I don't mind pugs - I joined eso without knowing anyone else before hand. People I call friends now are those whom I met in pugs.

I like to group most with friends, if we're still lacking a few for an activity I ask in guilds, if everyone is too busy, I ask zone. If no one responds, I queue group finder.

When grouping with randoms I'd be lying if I said I don't filter people. Depending on the dungeon we're doing, I may prefer experienced people but if its a non-vet or an easier vet dungeon I like to help someone out with their pledge.

I play mainly solo, but if I group up, then with friends, who happen to be my guild mates as well.

Your missing some of the best content in the game. There is much that is designed for multiple players and while many skilled players can clear 4 man dungeons there are the trials which are 12 man and more challenging to do solo.

Randoms, friends, guildmates, people I just met on zone chat but who I like already, people I've been running with for a while so we have some kind of silent mutual understanding despite not being on each other's guilds/friend lists... Pretty much anyone.

I have been playing alone since launch. The only time i have EVER played with other players were with trials and group dungeons. Other than that i have soloed the whole game.

Usually with guildies but decided to pug spindleclutch yesterday.....how hard can that be??

Evidently, very......me on my vr16 sorc, 2 vr1's and a vr3.....the tank was dual wield and bow and the healer ran out of magicka during first trash pull through BOL spamming. Tried to offer advice through chat but got stonewalled so i left after a few wipes.

Saying that I then pugged it on my healer and we finished it in about 15mins no deaths. Guess its luck of the draw.

There is a core four of us that regularly do dungeons and stuff together.

After that, I'll try and join up with guildies to assist them.

And when I'm bored and/or just want to get silver done, I'll live the pug life.

Friends/Guildmates.

In this order:

1. Solo (just getting that content done is time-consuming enough).
2. Friends (if a friend whispers and needs help or wants to run a dungeon, I'll usually do it unless I'm about to log off).
3. Guildmates (when I can - my schedule doesn't always work for everyone).
4. PUGs if it works out, but it's been a long time.

A couple of incidents have turned me off PUGs. One where I got stuck in a group more than 10 levels above me and the leader (I was V1 and he was V16) wouldn't let go of the leader position. So, surprise, surprise, I ended up dying a lot, which made no one happy, particularly me.

That last one, two of the members of the group got in an argument and one dropped, leaving us to find a replacement. I waited around for a 25 minutes while that happened because I didn't want to abandon the group, but wow, what a waste of time.

PUGs are hit and miss. I have friends I've made in PUGs and we're still friends. I guess that's why, if I can fit a PUG in, I'll try. But lately, PUGs seem to be filled with angry people who play a social game but apparently hate other human beings. If it's not fun and enjoyable, I'm not going to do it.

This is the heart of the problem. If I had 100g for every time I was the only person in a dungeon group using chat, I could bid on and win every guild trader in the game.

I have had too many bad experiences with PUG groups while trying to do pledges. Easy dungeons like vetSpindleclutch or vetFungal Grotto turn into 2 hour ordeals with wipe after wipe. Some people just DO NOT, CAN NOT, WILL NOT listen to instruction. Some people do not communicate. Some people have obviously never run dungeons before.

When I have to explain 5 times that you do not attack the second boss (the ghost that drains your magic) in Spindleclutch until the phantom spiders and other adds are dead and they STILL go right after him.......

When your "tank" gets one shot by regular adds.......

When you are staked down in the grotto and people are yelling at you to CC-brake out of it instead of killing the guys holding the chains.....

.....it is time to stop running with pugs. That said, I have had a few (very few) PUG groups that have worked well and we did the pledge no problem. But there are many more bad groups out there than good, or even competent ones. I would rather not do a pledge at all than do one that takes more than an hour to complete.

Mostly guildies and friends, but I also group with others, I have been lucky to have friends that I have played with on line since Star Wars Galaxies and LOTRO, we have became rl friends and have gone to pax together and vist when traveling good stuff.

I'm usually overwhelmed by whispers and requests by login, so I sometimes I go in offline mode to escape from my friends and pug through group finder, because I like meeting new people and do the dungeons in a different way than the usual 8-15min faceroll. I've known most of my guildies and friends for 1-2 years and group content is just so repetititve, I have close to 600 cp, stored 300+ goldkeys already that I have no use for x_x
...joining a level 20-30 scaled dungeon with lowbies and watching them become pew-pew-killers buffed with Spell Power Cure and Aggressive Warhorn has become more enjoyable to me than doing another v16 scaled pledge. Frankly I just miss new content that is just somewhat a challenge
