How to increase provisioning skillset?

So I found some good recipes to make that will increase health, stam and what not, but I haven't figure out how to get the XP needed to increase and get the skillset upgrades to unlock so I can make the purchase with my skill points. So for clothing and blacksmithing, for example, you just deconstruct loads of armors to increase your skill levels so you can purchase the upgrades for crafting. So for food/provisioning, what do you have to do? Do you have to eat poultry or small games that you find or steal? Seems there is not an option to deconstruct any meat or stuff you find.

you cook and brew at fireplaces. The more ingredients it takes, the faster is the skill gain. You get it to 50 with just taking one skill in the skill line - one rank more in recipe quality - then you can do blue recipes as well and those are often in the reward for doing the writ. At level 6 you get the quest line to get certificated for doing daily writs.

    Make food. Tons of it.

    It's actually pretty easy.

To start with, you can make recipes up to level 15 without putting in any skill points. So find one of those, get about 100 of each of the mats you need for that and make 100 batches of the recipe.

If you have the skill points to spend right away, put as many into provisioning level as you can, get a recipe at the highest level you can make (green) and make a bunch of that food too. You will be at level 50 before you know it.

Or you can just collect recipes and ingredients as you go along and every time you see a cooking fire just cook as much stuff as you can until you run out of mats. That's what I did when I first started playing and I got to level 50 in about a week, IIRC.

Yeah, that is pretty much the easiest of all support skills to get to 50.

@Lysette, yes, but all my recipes I found are requiring recipe improvement 5 or 6. I have the meat and ingredients, but I can't cook any of the those, due to the higher requirements. I think I'm still at lvl 1 for provisioning. I had not figured before to put in any efforts towards provisioning until recently.

Start with those for the writs - chefs and brewers are selling them. Those are different for the alliance territories, but can all be done without any point invested into the skill line. DC for example golden lager, lemon flower matze, baked apples, fishy stick, carrot soup - recipes like that. Then farm some raw jute, those have often worms, and go fishing at the sea shore with those worms - and filet the fish and do fishy sticks for a start.

Provisioning is actually awesome - already the blue food and beverages are a huge help on lower levels. And you can use them with just 1 point invested into recipe quality.

So, pretty much all the recipes I found are in Wrothgar, and when I go to a fire, my recipes are blocked out, even though I have the ingredients. So, would I need to find a lvl 1 recipe or buy those from a chef? I'm not able to cook or brew anything currently.

If you are in European Tamriel then let khajiit know the details for posting and this one will send you any recipes she find that she does not need.

This one is currently training an apprentice who is about level 15 so he is picking up the occasional recipe that is not needed.

Go to a guild trader and purchase cheap green recipes (for less than 50 gold) for each improvement level.

Then start cooking the max level food you can.

Provisioning is the easiest crafting skill line to level up.

Buy your first recipes from chefs or brewers - those are those for the writs and you get exactly those which you can do.

And don't forget to do the writ certification quests -2 quest givers offer them when you are at least level 6. When you are certified you can pull writs from the crafting boards and do daily writs - those for provisioning have normally a recipe as reward, often even a blue one, and other ingredients as well. That is a good source for ingredients. Otherwise you can find them often in warehouses or on farms.

@SantieClaws, you crack me up. It's always good to read your writing/speech style.. same as those in-game Khajiit. Lol! Although, I might be a bit hesitant to take on your apprenticeship as I'm not sure what kind of food Khajiit cooks and eats or would it be the same edibility for nords. Lol! I'm on NA server, btw..

You will already be fine with blue recipes - those give 2 boni at a time already. I take normally additional magicka and stamina, when I am confident, that my health is sufficient, otherwise something what has health as well. Blue food makes my hybrid build more viable, I have enough health normally, but I lack damage and this makes up for it. And I can use both equally - magicka and stamina based skills.

And a hint to DLC territories - eat food or a drink when you are in the DLC area. The effects do not scale with the other attributes, so if you take them before you enter the DLC area, you will not have the same benefit from them.

Go to guild stores buy some cheap recipes and a heap of regredients that match the recipes and start crafting like mad. Took me literally 30 mins to get to lvl 50 provisioning using this method.

It is faster with blue recipes than with green ones - a whole lot faster - this 1 rank in recipe quality is really worth it.

What got me intrigued and really interested in provisioning was when I ran across a purple recipe a while back that I believe, will boost your stam to 6000 or something for an hour, or was it 2, I can't recall. Unfortunately, I didn't pick up that recipe cause I didn't think much about it at the time or had been interested in provisioning. Then after awhile of thinking back about it, I finally realize I am missing out on a key skillset. So far I have a few lvl 5 and 6 recipes that will boost health, stam and majicka for 35 minutes (yet to acquire the skillset). Are there purple or gold recipes out there that will boost higher rating at longer period?

What are some good recipes that you all have found?

    Khajiit guide to edibility:

In a bin - Great the food it is free!

Green - Excellent. Green food is healthy yes?

Dish of the Day at the Rosy Lion - Proceed with caution ...

Smells bad - Ah the charming scent of the street! So alluring to a hungry khajiit.

Handled by an elf - Yuck. Never! Khajiit would not stoop so low! You insult this one by even offering.

i would do that route via fishing - it takes longer but it might give you perfect roe and rare fish - like the etheric grouper in Stros M'Kai for example - that sea fish is worth 110 gold. There is one fishing spot on Stros M'Kai, where it has about 15% chance to catch it.

a couple ways to level this quickly, depending on where you are and where you can go.

one --- get a blue recipe, like apple baked fish or something like that --- get a ton of ingredients and make all of it -- blues level you quicker than greens.

or --- there is a place called " the vile manse " -- i believe it is in malobal tor -- the basement is a dungeon, so avoid it -- but the main floor and upstairs is packed with food -- gather all of it, go to the fire in the kitchen, make it all, then go into the cellar ( which prompts a loading screen) and come back upstairs and do it again. lather, rinse. repeat.

Oh yes, the vile manse.. it's in Reaper march. I still due to tackle that. I'm still a bit scared (even though I'm V16. lol!). I'll hit it once I build up more of my defense and damage absorbing factors. I currently have bunch of green and one blue recipes, but all are requiring improvement 5 and 6 and quality 2. So, yes, I think I would need to start low with finding or purchasing some lv1 recipes.

There are even gold recipes out there; you can get at least one from a side quest in Orsinium.

Investing a few points into a provisioner hireling might be a good idea as well. To make the higher level recipes you need frost Merriam and bervez juice, and to the best of my memory you only get those as writ rewards and from your hireling.
