What I find most frustrating.....

Is the fact that my character sheet only functions as a simple guideline. When you reach end-game in ESO it's really all about the numbers on that character sheet. But that character sheet is false 90% of the time. Sure, being on console we will have damage numbers very soon but I don't feel like that's good enough. I can't just keep crafting max level gear just to check if my damage numbers represent what I hope for. We can't just respec champ points 4 times a day just to find out what is and isn't working, not to mention the time spent testing all this. I'm finding all this SO FRUSTRATING.

For example I crafted a vet 16 torugs pact hat yesterday, up from 15, which wasn't showing any change to my spell damage anyway, I had hoped it was down to the level but, nope!! It just isn't working, I have also invested into crit defense with champ points but do you think my character sheet number budges?? What is my spell penetration??! Why do my resistances not move with champ point investment? I am honestly hard pressed to tell you any stat on my sheet that is actually reliable!!

I know many will say that the spell damage is there, or give me an algorithm to work it out myself but for the love of boethiah that is not good enough. Being at endgame I am finding turning this game on more and more frustrating. I am doing the MMO thing and building my character, farming, researching and then it is only after a build decision has been finalized that I realize I'm now no way more informed than I had been before it. And all this on top of the lack of consistency when moving to and from Cyrodiil...

Is it just me that feels the gray hairs sprouting when I look over my sheet or are others in same boat? Also, is this something that we feel needs a certain level of priority?

The character sheets don't mean much, from my experience. I go by skill tooltips for damage.

    It sucks.

I don't know much about the veteran stuff, but I found this, maybe it is helpful for you, maybe not - but it might give an idea.

I would like to know what you think about the tool in that link I posted - is that practical?

I'm currently working but will def try it out when I get home this evening. I'll be sure to let you know what I think as well. Unfortunately I'm not too optimistic. While it may be practical I'm certainly not a fan of possibly having to go outside the game to theory craft any possible builds.

Yeah, I do not even know if that tool works - but I used a perk and skill planner for Fallout 4 for example - it was a bit tedious to use it for so many levels, but in the end I got a quite good plan for when to take which perk and I got a good impression for when I will be able to use certain features.

I can tell you're getting mad with all of this. If worth the suggestion, change your Daedric Prince preference. Uncle Shaggy's side is much more fun and justifies your own madness

I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology) because I am an expert (which I know is a tautology).

Actually addressing this forum with particular topics is far too akin with requesting an audience with the mad God!! ;)

you have to learn from those that have tested and are more experienced I'm afraid. And if you want to get min maxed you have to be prepared to test and read. I like in particular this tamerial journal entry from asayre

You also can google specific mechanics and normally find how they work.

It doesn't help that the character sheet was bugged after Orsinium. People were reporting that Torug was "not working" because they were not seeing changes in numbers in the character sheet. Well, Torug was working just fine--it's just that the sheet's numbers could not be trusted.

This was finally fixed in TG. So until you get that update, not even pay attention to things like spell/weapon damage numbers in the sheet.

Also, spell/weapon damage is not the final arbiter of DPS. It's SD+mag or WD+stam. If, hypothetically, you gained 300 spell damage but sacrificed 5000 magicka to get it, then you're worse off than before. And, of course, player skill matters too. In the hands of a poor player, even the best gear in the game won't make the DPS numbers fly.

I'll take a look at that when I get home, it's taking too long to load right now on the phone. But personally I don't like the fact that everyone seems to run a tried and tested build that was created by someone else. Quite the opposite actually. I currently have no problem healing or DPSing any content on my NB so it's more a case of simply having the info I need to know where I can improve on what I currently have you know? Perhaps people wouldn't need to be so reliant on what other people can come up with if the tools we have were more refined.

And @code65536, I'm glad that that particular bug has been sorted but what about everything else? Crit resist, penetration, etc.

Thanks for sharing the link for Arithmagic. I'd never seen this before. Good stuff.
