Alloy = Citrine Isn't it about time you change the bloomin picture?!

Every other day I hear of people being scammed or nearly being scammed by COD when people try to sell people Citrine instead of Alloys. I'm constantly putting up reminders on my page to warn people old & new.

Now I know "check your mail before you accept" however some people forget or accidentally just hit accept. Even if people do check they've wasted time and saved money, whilst they're waiting, and are missing out on other deals from other traders.

Wouldn't it just be more on form with ESO rules to change the picture like any other 'hot fixes' or maintenance that goes on to make sure exploits don't happen?! Why is this exploit constantly overlooked?

Its been going on since the game began....

Very good point OP, would be a very easy & simple fix... they make new icons all the time, they probably already have something laying around they could change it to.

Yup I even made a video of the person who attempted to scam me but scammed other players. I gave ZOS the video and that person hasn't been banned yet lol...

I wouldnt even care of all the different motif components looked alike. Or all the trait materials. But to have an item that is near worthless look exactly like one of the most expensive crafting mats is just dumb and lazy.

Can you honestly say that? I've seen exploits that are still around from when I started playing.

In my honest opinion yes, but only of the ones I've known about - if there's more then obviously i can't comment on those fair enough. Still here's one I am commenting about and I'd like to see fixed.

I haven't gotten scammed either...

But many have....and given how ZoS changes these icons quite regularly you would think it was probably a case where you could measure the effort in minutes on their part to change this.

Many others have been scammed... and have been getting scammed for years now since the game launched due to these icons being identical.

And many more will be scammed in the future if ZoS doesn't update the icon... seems like a simple one for them to fix to me.

It is a scam. Two different things, totally

I mean literally all you need to do is press the right thumb stick or put cursor over on pc just before accepting. If you miss out on a deal because it took you less than a second, well you would have missed it anyway.

I'm not saying they shouldn't change it. In fact I think they should, but only because they are very different items. Not because people get scammed.

^^ Read it shows you. E.G post on Facebook advertising say 10 alloys then the buyer asks them to cod as they are i don't know in cyrodil, or only have one alliance and can't face to face buy. The seller COD's the citrine deliberately being dishonest as hes advertised alloys.

Imagine you level up.... you aren't interested in crafting so don't pay any attention to any of the mats... get to vet, need some gear improved and go to buy some mats... SCAMMED

Imagine you are tired / distracted / drunk / have other things on your mind.... SCAMMED.

Its a weak & entirely pointless arguement to come here and say 'People can just check what they're buying'..... It's a tiny piece of work for ZoS to undertake that would eliminate the people attempting to dishonestly scam gold out of innocent victims.

Its also annoying when you think you have an alloy in a hireling & then it turns out to be citrine...

There is really no angle at all to argue against this change...

Apart from maybe those who make money from scamming, that's the only one I can think of.

I wouldn't rule out "sadistic"- we are talking about game designers, here...

They've always known about it, they did a huge icon overhaul when they re-worked provisioning... I suspect someone thought it was "funny" in the context of troll hireling mails.

Unfortunately, because the scam is easily preventable (actually read the mail before you accept), I don't think they have strong motivation to change it.

Whilst not meaning to take a stab at you for this comment (sorry) - The motivation should be the amount of unhappy players with this problem and the fact that it is a problem full stop. One that is easily preventable and there for I agree with the prior comment 'lazy' not to fix it
