So i was doing a dungeon with some friends (forgot which dungeon this was). But i stumbled upon this lovely display of romance. These 2 clearly did not care about "race". It didn't matter if their love was taboo. These 2 obviously couldn't "bare" being away from one another. They would do anything to be together even if it killed them. Sadly, there wasn't a happy ending for these 2, but at least they died together. :)

In auridon there is also a Lesbian commander. Forgot her name. In general the game is very progressive in this respect.

The game is in your face progressive but i would prefer to put it more into game world and not just as a token couples that are in reality not even noticed by others.

I would prefer that real world politics stayed out of the game completely. There is plenty of political preaching all over our society. I don't need to have more of it in a game.

The progressive ideas in this game are, thankfully, just put in there with no pedantic lesson. It's essentially just there and the ethics of it are not spat in your face. Elder Scrolls games definitely implement it well. It's there, but the game doesn't make a big deal about it.

I am not aware of any part of the game where this is an issue. Couples are what they are. There is no meta aspect to it.

The only way it is "in your face" is if you play with your face pressed up against your monitor.

Overall ESO is pretty progressive, but there are some comments of NPCs, which bother me nevertheless. Like in Stros M'Kai there is an NPC which tells a story and then it comes "she is JUST a woman" - hell, why did ZOS have to put this sexist phrase into this game. This makes me angry anytime when I hear it. This is not straight into my face, but straight into my ears.

Gay dudes have been hitting on me since Skyrim so nothing new. I do wish we had more options in quests though, some of them just point you in one direction and cant pick the oposite view.

Wow, this thread definitely went in a direction I wasn't expecting. It was meant to be a funny little random thing me and a couple friends noticed while doing our daily pledges on our toons. When we stumbled across it. I made a random remark in Ts "aww look eso is so progressive" then we started to sing the ebony and ivory song. Many horrible bear puns followed soon after. This was definitely not a post about world ethics and eso stance on a certain topic.

I think they handled it really we as well, you noticed the quests with same sex couples or the like but none of them stood out in a way they have with other games. Here the characters were just normal believable characters as their sexual orientation was a side note, not their defining factor which is where I feel most games go wrong.

NPC's should be "The gay NPC warrior" but "The warrior NPC who is gay" if that makes any sense

The same-sex couples in this game aren't remotely political. It is only political because that is where your own mind leads you.

Ask yourself this: If you were to substitute one of the two people with an opposite-sex individual, and carry through to the end of the quest, would you have seen it in any way as political, or having an agenda?

If your answer is no, then you should consider why you felt that way in the first place.

@audrieltheelf idk Audrey, I suppose our crazy antics in Ts while doing dungeons are only funny to us. Could be the massive amounts of alcohol consume during our runs.

Characters can have prejudices and bigotries- often it's the source of conflict in a narrative. There's a lot of racial tensions, too. Ask any Argonian. It's not presented as "this is good."

Try telling Alex Haley to redo "Roots", but without any racist characters.
