Console players would be great ap. I love the idea. I cannot wait for the rage on the forums. Christmas would come early. One of those win wins I always hear about.

It wwould only be a win win until the console players got all up in arms over PC uses having add-ons that made it unfair for them.
    THEN we'd lose our add-ons.
Not really. Remember, Microsoft and several developers are very much in support and developing code to support add-ons and mods for the Xbox platform.

Once Xbox/PC cross-play is in full swing, expect that the Xbox would have add-ons as well.

    Level playing field.

    Well,in that case I have no problem with it. :}

Wow. I never thought I'd see the day when Microsoft would allow this. Of course, with the trailing Xbox One numbers, it's not really surprising that they are allowing this.

@LostScot , you say Microsoft has never been the problem... what do you have to say about these quotes?

"Specifically, Microsoft refuses to allow titles to share multiplayer servers between other platforms. "
    http://www.rpgsite.net/news/2430-ff14-director-a-realm-reborn-skipping-xbox-is-still-down-to-microsoft

"Microsoft is not allowing cross-play completely; which means [War Thunder] cannot be on Xbox One,"
    http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Why-War-Thunder-PS4-Xbox-One-Because-Microsoft-Prevents-Cross-Platform-Play-63035.html

How do you see Microsoft as not being the problem in the past? I'm glad that they are changing their policies and putting the ball in Sony's court but, unfortunately, I don't know if Sony would be open to it NOW. With the PS4 leading sales as much as it is, why would it behoove them in any way to open up cross platform play? Xbox players who have friends on the PS4 would no longer be enticed to get a PS4 to play with them.

Don't get me wrong, I WANT this feature! One of my oldest friends is an Xbox fanboy and I've been a multi-console owner since the PS1. This generation I chose to stick with the Playstation band so we have not been able to play together. Recently he said he was thinking about getting a PS4... if Sony opened up cross platform play then that incentive to get the PS4 is gone.

So, while I agree that moving forward it may be Sony who puts the wrench in these gears, in the past... it's been Microsoft preventing cross console play.

I would love it if they did because I have a friend who plays eso on the ps4 and I have a xbox one. So it would be awsome to be able to play with him.

"Microsoft has announced its support for Cross-Network Play, allowing Xbox owners to play games with anyone on PC or PlayStation." This was one of the reasons that there has been no cross-platform support for ESO (that being, Microsoft wouldn't allow it). Now that Microsoft have given the green light for it, such things may be possible. Would you like to see ZOS implement cross-platform play opportunities, if their servers could be adjusted to support it? No guarantee that they could, of course, as their servers may not be capable of it.

I think its pretty grand how pc players have this superiority complex. Having played on both pc and xbox, I can tell you, the top teir players are fairly close to equal on both platforms. The advantage pc players, guilds in particular, have is continuity, since a lot of them have been playing together for far longer. Sure, the pugs on console are worse than the pugs on pc, but pugs gonna pug and they're all free ap regardless

I like the idea because then I could play with my husband, and it would just generally be nice to be able to play with everyone all together.

But I'm not sure how chat would work. Even if they implemented voice chat on PC I suspect most people would use text chat still, but then the console players would still be using voice chat...

And if it did shift to being predominantly voice chat I'd probably have to stop playing since I can't have the sound on very often.

That wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. The only reason I think it would be unfair for the console crowd is because they don't have access to the addons that PC users do. If they did have access to the same addons I don't think PC users would have any competitive advantage.

IF they merged either PC and/or PS4 in any combination, I would have to happy dismiss myself from this game entirely.

There are games where it makes sense LIKE Rocket....but there are other games where it doesn't make sense, like this game.

BIGGEST ISSUE - is the crap that is released on PC with bugs and such....unless PC players are willing to wait on DLC until all three are approved and certified (Which I don't see PC players going a long with)

PC doesn't have voice chat so that's one biggie
PS4 and Xbox One cannot join console party chats together.....biggie #2

Tho PS4 and Xbox One are similar, I think it only makes sense for there to be cross-play servers which sync back to the existing console/PC servers.....this is something I would support as it offers the options to play with or not to play with at all other console players and maybe PC too.

I think it will work out just fine, gentlemen.
Well, considering that Microsoft has been working on Xbox/PC cross-play for a while (part of their Unified OS strategy), this is the next logical step.

With the next several updates to their systems, we're going to see quite a bit more cross-play capabilities between the Xbox One and the PC communities.

Microsoft even has plans to make the Xbox One "immortal" by creating upgrades for it that allow a Gamer to upgrade their Xbox One in the same manner as PC players upgrade their PC's.

Gaming has a bright future indeed, but I don't see why this wouldn't be possible as well.

ZOS would just have to add all the best Add on's to console like Fallout 4.

Remote play for PS4 is coming to PC, which should mean mouse use.

    You are correct, sir.

However, I'd say it wouldn't be so hard for ESO to actually pay for rights to use things like AUI across all platforms, which would eliminate this issue.

They are already bringing us scrolling combat text, it wouldn't be so hard for them to add in a log of some sort, at which point we'd only be missing buff trackers, but having played without them for so long I'd argue that most (elite) console players are more adapt at keeping their buffs up since they haven't had the crutch of buff trackers. My wife, who is exclusively console, and only played pc for about 2 months at launch without any add-ons is vastly superior to me at knowing when its time to re-buff without having to search for visual clues.

I don't think there would be perfect balance, however, I think the social ramifications could outweigh this for all but the most hardcore pvp/pve players(think top .1%), whom ZoS doesn't typically consider in any relevant decision making.

I see the pointless console war has started back up again a little bit. I play PC more because I like MMO's better on it. I play my PS4 and XONE for the exclusives and shooters. I am no biased on which console is "better" because there is no "better" console. Its all about what YOU enjoy not what everyone tells you to enjoy. I personally would love for PC and Xbox to be cross-platform.

I agree, console wars are trivial, you either have fan boys on either side with their biased view points or people who are focused on who has the most technically superior hardware. The problem is, fan boys aren't going to change their viewpoints regardless of logic and if you want technical superiority pc is obviously the only choice. The only other reason to choose a specific console is based on exclusives imo, which, again, comes down to personal preference. There's no right or wrong choice

No, I left PC and migrated to Xbox so that my wife and I could play eso together, however I missed the transfer window and was forced to start completely from scratch, losing 8-9 traits of crafting, multiple v16 characters, hundreds of champion points, multiple sets of BiS gear, add-ons, alliance ranks, guilds I'd been in for many many months, etc. If I could get those back and still play with my wife? best of both worlds

To sum up what I'm seeing here, there's at least 3 big reasons why not.

Add ons. Even if ZOS put the combat and buff tracking ones in, we'd soon hear complaints about other ones such as MM, Awesome Guild Store, Skyshards, Lorebooks, Cyrhud etc. "It's not fair they can sell better/buy better/see more info in Cyro/level skill lines faster"

Communications. How do you hook them all up?

Patches. Hell no, I don't want to wait for the console manufacturers to approve them when I don't need to.

Don't see it happening. ZOS doesn't want to do that much work and many players from all platforms would be unhappy.
