Stamina Sorcerer Feedback Thread: Patch 2.4.3 Update - Crit surge now affected by Battle Spirit

    I would argue that devs are already aware of this lore-specificity (luckily are they not as ignorant as the one you quoted!), seeing as in the later Pact zones, Eastmarch esp., most quest NPC you fight are "barbarian"-like with a Stam Sorcerer twist, charging at you with 2handers that they enhance with a Surge-like looking ability, like for exemple the "evil" Nord king in Eastmach "main zone quest" and a lot of his minions, all going Thor-style with 2handers & Thunder!

    PS : personal wish : add +thunder/wind dmg passive to Nords, they deserve it ^^.

    Changing Crit Surge to proc with DoTs is great. This coupled with Silver Leash now being a gap closer opens up two skill lines for use. However, as long as shields can't be crit, and running 7 Impen is best in slot then Crit Surge can not be answer for PvP. There are more hard counters to Crit Surge now then there are to Cloak.

      • Conjured Ward
      • Steadfast Ward
      • Annulment
      • Bone Shield
      • Barrier
      • Reinforced CP passive
    • Cloak
      • Mage Light
      • Expert Hunter
      • Revealing Flare
      • Detection Potions

    The uniqueness we want is our mobility. The Streak nerf hit us much harder than it did Magic Sorcs, and Hurricane having no Expedition buff nearly removes it altogether.

    Another thing I really want is a class spammable that does something different. When I'm creating my build I want to take some serious consideration into what I will use as my spammable DPS skill, because Uppercut, Flurry, and a class skill are all equally good but different. Surprise Attack, and Biting Jabs verses Uppercut is a great example of this currently in game.

    Something most of you dont seem to realize is that crit surge actually works off shields.
    It has done so for quite some time, but only recently it has been fixed to actually heal at a reasonable level.
    Whenever you attack a shielded target there is a chance = your crit chance to heal off 60% of the damage done to the shield (sneak attacks and crit charge heal 100% of the time).

    The biggest counter to crit surge is not shields anymore, but block. A blocking DK can simply wear a stam sorc down without giving any window of catching back up via crit surge healing simply due to the Dk blocking all the big hits.

    IF we get surge to be able to heal off DoTs that counter will get its own counter ( stacking DoTs, which are unblockable) and can lead to interesting dynamics in fights. This change alone would go a long way to make stam sorcs a competetive PvP class.

    Honestly don't know why you complain so much about other classes when all you do is zerg on PS4 and when you are alone, you instantly squeal like a pig for help from your fellow zerglings and still get 1vX. Just another terrible player with a L2P issue and doesn't know how to adapt. So do yourself a favor and stop zerging the entire map and then you may once and for all get better at the game.

    Now that we have a "Z" badge next to our name, this thread is going to get a lot more attention. We've had almost two more pages since Eric's comment this morning. You can help this PTS thread stay useful to the development team and on topic by not arguing with people that come here to derail the thread and troll by making the following types of post.
    • Stamina sorcs shouldn't exist because (blah blah lore) and they break my immerzunz.
    • Stamina Sorcs are fine, ZOS should pay more attention to (what ever class the poster's main happens to be).

    Don't feed the trolls, just ignore, move on and keep posting those great suggestions. The PTS forums are a tool for the devs, not place to argue about lore. If I see any unique and novel ideas or suggestions that haven't been mentioned before I will add them to the list at the front of the thread so they don't get buried.

    I really like this idea. It would also make it easier for the devs if they could just copy the animations from an NPC attack. But you are right, some of the 2H thunder/lighting NPC abilities do look sweet!

    What I like best about Hurricane is that it opens the door to a lot of other possibilities for wind themed stamina morphs. How about a stamina version of Streak called Gust or Breeze or something like that? Casting this skill would send you wooshing through the air, leaving swirling clouds of dust in your wake like the Road Runner:

    Force Majeure (replace Daedric Prey):
    Curse an enemy with a Majeure Tempest, dealing [x] Physical Damage to the target enemy after 4.5 (or adjust as needed) seconds and [y] Physical Damage to any enemies nearby. Damage from Tempest causes [x] seconds of (insert some kind of cc).
    Using Force Majeure gives [x] Stamina back (this effect can only happen every [x] seconds)
    You can have only one curse active at any given time.

    then adjust velocios to give [x] magicka back etc. or even make it [x] stam/mag regen for however many seconds.

    to continue with the theme you could change "summon charged atronach" to "summon bellowing atronach" and have it throw cyclones or something similar that deal physical damage along with its own hurricane for the aoe:

    Summon a bellowing atronach at the target location. The atronach’s arrival deals [x] Physical Damage and disorients nearby enemies for 3 seconds. The atronach cannot move but attacks the nearest enemy with targeted and area attacks.
    An ally can activate Eye of the Hurricane, giving both the ally and the atronach Major Berserk, increasing their damage by 25% for [x] seconds.
    Has a powerful area effect attack.

    Come on, this is just intolerant. If you don't like to play a stamina Sorcer it's fine, nobody forces you to play one, but give the people a chance who really like to play one.
    Also not every race is good for Manasorc. A fully stam based race might also prefer going stamina on Sorcerer than Magicka.
    I used to think that PvP was a tragedy, but now I realize, it's a comedy.

    I really, really prefer lightning :( I mean think about all the pass wind/fart jokes that will come out of a wind theme! We have a hard enough time maintaining any sense of serious identity here folks! A wind theme is going to make it worse :)

    If we can't have lightning for CP and balance issues how about giving us thunder based powers instead of wind? Thunder is more awesomer than wind...just saying :)

    I think the following abilities are the best candidates for changes tho:

    Bound Armaments:
    - Gives some passive boosts only, and takes away Utility with 2 lost Ability Slots
    -> Should work like magelight and have a active ability, like a instant cast Dmg, a heal, a buff, etc.

    Critical Surge:
    - A great Ability, but lacks reliability, granting heals based on critical hits which themselves are pretty weak due to CP and traits, and doesn't even proc on DoTs (hopefully soon!)

    Hurricane:
    - interesting ability, but deals underwhelming low damage, and lacks the so much needed utility, in form of major expedition or at least minor expedition, and costs stamina.
    - Thundering Presence which costs Magicka and grants Major Expedition + Major Resolve + Major Ward is too good to give up for hurricane at the moment

    Summon Atronach Ultimate:
    - Good Ulti, however 1 Storm Atronach is enough and the current 2 Morphs should be combined into 1
    - The left Morph should instead be a Air Atronach, dealing Physical Damage and not be stationary, but chase Enemies, just like the Clannbann/Matriarch/Daedroth/Spiders/Morkuldin Sword

    Lightning Flood:
    - Not even used by Magicka Sorc

    Chrystal Blast:
    - Almost never used effectively in any scenario, not even by Magicka Sorc

    Rune Cage:
    - Not even used by Magicka Sorc

    Restraining Prison:
    - Almost never used effectively due to high cost and unreliability, not even used by Magicka Sorc

    Shattering Prison:
    - Barely used effectively due to high cost, low damage and unreliability, not even used by Magicka Sorc




    Passive Change Ideas:


    - Energized: Increases your Shock Damage by 3%/5% and grants physical Attacks a 10%/20% Chance to deal 280 Shock Damage
    --> Physical Attacks can now proc Disintegrate (can also use Physical Light/Heavy attracks as alternative instead)


    - Disintegrate: Gives all Shock Spells a Chance of 8% to instantly disintegrate Targets below 15% Health, dealing X Shock Damage
    --> Better chance for disintegrate


    - Blood Magic: "Using a Dark Magic Ability heals you for 6%/ 12% Max Health"
    --> Increased healing; works with all Dark Magic Abilities now, at the same time increasing per use heal of Dark Exchange + Morphs, too.

    Just Say No! to changing Sorcerer Magicka skills to Stamina.

    This is why I think Bound Armaments is the best donor skill for direct stamina damage. Whether you make a stam frag, a stam curse, a stam mages fury, or even a stam streak, there's always going to be someone claiming to be using that particular morph you think no one uses.

    I actually prefer that Hurricane was a replacement for the "Lightning Flood" morph of Lightning Splash since everyone uses the liquid lighting morph for the extended duration. That way you could use hurricane (Stam DPS) and boundless storm (magicka dump utility) together and stack major and minor speed. Problem solved! But I'm sure there is at least one person that uses the "lightning flood" morph even though it's inferior in PvE to the longer lasting Liquid lightning and completely useless in PvP.

    Here's why Bound Armaments is the best candidate for stam DPS:
    • Bound Armaments already costs stam so there is no loss of sorcerer magicka skills. There is already a precedent for turning toggles into active abilities that grant effects while slotted (i.e. magelight) but also have an active effect when pressed.
    • Removing the toggle from BA and granting the 8% stam and minor armor (while slotted) would fix the Daedric protection Passive because it would allow you to slot BA on your DPS bar for increased stamina. No more taking up two slots.
    • Bound Armaments implies a weapon and summoning a weapon to use fits the sorcerer lore and daedric summoning skill line perfectly.


    There are two ways I can think of to change Bound Armaments into a stamina friendly active skill:

    OPTION ONE: The simple, effective way:
    Bound Armaments
    • This ability is no longer a toggle and now grants 8% maximum stamina and minor resolve while slotted. The armor effect animation has been removed completely.
    • When activated, this ability summons a Daedric weapon and performs a single target attack hitting an enemy for X physical damage costing Y stamina.

    Simple and effective. Think of how silver bolts summons a crossbow, fires, then it disappears. But sorc's aren't simple and effective. So here's the complicated version.


    OPTION TWO: The convoluted, hard to use but very lore appropriate and IMMERZUNZ preserving way that would look cool but be a PITA to use in combat:
    Bound Armaments
    • This ability is no longer a toggle and now grants 8% maximum stamina and minor resolve while slotted. The armor effect animation has been removed completely.
    • This ability now costs MAGICKA. When activated, Bound armaments consumes X magicka and summons a Daedric weapon. While summoned, activating the ability again performs an attack dealing X physican damage and costs Y stamina (costs magicka to summon, stamina to use).


    My issues with the second option is that it would take too long to summon the weapon in pvp and it might conflict with the use of other weapon skills like overload does when activated. I wouldn't want to have to hold down to unsummon just to use another weapon ability like an execute. So I prefer option one but I can see some lore bears that don't care about PvP liking option two because it cost magicka to summon the bound weapon and then stamina to swing it.

    With a response from Wrobel himself in this thread I actually have my hopes up. I had deleted my stam sorc but if they make improvements I'll definitely be levelling it back up again because I really loved it, it just lacked power and DPS.

    or maybe this 5 piece bonus reverses the damage allocation of Rapid Strikes, making the first hit the most powerful one?

    I mean I would rather ZOS fix the balance in the class itself but it seems like they like to use sets to deal with balancing so why not take that a step further?

    A couple of things I see for DB that I see as good include the new Silver Leash gap closer and some of the improvements to weapon skill lines and other fighters guild skills.

    Shock master set?
    Seems like it was made for stam sorc- medium armour 2x weapon crit, weapon damage, and lightning damage added to basic attacks.
    Just needs a tweak to the 5th passive to not require full charged heavy after a light, either 2 light attacks and longer duration or high%chance on damage taken/ lightbattacks or something

    So you get your crit equivalent of crit surge heal of the damage you do on a Damage Shield !!!

    You say that does not apply on Block.
    But according to a post of @Asayre , you can do Crit Damage on somebody blocking.....

    Perhaps it only applies to physical Attacks ? Perhaps all ? ( @Asayre , can you say something on that?)
    Does crit surge apply ? Does that heal ?

    Pretty much fundamental info.

    One of my 4 new slots is going to be a Stamina HA tanky Battlemage from Wrobels remark alone, but with crit surge functioning all the way.... he could be nice to play as well, perhaps even as role Tank.

    This one really hopes the idea of summoning weapons will be taken into account by developers.

    This one would love to see bound armor modified in way, that it has active ability (in addition to toggle one, much like pet summons) that would summon a magic sword for xxx seconds, with a maximum 3 sword summoned at the time and with a chance to proc instant cast when using any stamina-based abilities.

    This way we would obtain uniqueness and also got stamina version of crystal frags and increase the lacking in single-target dps.

    It should not be hard to impement giving the fact that most of the code is written somewhere and you have to collect it (active ability from pets, procing from crystal fragments and sword summon from morkulini set).

    The set sounds great right?
    But activating is just crap especially when thinking about the Low Damage your attacks get, which aren't even scaling off Stamina important CP like Mighty.


    Passive Change(my suggestion):

    Energized: Increases your Shock Damage by 3%/5% and grants physical Attacks a 10%/20% Chance to deal 280 Shock Damage
    --> Physical Attacks now passively can proc Disintegrate!


    With keeping the passive change suggestion I mentioned earlier, in mind, they should change it like:

    "After 3 light/2 heavy Attacks(not fully charged) charge your weapon with lighting for 20 seconds. While active, your light attacks cause X additional Physical Damage and Heavy attacks additional X+50% physical damage."

    I was very happy to see Gina mention stam sorcs getting some love in future PTS!!
    I just hope they make BIG changes to things such as passives and tweak some abilities around such as Bound Armaments, Hurricane, Overload, and such.
    Looking forward to seeing what these changes are :D

    Swear to god if their idea of stam sorc love is another tweak to thundering faillicaine ill quit as soon as I read patch notes

    I actually like the idea of a stamina class of sorc with some abilities that utilize stamina morphs with in the sorc skill line like those that have been suggested plus other skills that enhance some weapons skills, think of it like a battle mage. My khajiit Sorc would love this too :)

    While I do like the idea of being a Lightning wielding warrior, it's just not very feasible with Champion Points in Mighty. They would have to raise Lightning Damage procs and damage ticks on stamina abilities far higher than they would on Physical damage.

    I think Wind is a good compromise, while still remaining in the "Storm Calling" archetype. Wind is a physical force capable of knocking stuff down and well...major damage.

    A hybrid could then go for the 'complete' Storm package, balancing Wind and Lightning abilities.

    Side note, I had a thought a bit earlier...do Lightning weapon enchantments proc Disintegrate?

    They often say they work on StamSorcs.... and then they add the stamina thundering presence.... I belief it just if I saw it black on white :dizzy:

    In my opinion the sorc class need a revamp in whole :neutral:
