Yep, don't upgrade the details on the outfit, bad move man... bad move.

On a serious note, the only "bad move" is removing the exposed thighs on the female version.

For me they did the job pretty well, and this armor is quite similar to the source. Too much particularising...

Guess what happens when they don't make money off things.....they have to rethink how they do them. Honestly overall I think many of the costumes in the game could use a bit of work, and I feel it's something they could make more money off of if done properly.

Yes me too and I was ultra excited about this - I don't get the logic of removing the bare thighs apart from them being lazy and creating 1 outfit for male and female!

Personally, I'd just shrug and tell myself at least I saved my money.....before spending it on something else.

Totally agree with @Ra'Shtar.... and I won't buy it - as others have suggested. However, that doesn't stop it being a disappointment and something you were looking forward to having on your toon..... These are 'products' that have been advertised in a particular way for a loooong time...

Is not the point of hero costume to be like the are in intro movies why even change then at all the should look the original for the 3 hero and there outfit is basically the tradermark for ESO so dont change them.

You're upset cause the in-game costume isn't as ornately detailed as the concept rendition is?

Things have to have limits. The modding community for Skyrim doesn't skimp on detailing, and that's why I ask you why do you think Skyrim runs so poorly with mods? If Zenimax made everything so intricately detailed then systems would have to work harder, thus degrading gameplay, thus resulting in more complaining on the forum.

Besides, I actually like seeing a bit of thigh.

...or do you mean they changed it from the less detailed one to the more detailed one? I can't tell from your post all you have is just two images with slightly different costumes and red boxes, I can't tell what you mean by them.

Personally I think the costume looks pretty good. Very close to the original. Much closer than v1.0 from the earlier pics.
The thigh change... they left the cleavage in, should have let the thighs uncovered too. Its not that big of a deal for me tho. It doesnt make the armor unheroic.
The cape? Thats a bummer but I never thought the hero costumes would come with capes. Its a technical issue. The game most likely doesnt even have code for capes. There are no npcs with capes anywhere in game world.
The one thing that actually worries me about the costume is that as usual the female shoulder armor will end up too small and cramped too closely together making the whole thing look awful. Or if they get the female size right the male ones will be scaled way too big and float somewhere away from the body. Thats what would ruin it for me.

Well really that's the better looking of the two. Besides her thighs being covered I think it looks awesome.

Don't buy....I know u want a good looking model but we've yet to see them go back and fix outfits or redesign them.....

ZOS just add a JRPG costume that's over the top sexual so players can shut up already.

P.S. you don't have to buy it you know it is just a costume that offers 0 benefits doesn't make you some divine player if you have it.

Serious people why have start to change costume out of blue when we have other costumes that show alot more skins then Altmer Hero Costume honest just leave as the original look.

The longer i stare at it the more i hate it, i have found over 10 discrepancies between that abomination and the trailer outfit its just not acceptable that this THING is sold as a finished product, cash grab korean MMOs do a better job at armor creation its mind blowing that an AAA game does this poor job.
