The metal is a color. The sword is also that color. Pretty immersion breaking to have a sword made of ruby red metal that isn't ruby red.

But generally I try to stick true to what would be a little more realistic to the setting.
How utterly boring... I mean, i will never dye anything bright pink and purple, but keeping leather poo-brown and a sword in grey is way too dark-ages uninspiring to me personally. But hey - if that's your thing..
Red weapons fit the setting - unless you think the setting is medieval Europe, in which case uh, wrong game? But this is Tamriel and you forged your weapons from a red metal. Nothing inherently wrong with that concept.Korah_Eaglecry wrote: »Id still prefer to stick to silvers and steel colors. That said, I strongly support weapon dyes.

Iron is a dull grey.
Steel is a shiny-metal hue.
Orichalcum weapons are a dirty-green.
Galatite weapons have a rose-ish hue.
Quicksilver weapons have a shiny-metal hue.
Voidstone weapons are blue-black.
Rubetite weapons are a crimson red.
The weapons have always matched the color of the metal that they were forged from. Which, btw, the crimson of the Rubedite weapons looks sick with the Daedric crafting style.
I don't want anyone to take this to seem like I have any issue with weapon dying. I don't have any problem with it, and I couldn't really care less whether we get to ever dye our weapons or not. I like the color variations that that the different metals give to my weapons.
I just don't see what the big issue is with the color of Rubedite weapons.
I never said I had a problem with weapon dyes.Uriel_Nocturne wrote: »I'm not sure I understand what the issue is.

The issue is that people want weapons that match their armor instead of stick out like a bright red sore thumb. Weapon dyes would solve that problem. Also you can't exactly make an iron sword because you like the color and then show up to your PvP/PvE raid and be like "I did it for RP".

Yeah because everyone wants to zip around in neon greens and blues in a fantasy setting. Tell me Legolas, whats your favorite color?

Make glass swords. At vet 16 they are not green, but silver. They have a very small green stripe through the center but are 90% silver.
Enjoy!

Damn. It's like I don't exist. I give you guys the solution to your problem right here and then no one notices or comments on it, yet you continue to argue for a full page about it.
WANT SILVER VET 16 SWORDS??? MAKE THEN GLASS. THEY COME OUT SILVER.

Not everbody has the motif or likes it. It's not a solution to the problem...

It IS a solution. Don't like red swords, make glass ones. Find someone else to make them, but it DOES in fact fix the problem of swords being red.
Carry on

Black and Red - no neon greens. What's yours Mr. Broring?
