Heavy Armor Nerf?

If I read all these posts of people saying that HA is not nerfed

I just wonder how many of them actually are playing HA themselves

And I just wonder how many of them have actually tested or read through detailed posts based on tests what was really changed

Just one comparison fact for those that think now that the Sturdy trait is a viable replacement of Bracing:

The 20% of Bracing was additive to the 30% from Fortress and the 8% of Defensive Posture. Total reduction therefore is 20%+38%=58%.

The 24% of all 8 Sturdy traits is multiplicative to the 30% from Fortress and the 8% of Defensive Posture. The remaining block cost are therefore: (1-24%)*(1-38%)=76%*38%=47%. The total reduction is then only 53% instead of the 58% we have now.

So all 8 Sturdy traits add only 15% in the battlefield instead of 24% !!!

And for that 15% you have to give up 3k Armor Resistance from Re-Inforced or 2400 Crit Resistance from impen traits.
    Tough choice.

So this jumping to the conclusion, based on quick glancing through patch notes or other posts, that the 24% is just fine as replacement for the 20% is wrong.

"I still do not understand why I followed the advice of Captain Rana to bring the villagers of Bleakrock into safety. We should have fought for our village and not have backed down, with our tail between our legs. Now my home village is in shambles, the houses burning, the invaders feasting.I swear every day to Shor that after Molag Bal has been defeated, I will hunt down the invaders and restore peace in Bleakrock and drink my mead with my friends at the market place".PC-EU

This game is a DPS race, and rather than fix it, it's clear ZOS wants it that way. Dodge-roll and block are getting a cost increase when they badly needed a decrease. HA users lose a valuable Block cost decrease. A fairly useful 1H&S stun is getting turned into a damage ability. An extremely useful Fighters Guild stun is getting turned into a damage ability. Rather than making shields just not stack, they'll now last such a short time that you'll be wasting precious time and resources constantly recasting them.

On and on and on and on and on and on.

Survivability is seems to be something ZOS finds downright offensive. All they want us to do is damage as hard and as fast as possible--and maybe heal.

Survivability is something that ZoS do not want in PvP. Faster you die less calculations for the server  and they can improve the performance.

Isn't the whole point you aren't sacrificing Impen now they've made the other traits useful so it's meant to be a tough choice between them. People asked for better traits, you have them now so use them. Any change they make to the game will be seen as a nerf by someone no matter what.

For one I Love what they did with Heavy Armor. All of it except for the removal of the Bracing passive. Don't get me wrong I do like the Wraith passive but why take away a tanks survivability and replace it with damage. Like I said I do like both, but if I had to choose I would keep bracing. How about you guys?

    Agreed.

I wear heavy armour to tank NOT to DPS ... not sure the reason for this change. Would be awesome to know why.
I wonder if Zos would consider maybe cutting bracing to 15% and add the Wraith effect.

You guys need to relize what was traded for bracing, the passive that grants you magika / stamina every 4 seconds was raised to 275% This i=has already been tested on PTS and with 7/7 HA pieces you gte back 1200 stam / mag every 4 seconds. This is far more stamina you are gaining than what the 20% block reduction cost was giving you. Plus you are gaining stamina back while blocking. The big bonus on top of that is you are getting 1200 magika back every 4 seconds aswell. the actual Wraith passive is just another bonus.

If you would like more block reduction use the trait on your 2 small pieces like belts and gloves, but even without them you are still far better off in every way than before with Bracing.

Also there is actually a good reason to conisder the Desert Rose set now. As word is it bumps you around gaining 2k stam /mag every 4 seconds

People need to actually test and realize what was changed before crying. Its like someone taking away $20 from you to give you $50. But people will cry right away about having $20 taken from them

    Your math is simply wrong.

If you were getting hit only once every 4 seconds, yes, Constitution would keep you covered.
But that is not the case.
With the general increase in block costs, the 20% block cost reduction would be even more powerful.
Core mechanics (sprint, dodge, block, CC break) will now be slightly more expensive.
