The lag is still unbearable and we feel very heartbroken

ESO has always had the potential to be the best MMO at the moment, but for about 2 years the PVP has stayed in a condition that renders it only sporadically enjoyable. I can not believe that a company like ZOS just could not get things straight for about 2 years whatever the excuse is. Loyal fans of ESO have given ZOS chance after chance to make the PVP really playable, but have been disappointed again and again. If ESO would never realize its potential and die much sooner than ZOS had expected, the company can only have itself to blame for this huge pity, because it simply blew things up.

You don't have to, just play something else. ZOS doesn't have the engineering prowess to fix it, no matter how many forum threads are created.

Most people won't and will move onto other games. If they don't fix, this will become a novelty game for a small niche market. You've already seen a mass exodus of people since launch. How many PVP servers have they merged? How crowded are the PVE questing zones compared to launch? A lot of my friends don't play anymore because they are tired of the same old linear type of questing and are tired of PVP vs Wall with terrible lag.

This game needs PvP battlegrounds, arenas, PvP minigames (2vs2, 3vs3, 4vs4 etc.), real leaderboards, ladder system, out of game rewards, tournaments, esports, and objectives. Whose tired of the same ol same zerg ball vs keep walls.

Take the damn no CP server that no one uses and turn it into a PvP minigame server open to everyone. Do what GW2 did and max level everyone and give max CP for PvP.

Overload rework. Power Overload now does physical damage and grants you the power of a tornado: You throw a brick at the target with a light attack, and you hammer your head into that brick with every heavy attack. We have decreased its Ultimate cost, but increased the chance that you get stuck in the animation.

I've been quite busy with work and the like since TG has dropped. Went to enjoy some nice prime time PvP last night and boy was I surprised! Normally PvP during prime time is quite laggy, but usually playable for the most part. Last night I couldn't do anything at all. Enemy players weren't showing up on my screen, horses were invisible (people running super fast instead - was quite funny actually), being hit by abilities that I could not see, having siege on my death recap with absolutely no visible siege around (during an open field battle), etc.

From what I've gathered on the forums and talking to friends in game this is how it's been for the past week. Somehow ZoS has managed to make the lag even worse in PvP. This is as bad as 1.3-1.4 or perhaps even worse.

    Edit;

I forgot to add that the pretty pink trees and tic-tac-toe ground is also very amazing. Not to mention sound completely cutting off for absolutely no reason at all.

The lag was unbearable Sunday for me, like 999+

Crit rushes not connecting (even on targeted players), rapid manoeuvre not executing despite spamming it.. Coming off mount to enter an unbreakable slow walk... Ugh... WB's stuck in the downward swing for 5 seconds..

    Just unplayable like this.

Ive come to the sad conclusion that they wont be able to fix the lagg, infact its worse then it has been in a long time after TG patch. Not to mention a plethora of bugs old and new. Game can be great, but most of the time its a source of frustration becasue of the lagg and bugs, its a shame. My eso plus membership is expiring in 1 month and I doubt I will renew, I will still log in here and there I guess, but if lagg doesnt (im dreaming) get fixed this game will eventually get uninstalled. :(

This 1 million lottery was a bait to bring back people who had left the game.
You had to log, etc to have a chance of being rewarded.
They just wanted to bring as many people as possible into their cash shop rather than spending time and money fixing the lag issues.

I have a post about this turning into a cash grab over on recent discussions. Once they went b2p it was obvious it would turn out this way. Without a constant stream of income (ie subscriptions) mmos turn into something where the devs only focus most of their resources on content you have to pay for like DLC and stuff in the cash shop instead of cool things like ZOS promises to keep you interested.
The spell crafting, player housing and battle grounds would have to be base game (free) so that's not a wise use of time for a dev when your servers have serious latency problems and you already must be short on money.
So anyway, you'll either see lots of cool stuff and poor servers forever or a fix and then wait for them to produce the cool free stuff.
But idk they have a very strange business strategy, so who knows. Maybe Bethesda will help them out xD
Still love this game. Has the best combat system in any mmo ever. Would like to see it hurry up and fix the servers, bring in more players, and start pumping out things the community needs.

okay so after a wonderful morning dealing with DC Zergs in Arrius i think i'm done with PvP for a while on my DK. 11fps. 999+ ping. Over 100 DC in Arrius (yes i was counting). the game just cannot go on like this.. it needs changes.

    1. Everyone has a right to play but it needs to be in a balanced arena. There should be a campaign that specifically locks users out on the basis of player ratio's. Right now the campaigns are locked when they reach the total capacity of the slots available per alliance. Why can't it be an auto-lock when the player ratio is +<5/->5 either side of the other alliance players? Yes this would ultimately deny access to a lot of players but currently some campaigns are just running on Full Lock mode on two alliances and 1/3 full on another. The imbalance is well over the top. As an example, say you have EP in a particular campaign, there will be a ceiling cap of 95 players of an opposite alliance that can join that campaign at any one time. The 96th gets queued, if 10 players suddenly drop from one alliance then EP locks until the minimum slots have been met and so forth..

    2. Auto Duel mode. If you engage a player and you are solo combatting them for 30 seconds - you can't be picked off by other nearby weaklings looking to capitalise on your fight. Really tired of this. 95% of PvP'ers are just genuinely crap. They can't fight outside groups and personally i'm getting rather tired of picking one out of a group and engaging... only to see ten others breaking out of stealth and spamming Radiant Oppression.. thats the exact reason people are zerg'ing! Because you've created an environment where weak players are rewarded for poor skills. My suggestion here would be to engage, and if in 30 secs noone else has entered the fray (i.e. no hits registered on any other player), a Duel Mode warning pops up.. screen greys out similar to the portals in WGT and only yourself and your target are visible in colour.. Being in Duel mode will render immunity to outside interference for the duration of that fight (or when both players are separated by X distance).

    3. Forward Camp Respawn - If you die and do not have another alliance player within 50m of you for example, you get the option to respawn at a Forward Camp instead of back at a Transitus linked keep. This would be advantageous for players running solo to give them a chance to respawn at closer locations as a reward for not Zerging. i.e. lets say you are just out farming somewhere and you get ganked by a group of 20 Smurfs.. 1 Person is hardly a credible threat. Give the option to respawn closer than back in your own alliance held keeps. There's times where I'll see a single player somewhere and i'll just /wave and leave them alone doing their thing and they do the same to me.

    4. Vitality Bonus within your own held keep with a player cap inbound. Say a 'Spirit of War' buff with +20% Mag/Stam/Health Regeneration to all alliance players within a keep when it is flagged under attack.. but cap it to players in that keep at the time it was flagged. Obviously when its flagged you can't transitus to it. If you have 30 players in a keep and they all receive the buff it goes a lot further toward defending a Zerg of 100+ and evens out the playing field.

    5) Connection QoS Implementation. To make things fair, implement QoS that ensures an even threshhold ping across the board. i.e. Do not allow latency less than 300ms. There's a significant disadvantage to players being lagged out by Thornblade 2.0 (Trueflame) on around 500 ping when players on Fiber are pinging 60-100. Thats half a second almost of response time advantage on Fiber links over and above conventional xDSL. Even the playing field, bring the ping down to 300. Asia/Oceania is at a significant disadvantage by this as the ping over Subsea Fiber from LA to Guam is still around 240ms, plus additional backhaul between other carriers it stacks up. At best I pull 280 something in PvE. There are others who rarely get below 400 without PvP Lag. QoS needs to be implemented to keep it fair across the board.

This is one of the rare occasions I will agree with @Kris. ZOS just aren't capable of fixing the problems they have created. If they were, they would have done it already. Of course they would have. Instead we will continue to get a steady flow of Crown Store content and DLCs which are fundamentally broken. So long as people keep playing (and paying) nothing will change. When that stops the most likely outcome will be the game shutting down rather than them making any improvements.

It is so simple. The effort and the money that ZoS should spend to fix the lag will be more than what they will get back. The big problem here is that the base population of the game do not PvP and they are casuals. Sorry but this is the reality and people who are in charge understand it very well. I guess that ZoS expected a lot more PvPers at launch. They opened 10 campaigns and they even said that they are ready to open more. Most of this campaign were empty, then ZoS realized that the game's population is not so interested in PvP.

the problem is peaople want to fight - and not run around an empty campaign so they preferred 3h+ of waiting for an over filled campaign while doing some needed pve to gain BiS equip over wasting your time entirely hoping for some enemys...

they should have had hardcaped the entrance possibility -> server full you cant list for it -> you are filling up more campaigns.
my highest waiting queque on EU was 1397 at the beginning, that would have been enough to fill 7-8 other campaigns but people just did not care i spend 6hours then, waiting on the next highest filled campaign to be able to go to the populated campaign with a total outcome of 9 engagements during that time.

    Non-acceptance means you don't play.

Personally I think the player base should start formally protesting by not playing. The *** that has gone on in development is out of control.

I would love to see this game flourish and have meaningful combat but there is no point if the idea of fixing the lag is to reduce the quality of play and idea of balance is just going to be a random vision of what classes should be strongest without actually evaluating what is happening in PvP.

I have almost completely stopped playing. I won't be buying the thieves guild update. It is purely profiteering now and it is shameful - zen has really disgraced the series.

i keep checking out the forums to see of the lag issues are resolved, I loved ESO bar the poor performance, but gave up about 4 months ago and returned to GW2 and having a lot of fun in wvw - no perf issues. Its a shame because i love the eso universe.

The reality of the matter is that occums razor applies here, the devs know about the issue and have done nothing for a year and the most likely reason is that the engine they bought and modified is not up to the job, and no amount amount of tweaking will address that,. There was a lot of concern prior to the release that the engine wouldn't cope, and things have panned out that way. If you look at mmorpg that have had performance issues historically (Conan, GW2, Wildstar) all have resolved the issues within the first year, which ofc makes perfect sense, its a priority.

Massive 100+ players battles were no problem before ZOS started to let people who said they were engineers touch the game.

It's unlikely to be an engineer skill problem over this time - that's what contractors are for. If the problem could be fixed, you should have seen progress by now.

the problem wasn´t existant before the lightning patch and the bugfixing of the AOE skills not having an AOE-cap...
so your hired contractors were actually the culprits ;)

As i said it was the need to move the calculations onto the server side. as any good project team will know if you have a highly technical problem that is solvable but you don't have the skills in house then you hire a specialist.

Occums razor, they cant fix it, they spent a year trying, its out of their control - most likely the core engine.

    or

Every single developer they have hired is incapable of fixing the problems despite it clearly losing the company money and despite the fact the game outwith the lag issues is very high quality.
