THIS. SO MUCH. The concept art in the trailer looks SOOOO badass. I was so excited when i clicked the link and went to the crown showcase... When i saw that drawing with the male/female model I was like... Really?... I pray the actual costume looks a lot more like the trailer or imma pass... So disappointing.
I really dont see much difference when I look at the 2 pics. Apart from the 'cape' and covered thighs the costume is almost an exact representation of the art within the limits of the ESO graphics engine. Or did you expect your character to quadruple his/hers poly count and texture fidelity compared to everything else in game, as well as obtain new animations after equipping this costume?
Im going to brush aside the snide sarcasm and point out what I feel is different.
1. Shoulder plates and the armor near the groin seem leathery in comparison to the one in the trailer which are clearly metallic. Maybe its just the colour difference or the lighting im not sure. But I dont fancy how they look. The proportion seems way off too. The shoulder plates look a lot bigger in proportion on the trailer and is much smaller in the female model of the concept art. Im pretty sure if you look at them closely you might notice that these pieces of armor look very different..
2. No I dont want special animations but if thyre going to charge me 2k crowns Id at least expect they do justice to the cape. It dosent need to be overly dramatic. Just a few tatters here and there and id be totally happy. If thyre not going to put capes into the game, this costume looks just about cool as the regular altmer crafted gear. (imo). Im sure some people may feel different. Its just my POV.
3. Covered thighs...... They have no problems releasing prostitute dancer girl costumes but they just had to cover the thighs on this one?
All in all, the one in the concept art just dosen't have the feel of a "hero" to me. And trust me. I full and well know the limits of the ESO graphics engine where they cant even get dye colors on certain armor pieces correctly. Like a pink turns to grey or when green turns to brown. So my expectations are not that high.
I'll be honest. The things you listed seem rather minor to me. Not something that disqualifies the costume as 'heroic'.
Maybe with the exception of shoulders, as female shoulder armor is in fact often too small which does look pretty awful and could potentially ruin the appearanc. However it's something I'd have to see animated in game to judge.
They already changed a few things since the last time we saw it (check my last post of the second page).
Also, pretty sure the nord costume was 2000 crowns, not 2500.

Personally I really liked the little bit of skin showing and that's a woman talking. Then, I know it wouldn't be practical in combat for obvious reasons but meh, I still liked it.
Honestly @ParaNostram , I think more often than not it's women that want little bits of skin showing. There's a HUGE difference between a cute and sexy outfit and a sleazy street walker looking outfit.
Then there's a really REALLY small minority that is VERY vocal that just ruins everyone else's fun.
