It doesn't matter. Because people will start complaining as always. They simply think that by buying the game they are entitled to completing everything with low effort and ridiculous builds. Look at wgt and icp, they were perfect in the beginning. Then the l2p crowd started yelling and there you go, nerfed to death.

It won't matter what they do the l2p crowd thinks they are entitled to everything without any serious effort.

I believe the idea is supposed to be that it does not give better rewards, only a higher chance on them. So those "entitled" people who want all the best gear in the game without much effort can still get them, but those tanks and healers among us would have some content to do

    Nightmare mode trials? Maybe...

Nightmare mode dungeons? Don't make me laugh.

Nightmare mode is a sacred thing, something that shouldn't be slapped on some run-of-the-mill four player content. Also, you can't just go around increasing health and retune the damage output of the bosses, and call it a Nightmare mode.

And i don't think that there is a sadistic enough person in the trial designer team, who could come up with something as savage as a proper nightmare mode for the existing trials.
"Your courage... your power... are not completely insignificant. Perhaps you can be made to serve. Do not fight. Do not resist. Give yourselves over now, or be destroyed."

If you think balance complaints are common now... I cant imagine the forums with nightmare mode. Obviously NM would provide better rewards and the only way to get those would be to min-max the crap out of characters and groups. 'Oh, youre a stamblade and your buddy is a sorc? Thats cute. Why dont you two queue for silver.'

But difficulty has nothing to do with balance issues and "play as you want" stuff.

It does in MMOs where you compete with and are dependent on other players.
Dark Souls, for example, is truly "play as you want". You can beat the whole game without leveling, even pvp with lvl 1 char against higher levels and win, you can use any gear setup you can think of - there's plenty of videos of naked runs, and one guy even did a DS2 walkthrough with a broken ladle as a weapon on highest possible difficulty. But this game is not a cakewalk compared to many modern games.

Again, how does this apply to ESO?
ESO has multiple problems in this regard: firstly, its obvious balance issues, and secondly, its a very vocal part of playerbase that thinks that "play as you want" means "play with permanent tgm".
Also, who in their right mind would pug for highest difficulty challenges?

Oh Im not talking pugs. I was giving you an example of what you hear in guild chat.
P2P offered you 'hell yeah!' moments. F2P offers you 'thank god its over' moments.

Absolutely! There are players who have become bored with the normal gameplay. There really is nothing to challenge them anymore, since they got all the best gear, and all the champion points, bested all the arenas, etc. They need something extra to play.

Go play cyordiil on prime time if you want a nightmare mode. You need to predict people and your own actions with at least 1 second delay that requires real skill.

Why would it bother you if it was an option,a mode that someone could choose. Not change the entire game to Nightmare.I wouldnt ever play that mode, but why not allow those who would love ti be able to find challenge.I mean, you and I wouldnt have to choose that option. We could just go on and play our game without issue. :)

@Nifty2g I'm a bit split on this matter...

Keeping things simple and easy makes a lot of experienced players mingle and use the grouping tool to get through their pledges.

I mean when I do dungeon runs with my new guildies, use the grouping tool or pug - I usually join as a dps to increase the chances of success. I can't always save or carry 3 people through a veteran dungeon, if I focus on keeping them alive...

Giving the option for a nightmare mode would perhaps change this balance, and create a gap/ segregation between the already experienced players who are social enough to have a network of friends and guildies they can do runs with - and leave the rest of Tamriel to their own ..like we already have for trials, where only the best teams are attempting veteran Maw of Lorkhaj because most trial groups can't even get past the first adds that have more hitpoints than any group dungeon boss could dream off.

On the other side I'm so bored of this current difficulty - I joined veteran Fungal Grotto goldpledge today with half passives and no champion points - I died 5-6 times through the endboss fight while my team killed the boss. What slowed them down was ressurrecting my drunk noob elf all the time >.<

I would like a bit more challenge and a reason for me to do group dungeons whithout it being "helping" someone. I carry 340 goldkeys in my inventory and I have enough monster helmets with proper traits to dress up my whole guild.
I want 3 modes to create a learning curve for everyone.
Right now its terrible, you got normal mode and veteran mode.
There is a massive jump between them
I normally wouldn't mind a learning curve, but I fear this would only create a bigger gap between players - and nobody with experience would bother with easy difficulty - leaving the inexperienced and new part of the community to themselves. This could lead to the inexperienced players being more attracted toward the Nightmare Difficulty mode, and requesting for nerfs of that in the future - just like with WGT and ICP that have an easy normal-mode and veteran mode (both modes have been nerfed now).

I've come to realize that many new members of my guild struggle at finding a group at all for the most simple dungeons, specially the ones below cp160. The other guilds where I'm officer in have the same problem with new members, who don't know how to find groups and rely on grouping tool and pugging.

I'm personally drowned in group requests, I usually get 2-3 requests for pledges and dungeons within the first minute I log in and the requests don't stop there. About 3 weeks ago I got a new guildie who wanted to do WGT, so we grouped up and I told him my tank would join us after 5min and apologized for the waiting - so he told me that he is used to wait 1-2 hours for groups x_x

I think what could help is to introduce simple tutorials for dungeons, and more tools and events for players to communicate with eachother. The better connected the playerbase is, and the more we communicate - the more options we get for grouping up and completing content ....so it might make ZOS stop nerfing everything into the ground.

No. I do not like nightmares. They make me feel bad. And feeling bad is bad.

Yes, but not because of increased rewards, for the challenge.
