The Laurels-No Helmet bug?

I have heard from multiple people a rumor that an Undaunted Helmet will not drop if a Laurel appears in the loot of the final boss.

I have no idea if there is any validity to it. That's why I am posting here. The first day IC patch hit, I ran 4 dungeons and got 3 hats. Since then, I have got 70 Laurels and a lot of shoulders and hardly any hats. Something has felt off about the drop rate. Or maybe this is just the case with certain bosses. For some reason I have more engine guardian helmets than Bogdan, Nerien'th, Valkyn, Mephala, and Bloodspawn combined.

Next time you run a daily, screenshot your loot and let's see if there is something to this.

This rumor is not true. I got a laurel together with my engine guardian helmet.

Nah, not true.
That would mean that someone who has the full Mercenary motif would never get a helmet, since you have 100% drop chance on last boss for Laurel.

Wish I'd have your EG rates though - trying to get impen EG and this set has the lowest drop rate for me (shoulders and head).

Both my Molag Kena and Engine Guardian helms dropped with laurels. I have full mercenary motif.

It's less a rumor mongering conspiracy theory than a question to simply ask others for their experiences. ZoS has acknowledged drop rates in other aspects of the game have been bugged/lower than intended. I have 70 Laurels in my bank and 8 helmets. I'm not sure what a full mercenary motif is or that a Laural automatically dropped while having one.

Just wanted to know if someone has get a helm+laurel since I have not.

I personally haven't looted any helmets since I started looting laurels.

Full mercenary motif means that my templar has read every chapter of the merc motif. So since she has her drop rate for laurels is 100% on every vet dungeon final boss. She will get one.

Now since I am getting laurels every single time I know that when my last 2 helms dropped I also received laurels in the same loot.

Did it seem like shoulders/helms dropped more in the beginning...yes. It could just be RNG, but I do know that the helms absolutely can drop with laurels.

So how many times have you tried? It took me over 100 runs in Darkshade Caverns to get Engine Gaurdian helm. My Molag Kena dropped ridiculous fast. Just RNG

So Laurel drop rate is not a set random number, but based on the number of merc motifs I read?

As stated by others, completely untrue. I get a laurel every time, I get a helm a few times per week.

I learned all 14 chapters (so 100% Laurel chance) on both my vet toons on the morning of Orsinium's release. If this rumor were correct, then I would've gotten zero helms since then. But that's not the case: I've gotten plenty of helms (well, zero Bogdans) since Orsinium's release...

So... the verdict is that it's incorrect.

not true. I got Spawn of Malphia and Laurel together a while ago....only helmet I have ever gotten, but it did come with a Laurel
