Let me get this straight, you want better looking female character models, while saying realistically women are too weak to hold a sword?

Are you trying to be as insulting as possible or are these your everyday thoughts?

women and men are both too weak to wield a sword these days. (..blah..)

I was not too weak to give birth to my son, and I'm not too weak to wield a freaking sword!
You want boob plates? Go roll a male character!
And for the Eight's sake, spare us all from your ridiculous nonsense threads!

Also, medieval swords were quite light: 1 - 1.5kg on average. They had to be so they could be used for long periods of time, and lighter swords meant their wielders could make quicker movements. OP you might need to check your history...

    Uhmm....

I kinda like boob plate armors. I think its sexy. However, I do think a healthy balance of different kinds of armors can exist in game. Like some styles can have boob plates and be skin fitting while some can be the generic male body type armors. Choice is always good. Everyone can use what they want no? And before I get smashed by "your a sexist trolls"; My female toons look like hawt sexy models and my male toons look like mega buff body builders. I like the Idealism. I dont play ESO for realism. I play ESO to get away from life for a few hours. Can we keep the politics out of a game please? To reiterate:

    1. Yes im a guy
    2. Yes I like boob plates
    3. Yes I know theyre not practical, but I dont care
    4. No im not a perv. I just find my female toons look more attractive that way. Dont think that makes me a perv tho...

I understand that some people dont like boob plates and some (like me) do like the boob plates. Why cant we all have armors for everyone! You get some styles with no boob plates and I get some styles with boob plates! We could even add a seperate tier for crafting kinda like light armor has robe + shirt. Metal armor could have one for boob plate and no-boob plate. That way we can all be happy yes?

Note: I think this thread is far too gone to warrant any reasonable discussion but just thought Id put my POV out there... Also, my breton Sorc does not appreciate the "free" breast reduction given to her by ZOS. She woke up one morning and her boobs are 20% smaller. She is pissed and demands an explanation.

+1 for boob plates or anything that makes the female characters look sexier. This game is rated M for mature not E for everyone and ffs we can run around with only our underwear, so why the debate?

    a lot of people say no boob plates on heavy armor because realism, however;

why are you so obsessed with realism? it's a game with goblins, dragons, giants, undead, magic, and vampires. we can't have any heavy armors for female figures in the name of realism, when we can still cast a spell for armor protection? last i checked there aren't any armor spells in real life. video games are supposed to have a degree of unrealistic things in them in order to make them fun and more customizable to all players.

hey, if you wanna be extremely realistic, have it so ZOS makes it so females can't equip heavy armor or 2 handed weapons. most women don't have the body type or strength or body type to do that either, so in the name of realism, women can only wear medium/light armor and cast magic now! yay, hooray for realism!!

Most men don't have the body type or strength for that either, but I guess your pursuit of pigeonholed gender expectations blinded you to that. Don't be a nerd. Also, all the old "boob plate" models still exist, they're just making new armor models that are more than reskins and which have their own geometry. This includes things like more protective-looking breastplates.

that works more to my point. if most men are not able to wield 2 handed weapons and wear heavy armor, and women are much weaker than men, and you all care about realism and armor protection so much so that there can't be heavy armor breast plates, then surely you would have it so women can't equip 2 handed weapons or heavy armor, right?

Oh my goodness it's like talking to marshmallow fluff. I was trying to imply that there is a lot of variability between individuals of a given gender and thus you can't just make a rule across them like "women can't wear heavy armor", but you went and doubled down on the flagrant sexism so here we are.

Here is the wikipedia article on female bodybuilding, for your education. Careful, the images inside might be highly emasculating.

Here is a picture of a super skinny nerd man.

Women are not "much weaker than men", there is an enormous amount of variability among our species in terms of strength and it is not split along a strict gender line. Trying to appeal to realism while having a fundamental misunderstanding of human biology is not going to win you any points.

There's a huge difference between asking for some skimpier outfits so you can manage your... " fun and customization" better, is one thing. Being incredibly sexist is another. Also, ZOS already went ahead and offered skimpier costuming options through the Crown Store. Find one there that tickles your fancy.

There's also nothing sexist about admitting the differences between genders. I'm not saying his points are well stated, but I'm tired of this BS political correctness where everyone has to be 100% equal in all ways.

From www.livescience.com: "Men are, in general, more muscular than women. Women are just over half as strong as men in their upper bodies, and about two-thirds as strong in their lower bodies."

(I've no idea how accurate that is, but they're the science publication not me, so I'm gonna run with it. The author of the article I've quoted is Natalie Wolchover. Natalie Wolchover is a senior writer at Quanta Magazine covering the physical sciences. Previously, she wrote for LiveScience, Popular Science, Seed, Make magazine and other publications. She has a bachelor’s in physics from Tufts University, studied graduate-level physics at the University of California, Berkeley, and co-authored several academic papers in nonlinear optics.)

Is that representative of all women & men from my own experience? No. I've known some ladies who could kick some ass and I've known guys who could barely push a lawnmower.

That said: I'm sorry, if I'm in an emergency and I needed a bolted door beat down and I couldn't do it myself then I'm gonna run to the house down the block where the hulking ex-linebacker lives and not to the soccer mom next door. If that makes me sexist then so be it.

Funny you mentioned those threads, I was going to do it.

As much as I agree that ZoS should make up their mind about realist/sexy outfits, I really, but really can't take you seriously. Black, white, oh no black again. Did I just say black ? I meant white !

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

As a lifelong bodybuilder/weightlifter who knows a lot of women weightlifters, I can tell you there are PLENTY of women who can wear heavy armor and swing a 2-handed sword. Yes, my top lift totals were higher, but watch a woman bench 350 and tell me she couldn't swing a sword. See her do a full squat with 550 pounds and tell me she couldn't bear the weight of heavy armor.

Personally,I liked the open breastplates and armor that looked a bit flattering on us Ladies. There's still the started jack you get for certain classes. You can craft it too.Argonian,i think. It's rather skimpy, but that's pretty much it.The Argonians dont even wear metal armor. It's Leather, for the most part, with metal bits hookedd on. Not all armor was like the plate and chain mail armor.Look at Zena's armor. Many mercenaries didnt even wear armor.
Yes,I am a female who doesnt like to feel totally constricted and hidden underneath the total tonnage of armor.People want reality with their armor.Well, they might want to realize that when heavy metal armor was put on a knight,he had to be winched onto his horse, and when he fell from that horse in a creek,he might well die drowning in it.

The general debate of style preferences is a valid discussion and we still feel that controversial subject matter can be discussed in a constructive way. However this thread is hitting sensitive territory with discussions that are pushing the forum rules. Most of this thread has been non-constructive commentary, and we've had to remove a majority of content. With these things in mind, we feel it best to simply close the discussion.

There are a few threads still open recently discussing both armor style choices and preferences for anyone interested in continuing the more constructive debates.

Please keep in mind that calling other players trolls, and baiting other users to provoke an emotional reaction are both against our code of conduct. We want to be respectful of all groups in the varied environment that is our forums.
