Why wouldnt u swap merciless + path location? you would do alot more dmg with it on the ice bar cuz u get more sd + sharpened?

I used the Winterborne set and Ice Staff on my Sorc and was happy with the results!

I like idea of the Malubeth set, but it gets hit with a triple whammy from Battle Spirit: Your beam's damage is cut by 50%, your healing is dependent on that already reduced damage and gets further reduced by 50% - all of this is supposed to enjoy the 30% increase, but that's also getting reduced by 50%.



Basically you're getting a 6% chance to get a weak HoT and do insignificant damage to the enemy. I'd love to use this set on my Templar, but Battle Spirit is killing the potential this set has to offer.

ZoS really needs to go through all these sets (like the new Bahara's Curse) that has damage + heals to ensure they don;t get hit twice by 50% Battle Spirit like they did with class skills.

Do you think the ability to apply it to multiple targets may hold potential with AoE, or is the utility of the immobilize on Crippling Grasp outweighing it?

I intend to use Bloodspawn or Skoria, I just dont have them yet

Well, there is a 1k healing tick from Malubeth, and it ticks every second, right? So you have that going plus a 30% increase on the healing from Sap Essence, Refreshing Path and Funnel Health/Swallow Soul. It adds up to quite a bite of incoming healing, while you're dealing damage all the time as well.

Well it´s not like you´re going to move much either : P. Just saying you can´t break harness + hardened + healing (on a 40k+ mag sorc) if the sorc isn´t stupid and avoid things like dodgeroll out of roots (which is pointless anyway).

Played that setup on my NB back when i completed winterborn first in december last year(with nerieneth though) completely enchanted for spelldmg. Still not enough to kill a sorc only focusing on recasting their shields. Might work with frostclench now.

Merc + Ult takes two gcd. Not really a oneshot. Problem is i really can´t see you breaking 20k+ of shields and 22k+ HP. Not that a sorc can break a mag NB. But if the sorc dies they did sth wrong :P

Also you should be rooted too and have to walk into mines and/or woe to use your ultimate.

While I agree that sorcs have the mathematical advantage over mageblade, winterborn proc + assassin's will + soul harvest is gonna hit like a truck. If you're running skoria with this build then that's anyone dead in 2 GCD if they all proc together (in theory)

Ofc. But the thing is: What do you do when the sorc is running the same setup.

Soul harvest is melee so not really usable unless you go into mines and the sorcs WOE + you have to break the root of clench.

I´ve played winterborn + skoria/nerieneth on both chars btw.

i've played quite a bit with winterborn on sorc and was extremely underwhelmed, i gotta say. the added dps is fairly nice but not spectacular. i did not like the bursty component at all. if i cannot time it due to randomness, i cannot create truly threatening bursts. I seriously find curse + lightning HA and hoping for a low life + disintegration trigger (certainly not the best burst in a sorc's arsenal, but still better than winterborn) to be a more reliable burst than walling and hoping for winterborn at the same time some other serious damage happens.

imho sorcs really lack soul harvest to run a similar build (inb4 someone makes it work with reverb). with neither dangerous bursts nor a healing debuff, i really didn't like my time to kill an enemy. the utility (especially of the ice wall) is still awesome and if groups grow to big with enough bursty DDs, I still switch to winterborn - but for small groups or especially solo, it's not my cup of tea on a sorc.

that said, i've played with a NB copying your build (already a week ago, don't know how much you changed since then) and it's awesome. The walls function like mines you can play around and are an incredible strategic advantage. unaware enemies melt and the healing output is actually better than that of a templar. it's almost like having areas that are mines and healing springs at the same time. also, the HP per cast is huge for the path. spamming healing ward (or even hardened) while standing in a path makes you incredibly hard to take down

Good lord, Derra. Stop arguing so hard and just enjoy his build for its ingenuity and strength... We all agree with you that sorcs are OP and shields make fighting easy mode. You don't have to flaunt it.

I'm looking forward to seeing more staff mageblade videos coming out. If I'm impressed, you may get me to share some of my builds that I've been running since IC. Idk though... Videos are hard work. >.<
