You cannot start a conversation and specifically place off limits the obvious solution Sos has provided. Any other solution is not going to happen for the same obvious reasons. Zos is here to make real money.
Next? Happy to bring this conversation to conclusion.
The reason I didn't bring microtransactions into the discussion is because it's a 'slippery slope' type of discussion. It opens a whole can of worms about what is or is not legitimate to charge for microtransactions. I think it's obvious where I stand on riding skills being tied to microtransactions, so why would I want to keep talking about it? That would be beating a dead horse (ba-dum!)
Some advice: I would be careful calling microtransactions a "solution" for an in-game mechanic. That's an even more slippery slope.

So why didn't you make a thread about how the Crown Store Riding Lessons is an inadequate solution to the whole Riding Lesson "problem" that you (but not everyone) perceives?

Agreed. The 20hr lock is the most awful system I have ever come across. 150 days to max out ONE characters horse IF you log on every 20hours. That's ludicrous.
This is one of the main reasons why the two level 12ish alts I have do not get touched. I cannot bother with such a primitive and cash shop grabbing system.
I'm the same way with alts. I think up a cool build I want to play and then they just sit there because I really dislike having to do the riding skills all over again.
I'm sure there are a lot of us out there.
Past the horrendous horse system then I think about all the same skyshards I need to go click on in every zone and delve for an alt.
And past that, the grind of pointless Cadwell with an alt.
Not a very alt friendly game.

AHHAHAHHAHA what MMO is not more ALT friendly than this game? by far this is the most alt friendly game i have stumbled upon....
*** buy something from the cash shop- usable usable by all your alts
*** All guilds shared over all toons- no need to rejoin - find new ones with every alt you make
**** And the biggest most obvious reason this is the most easily accessible mmo for toons
- almost too easy -
is the fact that in a month or two any progression in this game is account bound - create a level one alt and
WOW a new alt that is just as strong as the best character on your roster, no need to doooo all that content again.
so they left the books and skyshards- we cant have it too easy now can we.........
sure the mount thing is a pain in the arse - was a reasonable implement at launch- now its a hindrance ...
but to call this game an alt friendly game???? take a step back and smell the roses
This would directly harm my personal enjoyment of ESO. I have purposefully not maxed out all of my riding skills on my main and alts. I like that they play a little differently.
I don't WANT all of my characters to be the same... same CPs... Same Costumes available... Same Mounts available. At least with riding skills I can make them feel a little different when riding around.

Now... I'm not one to say MY play style is more important than YOUR play style, I could get behind a Crown Store item that is only purchasable by players who have maxed out their riding skills on one character. This item would automatically raise all the riding skills of all your existing characters to max. Maybe it would even apply to new characters too.
I'd be more than happy with that solution... I just don't want ZOS to impose your play preferences on all of us. They've done enough of that already.

I agree entirely. I play every one of my characters as if he or she is my main. Indeed, I don't actually have a main. I hate the fact that they all get another character's dye unlocks and champion points, I certainly don't want them getting another character's skills or achievements.

It takes time to train a horse. You can't just feed it more until it runs faster - it has to develop strength and stamina over time.
If that were the case, I would just drag my bloated overweight carcass to the gym this afternoon and be ripped by supper time. It ain't gonna work like that.

I second this. Just like you learn the skills again, you also learn ti ride. So no, every player should have 0 0 0 horse, as of now.

But by that logic, no new alt should have access to CP's until they are level 50 at least. So am I correct in assuming you are against CP's for alts?

I played on my main but always upgraded my mounts on all alts when I was playing, which has been every day for over a year. I've been able to max out my main and am close to doing the same on 3 other alts. So when I do go back to my lower level alts they have a good amount a riding skill in the bank so to speak.
