Winning a Campaign

JDar

Wiining a campaign and holding Elder Scrolls are meaningless. The benefits for winning a campaign while holding the Elder Scrolls pale in comparison to the individual rewards people get from getting tons of AP. They get top of the leaderboard, they get to sell AP loot (what little there is that compares well to PvP loot), and they get higher alliance ranks.

You can farm a bunch of AP on a campaign where your faction is hopelessly outnumbered by zerglings. That is dumb. We all know the people who do this and have high alliance ranks. Meanwhile people who like to play on balanced campaigns and play solo while also playing the alliance war get little reward.

Let's stop this. Give a million AP and gold to everyone who has a toon on the winning side in a 30-day while also making accounts faction-bound. With One Tamriel coming up, there is no reason not to.

Give spoils to the victors, not just the selfish AP hogs. Make PvP a team game again. Make the Elder Scrolls worth something. Isn't that what this game is about? Nobody cares about them except to farm AP?

Make that 2 million AP and gold. Raise the stakes for winning a campaign and the game will be better for it. Be bold Brian. I get that we want everyone to get a participation trophy, every scrub that participates gets the same reward, but is the game better for it? Please stop with the everyone gets a trophy mentality. Make winning a campaign more important than tower farming and fooling pugs into chasing you into choke points. The game will be better.

You want campaigns to mean something again for a faction? I feel for you but that boat long sailed after Wheels went ahead and lifted campaign restrictions. I don't even think he's looked in the rear view mirror since.

Make that 5 million gold/AP for the winning faction, and 1m gold in bounty for the losing faction.

Remember buff campaigns? Well my idea is like that except it has teeth. Make losing a campaign painful. Remember how proud we were to win Wabbajack back in the day? That's gone. Bring back the magic.

That's unreasonably high and most likely will not happen due to re-rolls and everyone would probably just pile onto the winning faction making it more zergball/laggy..

The only reason to even fight for a win is epeen. It's never been something worth fighting for reward wise.

Also I really don't like the idea of monetary rewards to drive people to win, then it's just about farming for items/gold/AP rather than fighting to win for you faction.

Not sure what they can really add to drive that though.

I'm picturing you rocking yourself in a corner with a helmet made from aluminum foil staring at a cork-board filled with newspaper clippings of conspiracy theories.

My favorite is when certain people that post FTC recaps after every fight they lose and chalk up every loss to 'stacking' embed themselves in 3 raids of pact militia to fight at the one objective the zerg has decided to trample to.

We went over 3 hours with not a single sword popping on the map between ales and bleaks, with all of blue and all of red stacked in one festering zerg and still held our stuff, even with all of the moronic nerfs we've gotten between the TG and DB patch. I'm pretty happy about that. Nothing anyone can do after looking at that map and the time. What a well earned campaign win

Prorate the reward based on percentage of time spent on winning side, or disable it for people who switch alliance mid campaign, or lock reward eligibility during final week. Plenty of solutions to address people swapping just for the reward.

You know that end of campaign rewards scale from your campaign ranking right? Giving everyone a random number gold and AP on the winning side won't mean *** if they happen to be on that winning side but still farming regardless. Just because some players farm others for AP doesn't mean they'll lose out, especially since they can easily gain a million or two AP in the course of a month from farming zerglings. Adding in an exorbitant amount of gold to the mix as well will completely decimate the economy and lead to ridiculous inflation within the game, which never ends up well.

Not that this is really possible in the current state of PVP becasue of lag.

The best thing for PVP would be as a competition would be one campaign and not multiple campaigns. Bring a zone that is only is unlocked when you are the majority keep or scrolls holder. This zone could have all kinds of goodies and fun things to get or do.

Some of this might sound familiar becasue it has already been done by the same company in a earlier game they designed and ran. DAOC.

You had to participate in PVP all the time DAOC if you wanted in this zone and it was so fun. I am not a hard core PVPer by any means, but PVP is fun. This made the PVP map mean something because you wanted in that content for the drops and other activities the zone had. It made you check in and defend keeps becasue you did not want to have to take them all over again. I thought it was a great PVP experience. Sure it had it negatives, but I would take that environment over this one any day of the week.

If there is always another campaign to go to, then believe me a person most of the time will choose the easiest path to victory and not stick it out and beat back the enemy. As long as there is a buff campaign to run to, then this will always be the case.

There needs to be a immediate reward for being the current winner/stake holder on the PVP map. Not waiting 30 days or 7 days (there can be an additional reward for this). Faction owns all the keeps/Scrolls or whatever the rules are and now I have instant access to get into the great content with awesome drops and fun bosses to smash. I have to be able to organize and get int there quickly becasue you know the other factions are hitting the keeps and taking them from the few people that stay behind to slow them down.

DAOC to me was way better at PVP and keeping it fun and I have never understood why the same group of people is not using some of what they already know.

I was really hoping that IC was going to be the new Darkness Falls. Seemed like such a natural parallel, and makes logical sense that controlling the battlefield would grant access. Le sigh.
