Am I cheating?

I play solo PVE and have had numerous types of characters. When each character gets to lvl 10 - 12, the same thing happens as must happen to most other solo players - there's no bosses you can beat and no more quests to go back to to get a few more levels. So I always have 6 or 7 quest with a boss I can't yet take and not much else to do.
So, I wait in the lobby of the dungeon and join others to run through and get my boss.
Since I'm a solo player (been playing TESO for years) I don't have any friends to discuss this with. I note many players show annoyance when I run along but what specifically am I taking away from other players except the pride of finishing off a tough battle without help? And is that even an issue? Don't most solo players have this lvl 10 - 15 problem and have to resort to this?
Thanks

To immediately address the title: no, you are not cheating.

I have not had the same issue with Lv10 - 15, but I do see the side of those aggravated with your behaviour. For an experienced player, all enemies in solo content are "faceroll" easy -- boring to fight. Therefore any enemy that offers a modicum of challenge is both rare and sacred. By bringing even one extra person to fight a boss, a modicum of challenge turns into "faceroll" easy yet again, ruining the enjoyment of combat.

It's a online game if they didn't want other players interfering they I guess they should have played something else

You're not cheating, so don't worry about that aspect.

As for the running along side another: Yes, this can annoy people. Specifically, you run the risk of appearing as a troll, just following the other player, taking kills/exp from them.

I would suggest that next time you either ask the players in question to group (this can be done quickly and without any further interaction), that way you both share the exp/loot. Or you ask in zone chat if there's anyone willing to lend you a hand.

I enjoy trying to solo as much of the PvE content as possible (for immersion reasons), but sometimes you may need a hand. Don't hesitate to ask people for help - most people are friendly and will gladly help

Real quick I have to say what good answers these have been in that I see a diff perspective thru them.
I'm not such a great player, even having characters on every MMO since Asheron's Call beta.
I'll try the LFG option, good advice all.

    1. You are not cheating
    2. If you want to kill a boss and need help with that, ask people or stand close to the boss and when others attack it, you hit the boss a few times to get your share of it. someone els might also struggle at the boss, and need help like you do :)

Grouping Tool is not ment for solo or open-world content, it throws you into an instanced 4mans dungeon, where you have assigned roles: 1 healer, 1 tank, 2 damage dealers. If you struggle at solo content, these dungeons are extremely hard compared to what you are used to.

Enemies give full xp if you kill them solo.
Enemies give 10% more xp if you kill them with 1 other person.
Enemies give ~30% total xp, if you kill them with 2 other people.

<< so if you have followed others through dungeons from the start of the dungeon till the end, and they seem angry at you, this may be one of the reasons. One other reason could be that it's a couple who try to quest together, and you're kinda the 3rd wheel throughout a dungeon quest...

you can solo ALL game content, except for Craglorn (for some dungeons you need other people for certain mechanics, that's it)

If I enter a dungeon with another player or come across someone on a parallel path; I ask to group. If they decline...good luck with that.

Wait, are you talking about having issues getting XP level 10-15 or VR10-15?

If you're talking about level 10-15 then you're missing a lot of stuff. If you do everything you should easily hit level 10 by the time you're 1/4 of the way through your alliance's first full zone, and by that time you'll be out-leveling the mobs and bosses you come across by 2-3 levels, so you really shouldn't be finding any of them to be difficult.

This kind of behavior annoys me only when Im doing something not exactly what you described.

Say you are in a delve and hit the boss a few times to get quest complete, sure no big deal.

Now if Im soloing Baron Thirsk and your lvl 46 butt shows up when he is about dead, im gonna stop the moment you aggro him and let him kill you then continue. I've been here for x amount of time and your unhelpful butt ain't gettin anything from my work.

If u were there in the beginning different story, ill gladly work with you

I have been leveling a new toon and at MANY world bosses and public dungeons there have been other players waiting for help. It's not cheating, it's an MMO, and doing content with other players is totally normal and to be expected.

That said, if you have had many toons and all have trouble completing early content, I think you are missing some important stuff. Like food, pots, set gear... all things your more mature toons can be passing down or crafting to your younger ones.

I don't really run into this problem as I tend to out level an area pretty consistently by 2-5 levels even in Auridon. Perhaps it's that I hit up Cyrodil right off and get the free skill points and exp, or it's that I thoroughly explore all the delves.

Generally when someone starts walking by me killing stuff I don't mind. Just gets me through it faster.

Dont ask them to group.Just run with them.It happens to me all the time and it turns out to be fun.It used to be me doing the attaching and running, but now others run with me. Dont ask, just go ahead and run with them.If they dont want you to,they'll let you know.Ignore them,if you choose. You are allowed to do that run as much as they are, remember that. :)

In IC the stones are divided among the players. If someone just jumps in then I can lose 500 stones for some low level that didn't help. That's really the only that would make me care enough to do something
