Male version makes sense but the female version should have the exposed inner thighs like the Cinematic Altmer lady. Not for pervy reasons but just because that is one point of the armor that is very noticeable, so for those who were looking forward to looking like the Altmer Hero female its a fail.

This doesn't surprise me though, ZoS has a habit of censoring and making female character's less feminine. I believe it's also a theme that ties into a lot of political correctness existing in the game as well. Someone at ZoS is very aware and sensitive too the various factions of social justice seekers on the net and is being very careful about not #triggering them.

I know I'm repeating myself, but really, I see a post like this every now and then.

Any argument that anything in this game is being changed/added/not added because of political correctness, because of "feminists", censure, social justice seekers on the internet or anything like that doesn't make sense to me for two reasons:

    Reason number 1:

    Reason number 2:

If covering up the thighs had absolutely anything to do with political correctness, it would make absolutely no sense for ZOS to release these. No sense at all.

So, why did they do it?

The only reason I can think of is for it to look a little more like the male version, to be honest. When you look at the Nord and the Breton outfits, the male and the female versions are almost the same. I think that was what they were trying to do.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Inner thighs, cleavage from orc armor, you figure it smarty pants. My point is valid and you know it. You are pointing to two non-examples and ignoring the fact that they actually cover the thighs... Unless our definition of a thigh is different.

My point that there was a lot of careful planning that went into this game to keep it in line with societal correctness is not wrong.

But I get it, you know me and I know you ;) *waves

Your point is not valid just because you are looking for a "boogie man" to put the blame, I'm sorry. Maybe you are getting the impression that the Bosmer skirts have a lower cut than they actually have because they are too close to the belly-button, but they actually ARE showing thighs, and quite a bit of it. It might be easier for you to see if you put one of the Bosmer pics over the first Altmer Hero outfit pic we got.

Although, the amount of leg they show is not really THAT relevant, as the Bosmer outfits also show quite a bit of belly and, if you look closely, you will see that the Altmer Hero outfit's cleavage has a little bit of added skin since they changed the solid black fabric near the neck for two leather strips.

And if you want to add to it, how about the Redguard outifts? Do you honestly think that they would ever add these if they were trying to be "politically correct"? I'm sorry, it just doesn't make any sense.

You could argue, like others had, that they changed the Orc armor so they would sell skimpy outfits in the Crown Shop. Considering that they DID add skimpy outfits in the Crown Store, THAT would be a point that could actually make sense because it wouldn't directly contradict the company's actual behavior. However, adding skimpy outfits to the Crown Store DO contradicts the allegation that they are doing anything because of these people that seem to tickle you off so much.

Maybe you had a bad experience online with what you called "social justice seekers", and that ended up making you see their influence where it doesn't make sense for there to actually be an influence. If that's the case, I'm sorry that happened, and you can argue their influence on all sorts of situations I'm sure, but this is not one of them.

I'm looking at the game case and it says "Rated M for Mature" I think ZOS needs to stop trying to make this game "Family friendly" and remember that most ppl who play this are over the age of 18. The original designs were not overly sexual or racy.

Couldn't have said better, rate the game "M for mature" makes for a feature and not something that must be worked out/polished to reach the minor age public at some point of the development. So many opportunities for great settings and scenarios are lost because executive producer teams decide that they can't tell "given story" in a game/movie because it would cause a mass media euphoria. This is solely the reason I abominate any talk of a TES movie.

If the developing team is going to stand even farther from "mature" content this might as well be the chance for other games in the market to get the public looking for it.

But sincerely, I don't believe this is the reason for the design changes in the armor, although a few other threads about the "road ahead" of art design decisions for ESO turned this specific subject into a personal concern; the level of humor in the game is already "light"(grandma friendly I'd call it ), and if anybody else recalls the Todd Howard speech around the Skyrim release where he would explicit the Zenimax - ZoS - Bethesda relationship, and also state that "this is a new era of gaming development when you can create anything you want and put into the game"... I remember this every time this subject kicks in as it seems that there are a lot more issues especially regarding concept design and market wise strategies when it comes to offering the final product, and undoubtedly this armor design falls into this category. Regarding this, I'd say that the "don't like it, don't buy" attitude work just as well as any other feedback, it all depends on what they are after really.

    Don't buy it.

Its not quite that simple, i was looking forward to a well done copy of the cinematic costumes but so far i have been nothing but disappointed i will for sure not buy it because is not what i want but is a lost opportunity. See it as you where waiting long for a product that was advertised as being something you wanted lets say a new console but now its released and the designers changed the interface of the console to something you are no longer attracted to because is clunky and lacking in design, how would you feel?

    Don't buy it.

They won't make their artists put more time and effort in something they're milking with less effort from mindless consumers.

It actually is that simple. Don't buy it.

Then what about the actual good costume i want? See not simple.

I'm going to attempt to understand your logic here.

So you're saying that because the costume that ZoS is going to release is not what you would describe as "good" when compared to the original design, it's not as simple as not buying it? It becomes much more complex because the costume that is going to be released is a modified version of the original design? This makes the choice of not purchasing it much more deep and complicated? Not just a simple choice?

It means that as a costumer i will never have again the opportunity to acquire the originally advertised design (the trailer costumes) therefor i will never have the actual trailer costume which is the one they where supposed to sell not this cheap copy.

Im pretty sure the originally advertised COSTUMES were:

    NWM1YJ9.jpg

    ESO-crown-store-elf-hero-costume.jpg

Id say what youre getting is actually an improvement over these. Lets just hope they dont screw up the shoulders scaling.

I'm sorry, but did I miss something? Where did he find the costume on the 2nd picture? It looks cheap or like a preview of the real thing.

It was a datamined image, so it was actually never officially released by ZoS, not advertised by them.

I couldn't tell you about the first image though. Looks like fan art? I could be wrong.

Not fan art. They were shown on ESO Live.
