defense of the system - I'm not sure what your last sentence is supposed to bring to the table in that regard?

I'm genuinely curious as to why people think it's a good system?

In my opinion the only reason it works this way is to have people log in every day or pay money. It's not fun, it's not interactive, it's annoying. It's frankly something I expect to see in something like Candy Crush (technically also a fallacy perhaps, but I thought it an interesting comparison).

Some people who have already maxed everything, made the sacrifice, might be annoyed by the thought that it might be changed, but that wouldn't be a very good argument I think.

Another edit: also very curious as to how this system will relate to the datamined horse races.
