Feedback: Guild Management Utilities.

Hello everyone! This is something I've asked many players and guild masters about. I wanted to know how they manage their guilds and what utilities would better help them do that. Below I have listed the most popular of my findings. While not everyone will agree on some, these are just what I found to be the most wanted by players and guild masters alike. At the beginning of the year we were promised "Work on a Looking for Guild system, as well as updates and fixes to make it easier manage player guilds." I play on console Xbox 1 NA, so I don't have access to add-ons. I run a 500 member Guild, and I love it. I love this game. So I figured the best way for me to contribute to it was to make it easier to manage the very thing that binds most players together. This list is by no means a final draft and I am always open to constructive feedback. If you have any ideas please comment below.

List of needed changes for guild management:

- Longer MOTD x4
● In a 500 member guild that runs raffles, PvE and PvP events along with anything else that might happen to be going on the MOTD is way to short. The editor could use a little love too.

- Ability to buy/sell ranks (with timers and cool downs)
● This one is probably gonna get some hate. Let me just sat I love this idea. Being on console sort of sucks because ZOS let pc players come over with such huge amounts of end game items, pc transfers literally have billions on console. So they can pretty much gtab whatever trader they want. To compensate for that traders in some areas go for as much as 5 million a week. Yes 5 million a week.

- Kick specific guildies from chat (timed/ cooldowns)
● Imagine a Guildie has gone afk but forgot to mute their mic. Nothing kills a chat faster than that.

- See total gold/items donated in member notes.
● This is just useful.

-Ability to see items specific members have listed in guild store in member notes.
● For trade guilds this would be amazing. You can not only see how many items a guildie has listed but what they are.

- Black list players.
● Some players just need to go.

- Show dungeon roles of guildies.
● Looking for a tank? Found one.

-Show characters list of guildies.
● This one isn't exactly useful. But it is pretty neat.

-Show join date.
● Ever want to know who is new and who isn't when you join a guild?

-More ranks.
● Seriously we just need more.

- More tabbard customizations.
● With a game that has as much history as ESO you would think there would be more art available for this.

- Last online date.
● Why isn't this already a thing?

- About us x4 larger
● Same reasons as the MOTD.

- Change chat channel names.
● Probably the first thing most people say when I ask them what they would like to see changed.

- Guild timeline.
● It's always nice to see a good timeline.

- Guild events/calendar.
● The ability for players and officers to Schedule events and plan them out is the bread and butter of a good guild. Lets make that a bit easier yeah?

- Guild mail.
● I know, MOTD does this. But what if you need to send out a message to to a specific ranks of people?

- Raffel chests.
● So many guilds run raffles. Would it be nice if the game help support that.

- Member spotlights.
● Ever want to do a shout out to a guildie that is always super helpful?

- Guildies wearing same tabbard glow green.
● This would help loyal guildies identify one another from a distance. Obviously it would have to be on a toggle.

- Ability to set price range of specific items for listing in entire guild store.
● This one is going to get some real hate. Lol. But honestly if it's abused leave that guild. The more control a GM has over a guild the better they can manage it.

- Add average listed prices for items in that particular guild store when listing.
● I don't understand why this isn't a thing already.

- Ability to removed specific listed items of other members from guild store without kicking them.
● Ever see a guildie list something way below market price yet have other items of the same thinges listed at current price?

- Guild text chat rooms.
● Some player simply can't talk. I have a few in my guild, this would fix that issue.

- Ability to edit own member notes. /Can edit notes of specific ranks.
● The ability to edit notes is cool but is just to broad a sword to let most people use.

- Fix the guild roster so it doesn't scroll when a player gets on or offline while viewing it.
● Yeah that " fix" for spamming the message rate cause more issues than it solved.

- Make the guild history scroll like the guild roster to prevent getting kicked while checking it. Also make it and guild roster refresh only when you exit it's menu.
● Getting kicked for nothing sucks. But having to tap a button 50000 times sucks more.

- Ability to allow members (other than guild master) edit heraldry (tabbard)
● Have the GM as the only person to do this is just ridiculous. Why not let a whole rank be able to do it?

- Allow Guild Master to adjust the tax percent of sales.
● YES, I know this could be abused. Leave that guild if they do. But this could be done instead of having membership dues.

- Allow guildies to be in guild chat and group chat at the same time. (Allow any 2 chats channels at once.)
● Why isn't this a thing already?

- Seperate gold deposits and items deposits in guild bank history.
● Guild history is great. You know what else is great the ability to sort through it all.

- Suspend currently listed items if guild member loses Guild Trader access. Items are not viewable by the public until Trader access has been restored.
● Currently if a guildie looses selling privileges all their stuff stays up for sale. This allows people to get acess then not pay mbership fees again until they want to reliat. It's abusing the way the current system works.

- See group that guildies are in a group and request to join that group.
● Sometimes you try and group with someone and they are already in a group.. why doesn't the general send that nm person a notification to allow them to join that current group?

Many of these things, as well as other related items, have been asked for since the beta. Sadly, the best we've gotten from Zenimax is the old "we'd love to do it but we have no ETA" canned response for one or two of them and silence for the rest.
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

Yes. That is true. However they said they will be doing it this year. So I am trying to get ahead of them and get the communitis feedback so we get the things we need to run guilds.

Yes I agree with all of it. Yes we are long over due for guild utility overhaul, and yes I feel your pain of scrolling through the guild roster only to have it refresh you to the top.

There are some things on that list that are obviously specific to consoles (I'm on PC, for example on PC guild members can edit their own member note if the GM allows it, but it should stay GM controlled because it allows us to make a note - like in my trade guild if anyone has told me they will be away for a while, in play guilds generally people are allowed to edit their own note; stuff about chat is clearly a console-only issue, same with scrolling issues)

Some I agree with (larger MOTD, events calendar, a separate tab on the guild bank for storing prizes/auction items, being able to see gold deposits and item deposits separately, built in guild mail)

Some I strongly disagree with (allowing people other than GM to edit heraldry, absolutely no way, the guild I run has a history to its tabard, I do not want anyone going in and changing it on a whim - if anyone doesn't like it, it's not as thought they are forced to wear it; ability to buy/sell guild ranks - I don't know why you are complaining about trader spots being 5 million on consoles as that is cheap compared to top spots on PC, and I can't see how selling ranks relates to that; control over pricing by GM and officers absolutely no way, if someone in my guild wants to list something cheaply or list it way above market price that is up to them, I don't want ANY control over that whatsoever, I don't do price-fixing and think it would be a bad thing for the game's economy if all kiosks had minimum and maximum pricing for goods).

Something I WOULD like to see - more control over which guild ranks can take what level items, and how many, out of the bank. My guild currently doesn't have an open to all bank due to past abuse of the feature, but I would like to be able to allow (as an example) all people of a specific rank be able to take out consumables, trait stones, up to x amount of certain white crafting mats etc.

Why would you allow someone the ability to edit it if you didn't want them to have it?

I see why you feel the way you do. And mostly I agree. However other guilds will want these abilities that you may not use. Just because you don't want or won't use them does not mean that other guilds shouldn't have the option to use them.

I agree that for most of the things that you suggest, but allowing a guild to set prices on things would be horrible for the economy in general, affecting others beyond those guilds, so I could not support it even being an option.

Exactly if you don't like a way a guild is run, leave it. But guilds should have these tools to be able to better run their guilds. That's cool they had an addon. But console players dont. And while I'm sure there are quite a few PC players on here, I would be very interested to see how many players on the game are from which servers. My guess is that console makes up at least 70% of people who play this game. Maybe more.

I agree. Being the gm on a guild of nearly 250 on console is awesome but also has severe drawbacks in comparison to pc. Without the add-ons I've taken to precise spreadsheets to keep track of things that would be so much simpler with actual guild tools.
Being able to see when someone was last online just seems basic to me as does when they last deposited etc.
I would also love a feature that allowed messages to go directly to inbox. I end up repeating info a million times because people don't read the MOTD and instead come to chat and ask what's new amndnd what the raffle is etc.
All in all, I really hope zos hears us on this, yes there will always be features some think we shouldn't have but I don't see what's wrong with at least having the OPTION to have these tools. Don't like em, don't use em lol.

I mean there are many more sources. But Google should help you out there. There are currently 6 ESO servers, 4 of which belong to consoles. And while I'm sure there are more computers sold last year than console combined. Consoles areore or less dedicated to playing games. At least more than a pc is. Anyways this is off topic and I won't be discussing console vs pc any longer. I was only trying to point out the majority of players dont have add-ons to help them. This isnt a console vs pc thread.

It is visible.. but it's a nightmare. Not only because we can't copy and the list so we either have to write it down each time or do them one by one. Then when you get to the roster every time a player logs on or off it scrolls you back to the very top of said roster. It's such a bad system. This would all be solved if you had the ability to make certain ranks purchasable, with and added timer so they can by them a week at a time or even buy it multiple times and have it stack. Also I'm pretty sure hewant 5k that's pretty standard on console..

I see now why you might want purchasable ranks. At first I thought it was silly, but you appear to be using it as a means to track membership fees. In that case, I suppose the idea has some merit but the issue of tracking membership fees could be handled in other ways. "Buying guild ranks" was probably just very poor phrasing without explaining your reasoning why in the OP.

Adjusting the sales tax might seem good in theory, but would probably end up badly when implemented. Many would flock to stores with low sales tax and optional membership fees/raffle entries. Those that raise it even 1% above the minimum would seem like tyrants trying to squeeze their members for gold even if that was not the intention.

I mean sure, some people would complain and leave. But most guildies would understand the need if the guild was well managed. Most people generally have a good sense of what is fair and what is scamming.

It was confirmed "last online" time for members will come to console with DB.

And I'd guess that whenever console gets text chat, there will be a guild chat channel.

That's good. But those things alone are simply not enough. Those should have been basic features. I'm glad they are adding them.

Many of these things, as well as other related items, have been asked for since the beta. Sadly, the best we've gotten from Zenimax is the old "we'd love to do it but we have no ETA" canned response for one or two of them and silence for the rest.

Yes. That is true. However they said they will be doing it this year. So I am trying to get ahead of them and get the communitis feedback so we get the things we need to run guilds.

Do you have a source for this? I'd love to read / hear exactly what they said about it; this is an area of the game that is severely lacking at present.
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

Oh for sure. PC already had this ability but it was attached to "hovering" over an icon so glad to see it will be coming to console as well.

My guild list also tells me when someone joined... but I'm not sure if that is base game or an add-on.

I really do believe guilds need a lot more tools than we currently have. A long MOTD is absolutely needed! An events calendar would be amazing as well. To be honest, if an event calendar was added a longer MOTD maybe would not be needed. Those would be my top wants for guilds. Black listing players would also be brilliant.

Exactly. These features would be relatively easy to add as the information to do most of it already exists in the game. They just have to show it to us.

Checking who paid the trade dues and promoting and demoting on Mondays with no ability to see who put in 50k last week to cover them this week kills my soul. O.o

If that isn't visible on console through the bank interface then it ought to be - but 50k in dues, good grief, my jaw dropped at that.

No! It's only 5k a week but a few guys overpay to cover them so they pay once every 4 or 5 weeks.
